I felt like I was in a "dive" bar. I went at 4 PM. The bar was packed and noisy. Atmosphere wasn't great at all, and definitely didn't feel "Greek" to me. NO Greek music. My heritage is Greek, and the food was above average, but not great. The portion sizes are not large, so the prices are a bit... More

Tasty and delicious Greek food that the most demanding visitor will enjoy. It is a time travelling experience to the Greek taste and hospitality, with kind staff and Greek music inside the restaurant. It is exactly how Greeks do it. Get in the line, order and get the food fast. I strongly recommend to live the Greek experience.

The fact that the food here isn't rated in the top 5 in Pittsburgh is a travesty! Not fancy at all but it is THE BEST Greek food in only city with SIX(6) Super Bowls! I thought I was eating excellent Greek food in Fayetteville, NC, but now I must consider moving back home to Pittsburgh. Come on, try Salonika's... More

Classic Greek food served in a no frills space. Price and quality are good and owners are very pleasant. Good for a quick meal and take away as well.

While we were waiting at another local "have to eat at this place" joint in the theater district in Pittsburgh we grew increasingly tires of the noise, chaos and long wait even with reservations. We remembered passing by this place to our show earlier in the evening and decided we would come here instead. Thank goodness we chose this, because... More

Stopped by Salonikas for Lunch while visiting Pittsburgh. It is located half a block from the Renaissance Hotel and a couple of blocks from the PNC stadium. They have some great Gyros and Greek food. They environment is very relaxed, nothing fancy but great food.

We wandered into Salonikas - as my husband Fred - born and raised in Pittsburgh - was almost positive that this is where he had his first gyro - many years ago. There is a restaurant area to the back of the site - but we opted to order from the counter and eat at the bar. It proved to... More

This place is one of Pittsburgh's best. You can get authentic fresh traditional Greek food or opt for a quick gyro special (huge gyro, fries, and a drink.) There are daily specials and a bar with all-round reasonable prices and long hours. The service is friendly and lightning fast. No matter what you order, you can't go wrong. If I... More

I live in a NY city suburb, travel to Pittsburgh and have eaten at Salonikas a few times. I am Greek (Mom cooked Greek food) and eat at other Greek restaurants in NY. The food in Salonikas is better than what I get in NY. I love it. It's delicious and offers a lot of variety. I've tried many dishes... More
