This was a great little gem to find. The food was exceptional and the service friendly and very helpful with choosing the food. We both chose the espetada with a mix of meats and they came with chips, roast potatoes, rice and Minho and a side salad. The meal was so good we went back a couple of days later. Their set meal was very good value and never disappointed

This place was recommended and like others have mentioned we wouldn't have noticed it from the outside (name a bit naff too). Quite small inside so tables are a bit cramped so we put our ice bucket on the floor. Massive menu with so much choice. Garlic prawns were tasty but as cooked in shell they hadn't been deveined. Scallops in bacon were delicious but too much bacon so quite salty. Espedatas are impressive you can choose up to three items, steak very tender plus prawns and scallops, pork "medallions" in mushroom sauce are actually two pork chops, so a massive portion. Salad was lovely and fresh with delicious dressing (my favourite element) but sides far too big - we were given rice, chips, fried polenta cubes and roast potatoes and wasted most of it. Personally I'd prefer smaller portions, less waste and reduce the price slightly. Quite full for dessert so waitress offered to bring half portion of tiramisu to share, (although we paid for a full portion as it's on the set menu). House rose was lovely. A good find.

Brilliant Portuguese/Madeiran food at a fair prices in this unassuming small little gem away from the bustle of the town centre but still accessible. Very friendly with a nice atmosphere. The skewer dishes are superb and come with nice sides. The house wine from Dao in Portugal is very good at only £18 a bottle. The starters are good too and the Crème Brûlée desert the best. Seek this place out … you won’t regret it.

My wife and I booked a table for 7:15 pm at around 6pm as we had read lots of reviews about this restaurant and our love of Portuguese cuisine. We arrived to find that there was a large group table occupied by about 13/14 people. Our order for 2 main courses and a bottle of wine was taken by 7:30pm. It was served by 8:30 pm as the staff prioritised the large table booking and the numerous take-away orders at our expense. To add insult to injury a group of 4 arrived at 8:20 and were served their main course in 10 mins.My wife gave feedback on our meal arrival to say we had waited 50 mins and had drunk our bottle of wine ? She apologised for the long delay but unlike most reputable restaurants there was no attempt to offer compensation or address our complaint. A glass of wine or dessert would have been fine but we felt she just ignored us. Then again on the presentation of the bill - she told the waitress that the food was excellent, the service was poor and that we had been relegated as being expendable as only tourists.

We had dinner and order prawns, lamb & pork on skewers it was overcooked & part of tuna on skewer was bloody part that I personally always throw away. Prawns nice, lamb also overcooked. Sides were nicest part of meal. Also ordered tuna steak with salad & potatoes-overcooked & very dry. Sardines nice & very fresh. Very large serving of profiteroles were tasty but spongy, tasted like they’d been in fridge to long. Drinks nice & cold. Waitresses were amazing, but we felt sorry for them because it was extremely busy and they were run off their feet. Service was quite slow. I don’t blame waitresses for slow service! The owner needs to put on more staff because it reflects on the food & service!

Six of us ate here in mid September 2022. We all thoroughly enjoyed the starters - freshly grilled large sardines, garlic prawns in the shell, chicken satay skewers. All freshly cooked, lovely and hot, very tasty. Unfortunately the main courses were largely a big disappointment. Five of us had the espetadas. There was a choice of protein to put on the skewers from prawn, tuns and scallops (all bacon wrapped) to pork, lamb, beef and chorizo. Despite being asked how we wanted the beef cooked, all came vastly overcooked. Some skewers had pork when we’d ordered lamb. One person sent back a tuna steak that was over cooked and very dry. Despite this, the service was prompt and friendly. Value for money was fine. There was a good selection of Portuguese wines.

Went to Barro's to celebrate my birthday. All 18 of us were delighted. The Tennerfest menu is a great value for money. Garlic butter prawns as a starter are very good and the Espetadas were excellent. I liked the chicken, those who ordered lamb and pork, or scallops & tuna enjoyed it too. It comes with plenty of side plates such as fries, veggies, rice, fried fish squares. As for drinks, the Prosecco is nice, and the House red wine from Douro is really excellent. Nice people too !

The food was delicious both times, the atmosphere is amazing, and the staff are great - I cannot recommend it too highly. Do consider eating from the "tennerfest" menu unless you have a huge appetite as portion sizes are large. Fresh vegetables in place of salad made a very welcome change. Portuguese food (and staff) at its best.

This Portuguese restaurant does a lot of seafood given that Jersey is in the middle of great seafood. It appears to be run by a family. Service is very good. We dined there three nights. The ingredients were always very fresh. I focused on seafood and was never disappointed. If you do not plan to dine early, you may wish to consider reservations as it fills up. Prices were reasonable for the quality. Wine list had a number of Portuguese wines at reasonable prices.

We had a lovely meal here and it was such good value! We chose from the fixed price menu. For starter we both chose the Tiger Prawns. Very tasty and we loved the Portuguese bread roll. For our mains we both had Espetadas which were beautifully cooked! We had sides of Rice, Chips, new potatoes and what I think were croutons (the only thing we didn’t like as they didn’t taste very fresh) We shared a homemade Tiramisu for pudding and it did not disappoint , delicious . We had 2 bottles of the Portuguese house white which was lovely, then a brandy and port and a port on its own. The bill was just under £100 which for what we had was amazing. The staff were lovely and friendly and called a taxi for us.

My friend and I ate in for the first time on Saturday night as we couldn't get a table at our original choice of restaurant. We were not disappointed, the food was fantastic. We had garlic bread and cod fishcakes with chilli sauce which were delicious then beef and king prawn kebabs served with the best home made chips ever As all the food is made fresh to order it took a little longer but well worth the wait Highly recommended

3 couples booked here. It’s a little restaurant with a big heart. Staff very friendly & attentive. Importantly the food was excellent especially the Espetadas. I would say that I would have preferred more salad served with these & hold the rice, as the potatoes were lovely accompaniment on there own. A very enjoyable evening.

We enjoyed a starter of mini chicken skewers, and tuna on a delicious tomato and pepper base. Salt cod fish cakes and a skewer of chicken and chorizo with plenty of vegetables were delicious. We enjoyed a traditional pudding of ice cream almonds and honey.

Amazing find that we only went in to because when we walked past there was a group coming out who told us it was the most amazing food....and they weren't wrong! All the food was fantastic and portion sizes were huge and the staff were super friendly. Extremely good value too. Will go again.

I went to this restaurant with my friend On Saturday evening. What a lovely suprise, food was amazing we had garlic bread and fish cakes as starters to share, then both had mixed hanging kebab ( beef and king prawn ) plus the best chips we have both eaten. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for a reasonably priced great food 👍
