Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent value for money. Food was superb. The Mayagi wings starter and naga chilli dip were out of this world. Service great too. Thank you for a great evening

I rarely bother writing reviews these days. Tonight, I’m writing before even leaving the restaurant. By far the finest food, drink and atmosphere of our holiday (and possibly so far this year!). Cocktails: AMAZING. Really expertly curated and made. Food: DELISH! Best Moules, Best Ribs...and Best fish we’ve ever tasted. Service. 11/10. Couldn’t be friendlier. Even disconnected a music speaker above our table for my dad who’s hard of hearing. I’m gutted we had this meal at the end of our holiday. If it had been our first night meal, we’d be back every night thereafter! Well done guys!More

Wow what can I say. We were on hoilday for a week and it was our last night on the island. We decied to eat near the hotel and picked this place on a wime. By far the best place we eat on the island....The food was fantasic and quick and the cocktails were great with a big selection. However, what really made the evening was the service. Both the waitors Jack and i think John were amazing. Great sence of humor, welcoming, professional and friendly. They are true masters of their craft. 10/10More

This place has potential however we experienced a few issues on our visit. The place looks lovely and the view is great. The staff couldn’t be more friendlier, however this is where it stops. Firstly I ordered off the Easter menu the - (Roast Lamb,...Garlic roast potatoes, spring vegetables, red wine jus) What I got was a standard roast lamb with normal sides, Yorkshire and gravy , not as described, no garlic potatoes or red wine just but probably the next item on menu (Roast sirloin of beef or Supreme of Chicken Roast potatoes, spring vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and homemade gravy.) When I queried the manager said this is how it comes, why list it differently on the menu if it’s the same?. It was ok but not what I ordered and the lamb was ridiculously chewy and inedible. I was offered a free dessert because of the meat which helped a little. The next problem was a very noisy table in the restaurant, swearing. Whilst it didn’t bother us too much, despite not being able to hear, the table next to us had a child who was clearly uncomfortable. They complained and left but the staff never did anything to ask the raucous table to keep the noise and language down for others.More

I don't normally write many restaurant reviews, normally after a bad experience my normal reaction is 'won't be going there again' So such was my disappointment with the Sugareef I felt it my duty to share my experience. I booked online, on arrival it was...very busy, not a bad thing I thought. After being shown to our table we were informed that the owner was having a party, and as the renovations upstairs hadn't been completed, he was using the downstairs bar, and the venue would be open until 1am, fair enough, over the next half hour or so more people arrived, at this point I thought to myself if you're throwing a party for friends and family just close the place to outside guests for fear of not being able to give customers a good service. There was only around 12 other diners there so surely it would have been easier to shut to the public ! However being one never to complain we stuck with it, the waitress took our order, after ordering she returned shortly after to say not only was my choice of starter unavailable but also the main. When the food arrived, all I can describe it as was 'just okay', and 'very bland'. As we were nearing the end of our meal another group of diners arrived and were seated next to our table, they were a table of 5, once they were seated I was trapped in, the guy on the end apologised unnecessarily, this was the fault of the restaurant not the diner. No apology was made by the staff for any of the issues that occured throughout the evening, maybe if there had of been or an offer of a 'drink on the house' I may not have been compelled to write this review. Such a shame as it's a really nice venue with great views and on another night food and service may have been better, next time you're having a private party, just close to the public !More

We have been walking by here for 14 years and never went in.......shame on us! Tried it for dinner at Twixmas and ended up going the following night too! Very attentive but not overpowering service, prices were reasonable and portions were excellent! Now a firm...fave for us - BUT THERE IS MORE - they are renovating the upstairs which used to be the chinese restaurant in St Brelades and in March they are opening it as a pan Asian extension to the current ground floor!!! All I can say is a huge YES PLEASE!!!!!!!! Just have the feeling it's going to be great!! Currys were excellent as were the espetada - really tasty. Thanks guys - will be back soon!More

Was taken here by friends who live in Jersey. The menu was varied and we were looking forward to a lovely evening. The waiter that served us was new but was friendly and attentive with taking the drinks order and food order. This unfortunately is...where the plus points end. After ordering the food a second waiter returned to say that one of the starters was not available no problem we choose an alternative only for the waiter to come back to say this was also not available and apologising saying it was a new menu. I ordered a starter of jumbo kings prawns in a chilli oil at £10. The starters arrived and I was presented with 4 frozen prawns in what tasted like burnt oil, it was so bad I actually could not finish the dish even though it was that small. I spoke to a waiter and asked if the prawns should be fresh which he said yes. On telling him the dish was not good he apologised and said he would inform the chef. We heard no more after that. The mains arrived and were pretty tasteless. The chicken espetada was over cooked and dry the chips were Luke warm. The salad and rice was the best part. The friend that we were with had a creamy seafood. pasta which was unfortunately swamped in cream resulting in him leaving the whole dish. At no point did any waiter return to check on us if everything was ok. The plates were cleared and we politely explained that the food was not great to the response of other people normally like it. Sadly would not recommend or return unless food and service standards are improved. Tbh real shame as great location for an evening out.More
