Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a lovely hotel on the edge of Gorey. The hotel is really nice with great food. The biggest let down was bar service, it was as poor as I have seen in any hotel that I’ve stayed in. I was told by some...locals that i was talking to at the bar that it’s like that a long time now. The management really need to sort this problem out. It would definitely make me think twice about staying again.More

Visited Ashdown Hotel on June 11th for my daughters 18th birthday. There was 6 of us for dinner. Was told before I arrived that there would be an extra charge of €3.50 pp if they wanted the hotel to cut my cake. I said no...as charging €21 for cutting a cake that I bought was extortionate. So I brought my own knife to cut my own cake. We arrived at hotel, got our table and placed cake to one side on table. We orded our meals 3 burgers, 2 lamb and turkey & ham. The burgers were nice but portions were very small. Our 2 lambs and Turkey & ham were very small portions served on frozen veg. I complained to server who said the veg wasn't frozen but it obviously was. After I complained the service to the table was sporadic at best. We were about to order dessert when the server said to us again bout the charge for cutting the birthday cake . I said I had my own knife and I was cutting my own cake. Server said that they wud charge me either way. So I put my daughters cake back into my car.We spent well over €150 in the hotel that evening and they were trying to charge me even more money for nothing.i have complained to the hotel and got no response. Totally ruined my daughters birthday. Won't be back to Hotel and wouldn't recommend the hotel for anything tbh.More

Decided to have lunch here in the Ashdown Park Hotel as we were down in Gorey. We had not visited since it was renovated and it looked magnificent and we loved the outside dining area. We found a table no problem as it was passed...the lunch hour rush. We went to the carvery counter and my friend had roast beef it looked delicious and according to her tasted as good. I had a panini which was a bit shy of filling. Would really have enjoyed more chicken and cheese. Hubby had a bowl of soup and roll. Which he enjoyed.More

I just wanted to write to say how delighted both my sister and I were with the afternoon tea we received at the Ashdown Park Hotel yesterday, Saturday 6th January. It was simply delicious - huge compliments to the chef. The scones, sandwiches, mini pavalovas...and banoffis pies were my favourite in particular. We were seated in a fabulous area by the stairs, the delph was just gorgeous and I couldn't get over the standard of the food we received as well as it's overall presentation. I have had afternoon tea in the Ashdown on numerous occasions but this was simply the best yet!!! Veronica our waitress ( I think that was her name) was so attentive and couldn't do enough for us. She was so professional and friendly and made the experience so lovely. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon treat. We will be back . Best value afternoon tea, I have ever had. Well done Ashdown Park Hotel!More
