This review is for the beach hut and the same owner as the restaurant .we turned up today whilst out walking with friends . The man serving us was such an old grouch . There is no need as we were all being as helpful...as possible. If people are in the hospitality business you need to be polite as you are offering a service. We will not be returning to the hut . I terrified to even ask for water .as I didn’t want my head bitten off. My friend wanted a hot chocolate and was told to wait by some angry woman, so she went without. If you can’t be polite as your offering a food service then maybe get something else to do . I would not recommend this hut . Go somewhere else .More

So glad we managed to book a table for lunch here on our first fisit to Jersey. My husband and I had a fabulous late lunch. The food is so fresh, perfectly cooked and presented. In addition to the menu, there were several specials which...I could happily have eaten any of them but eventually made my choice with some helpful suggestions. We had a lovely bottle of white (a Sancerre) to accompany our fish and seafood courses. Thanks go to the staff who were lovely, knowledgeable, and patient (we were their last customers of the day). Memorable visit: I would definitely return / recommend.More

Always fabulous. A casual little beach cafe appearance deceptively hides a top class restaurant. Superb seafood - in fact superb everything. This place really is all about the food. I’ve been coming here for years and it difficult to think of something new to say...- other than to observe that excellence never goes out of fashion. Today I had gorgeous crispy duck pancakes to start followed by a sublime crab Thermidor - who even knows how to make a proper Thermidor anymore? Fabulous. My husband had fish soup (he said it was divine) and calves liver - which looked and smelled lovely. Had I not had amazing crab I would have had food envy. Good house Sauvignon and a well made negroni. Straight from heaven. Thanks Alan and team. HHMore

We had a luncheon in this restaurant. My wife tried to make a reservation well in advance by email but the owner does not like emails and accepts telephonic reservations only. Therefore we came to this restaurant at 12:00 hrs sharp and were told to...sit inside, nop other option. This restaurant has an outdated interior (see photo's) and caters mainly for local inhabitants. Other local inhabitants call this restaurant terrible with terrible service, we only found out afterwards. The "accueil" was therefore somewhat awkward. The owner is assisted by some youngsters in a peculiar master-pupil relation. There is the menu (see photo) and outside the menu there are some dishes. The food was good, though not exceptional. The price are way overrated. I had the lamb, with fresh peas and bacon, fat gratin, lettuce. My wife had shortly fried tuna. All in all good food though way over priced.More

On a lovely sunny afternoon what can be better than sitting in the courtyard of Green Island looking at the sea and eating delicious food! We visited yesterday late afternoon with friends to fit in with their new opening hours. The courtyard was almost full...and there were several tables occupied inside. Green Island is not the cheapest restaurant by any means but neither does it pretend to be. The owner reads the menu options of the day to you and every item read out sounds a treat. The average cost of a starter appears to be in the region of £16 whereas an average fish main course comes in around £35 - there is no printed menu with prices but if you know roughly what the starters and mains cost, order away and enjoy! Obviously a whole Dover Sole is going to cost more but some dishes come in slightly cheaper than average. I opted for the scallops in tomato pesto with parma ham and they were excellent. Some in our group opted for the crab and prawns which went down well but the red crab meat element was a little strong. The sardines were also a hit. Our mains were equally successful with my brill being cooked to perfection as were the lemon soles which most of our group opted for. Their home made Tartare sauce to go with the fish is a must, absolutely wonderful. Accompanying sides of Jersey Royals, skinny fries and always my go to - 'petits pois a la Francais' all hit the spot. Muscadet, Cotes de Provence Rose and several bottles of Gavi sufficed to cover all our tastes and we all left agreeing this is one of the top restaurants in Jersey, particularly if you have the option to sit outside. Not cheap but not outrageously priced either. Well recommended!More

We enjoyed our meal at Green Islands Restaurant although it was a tad difficult to find coming from St Hellier as it is not sign posted from this direction. A basic cafe type restaurant with very uncomfortable chairs. Given the quality of food and high...prices maybe time to change them! No menus given out instead the owner relays verbatim what is on offer. Ok if you have a sharp memory but it is better to relax and consider what you want to eat instead of feeling pressurised. The food was well presented and ingredients fresh although surprised that the prawn waste channels had not been deveined. A most enjoyable meal overlooking the sea. Yes pricey and yes snobby as many people have commented on. I don't have a problem with snobbishness its “ them “ that have the problem!More

Understated. Outwardly a simple beachside restaurant, however, the quality of the food is first class and the service is straightforward and relaxed. Noteworthy for its setting, food and simplicity. I has excellent plaice with veg and Jersey Royals for mains, squid, chorizo, black pudding as...a starter and cheese to finish, washed down with a decent wine list.More

We visited Green Island restaurant today, my daughter's first visit. The sun was shining and the 'Muscadet' and 'Cotes de Provence' flowed. Service was as good as always and being sat outside overlooking the sea is a treat. Tuna Tartare went down well with my...daughter and my wife and myself were delighted that the filleted Mackerel and Sardines was being served. With gooseberry chutney and tartare sauce this is a must, it was scrumptious. For mains, my daughter opted for the filleted Slip Soles with scallops and prawns whilst my wife opted for the Slip Soles as a starter portion which was generous. I went for the Halibut with a brown prawn butter which was excellent and gave my usual favourite 'Plaice' a run for its money. A portion of skinny fires, Jersey Royals, Asparagus and French Petits Pois ensured a wonderful relaxing lunch. All in all, this is a top restaurant if you are sat outside in the sun with good food and wine and one to repeat whenever the opportunity arises! First class and whereas it is not cheap, it doesn't break the bank for the quality food and experience.More

We visited Green Island restaurant yesterday with friends and in all honestly, I thought the meal was memorable. It was a nice setting sat in their courtyard and service was good. Chablis went down well as we were all going to have fish or seafood....Three of us ordered the filleted Mackerel and Sardines as a starter. This was accompanied by the most delicious home made gooseberry chutney and spoonfuls of home-made Tartare sauce. The fish was griddled to perfection with crispy skin that was delicious. I would order it time and time again but it is not always on the menu. My wife went for the tempura prawns as a main that she enjoyed whilst two of us ordered the plaice which again was beautifully cooked and a generous portion. A large dish of French peas and a portion of Asparagus were the perfect accompaniments. Along with Drifters and Quayside, Green Island is right up there in my top three Jersey restaurants. To be repeated for sure!More

Came here with friends as they are living on the island and recommended we experience it. Food was fabulous, we had the oysters, poussin soup, sardines, seafood linguine and baked Alaska. This place is an absolute gem, great setting and the owners are lovely too.
