Having lived in the midlands my whole life, I had never eaten at Al's Upstairs and was looking forward to dinner. My husband and I ate here for Valentine's Day, even though our visit was actually the day after. While we were not seated by the window, we had no problem getting a table for two without a reservation. Our... More

Al's Upstairs has always been my "go to" restaurant when I want to share a wonderful time with my sweetie. The food is ALWAYS GREAT, the service is very good to excellent even when they are busy, the ambiance reminds me of other upscale NYC eateries and certainly, if you are lucky, the view from "the porch" area is just... We were brought to this restaurant by local residents who visit regularly. We arrived at dusk just in time to see a full moon rise. The restaurant offers an unobstructed view of downtown Columbia. It set the mood for a very romantic couples dinner. We were warmly greeted immediately upon arrival. We all selected different entrées and each one was... More

Recently visited Al's for a company Christmas party. I was extremely nervous about ordering the Lobster Bisque. I LOVE seafood but I HATE fish and anything that tastes fishy. I have to say that this Lobster Bisque was HEAVENLY! There was no fishy taste at all. I loved it and the puff pastry on the top was perfect! I cant... More

This was a spur of the moment decision. I had eaten here many years ago and wanted to try it again. This is a wonderful Italian restaurant with a great view of downtown Columbia. We went in without a reservation and were able to be seated at a window table, but we were early. This usually requires a reservation. The... More

This is a fine dining restaurant. The prices are a bit more than the average restaurant but the food is most definitely worth every penny spent! Nice quiet romantic atmosphere. Going out for a special occasion with that special person in your life? This place is the place to go!

The food was very good as was the service. Enough choices on menu without being overwhelming. The view is excellent so it makes for a great atmosphere for dinner.

Extremely good traditional italian dishes served with care in a setting with a metropolitan view. The Veal Saltimbocca is highly recommended.
