I've been in and out of the peanut bar for many years. The food is ok but the part the strikes me the most is nothing was ever redone inside the restaurant. New paint, wall paper anything would be nice. The food is average the peanuts are good but I think they would do better if they undated the interior.... More

I was so bummed. When I first came to visit family in this area we were frequent customers and I loved this place. Then time went by, I ended up moving to area, and forgot about it until recently...and went unexpectedly. ..and won't be in hurry to go back..sad because I had such good memories of the food!

The Peanut Bar Restaurant is a historic gem in downtown Reading. The ode to tradition standard PA Dutch style menu is a great local offering but, the daily rotating specials menu is true prize here. With the kitchen consistently executing perfect Risotto's, Mahi Mahi, Pan Seared Scallops, Chilean Seabass, and more. Highly recommended!

Peanuts everywhere! If you have a nut allergy this might not be a good place for you. You can eat peanuts and throw the shells on the floor (a unique touch). Can get crowded depending on the time and day of the week. Business picks up when there is a large event at one of the three major venues in... More

Relaxed, friendly place. Casual... peanuts on the table, shells on the floor. Variety on the menu... hamburgers and much more. I had the Crab cakes which were very tasty. Would definitely go again.

Love going there any time. The beer is great, the peanuts free, the coconut cake outstanding and the crunchy floor fun?..

My recent visit to this establishment was specifically for the soft shell crabs, which they had. My instinct told me to have them hold the brown butter with almonds...and I wish had. Greasy and tasteless best describes the crabs. And I couldn't even tell if they were deep fried or sautéed. (I've made better at home.) I overheard that they... More

We had a party of 6, and we called ahead for a table. We were greeted, and seated very promptly by either the owner or the manager (not sure which). We were having dinner before a concert at the Santander Arena. We had to wait longer than normal, in a half empty restaurant, just to place our drink order. By... More

We went to Jimmie Kramer's on a night when there were 2 shows in town. Because of this, they had a limited menu; however, there were plenty of choices. We opted for the grilled seafood platter and the Tournedos Diane. The meals came with salad, starch and vegetable. (Bread available upon request). We both enjoyed our meals and were not... More

Description
Featured on the Travel Channel, this classic Reading landmark has been serving up plenty of fun and peanuts since 1924. Great American cuisine ranging from casual to gourmet. Voted "the Best in Berks" in numerous categories. Chosen 1 of USA TODAY's Top 10 Restaurants in the Nation for Wings! Reservations suggested. Plenty of attended off-street parking. Family friendly-casual atmosphere. Yes, you can still throw peanutshells on the floor. The Peanut Bar Restaurant, where peanuts are just the beginning!
