I was there with a group of work colleagues and very much enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant. The thai mussels (starter) were fantastic - generous portion and delicately flavoured sauce that complemented and did not overpower the mussels. I had the sea bream for...a main and again this was well cooked and presentedMore

Great restaurant specialising in seafood. Jersey oysters to start with were simply delicious, fresh and juicy! My wife had the prawn, crab and smoked salmon starter which was excellent. We both had half lobsters (one Thermidor and the other Grilled with Jumbo Prawns and Chorizo)....Both were very well presented and tasted absolutely wonderful. The ambiance is lovely and all the staff were professional, helpful and attentive as well as good humoured and amusing. It was especially nice that the owner took the trouble to stop at each table to ask about how we were enjoying the evening! We have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant and we will definitely eat here again when we next visit Jersey.More

During a weekend stay in St Helier, we were recommended this restaurant. Looking for a high end, seafood based dining experience of quality, we entered Quayside with high expectations! With money to spend on a top quality restaurant, we asked the waiter ( sommelier nowhere...to be seen ) for an expensive, top of the range, Champagne, only to be told it wasn’t available. We selected two other alternatives on the same list - both not available ! So we were then forced to purchase THE most expensive bottle of Champagne on the wine list. First world problem I know, but it wasn’t what we wanted. Our food was good. But by no means exceptional. Including fresh fish, surf and turf and crab bisque. However, it appeared the same or very similar sauce was present in some way, on most dishes, just in a different bowl! The table behind us was comprised of two female oyster virgins, who proceeded to gag, spit out into napkins or expel their dining experience immediately, before offering their unwanted cast offs to us. No thanks! Service was trying too hard and not making a mark. And the most unfortunate part of the evening was the plastic flowers and simply terrible music being piped directly into diners ears, straight from the 70’s …. Which, if you are a fan of Englebert Humperdink, or over 70 years old, then great! The owner was suddenly present ( as if by magic upon the most expensive champagne being ordered) but at no point offered an apology for the lack of champagne available on his wine list. The sommelier brought us a complimentary glass each of ‘looky likey’ lemon cello (not) to cover the mishaps, but we left, in haste, as our 12 minute wait for a taxi suddenly became 2 minutes and we had to leave or loose it ! All in all, great was just ok. Shame.More

We made a last minute reservation for a table for 2 on on a Sunday evening during our trip to Jersey. The experience was excellent, from the moment we arrived the staff were pleasant and efficient. The restaurant was full, including a large group celebrating...a 70th birthday party, however the service was fast and the experience very pleasant. We ate oysters, crab timbale, surf and turf and sea bass and all were excellent. We would thoroughly recommend trying the Quayside.More

Went for Sunday lunch to celebrate some family birthdays and a catch-up. There wasn't the usual Sunday menu and just the normal a-la-carte with the option of roast beef or lamb, which tbh I preferred as there was more choice. The food was mixed on...the table, half had a good meal, the other mediocre. The fish was good, especially the plaice dish and the roast beef. The brie starter was disappointing, duck main could have been anything as it was drowned in sauce and prawn curry not that flavorsome. I think if you did go here have the fish as that is what they are good at, and the fish portions were very good and worth the price. Unfortunately there was also an issue with noise. The place was SO loud. Music blaring out of the speakers, so much that you couldn't hear yourself think, even when we had asked three times for it to be turned down a little. Some of the servers couldn't even hear us to take the orders properly and we all kind of left with either ringing ears or a headache.More

We had tried to book in to this restaurant on a previous visit but it was fully booked. We managed on this occasion to get a table but sadly very disappointing. The interior was lovely however if there was need to exit in an emergency...it would be disastrous. Tables so tightly packed in that even the staff struggled to find a way. One of our starters did not come and the waiter had to ask again what we had ordered even though he wrote it down. One of the main courses was also incorrect. I would avoid the steak as it was dry and tough. The only nice touch is the owner going to each table to say hello. I would definitely not be returning.More

We visited last evening with friends and couldn't have been more pleased. We had a round table in the conservatory area under the heaters and it was cosy and atmospheric. Service was very good from all the staff we interacted with. The wine by the...glass was very reasonably priced meaning that each of us could drink the wine we preferred. Warm, delicious bread was brought to the table and we placed our order. My Coquilles St Jacques was light and really tasty with well cooked scallops and a delicious sauce. Two in our group opted for the crab and prawn cocktail and were equally pleased. For mains on the 'Tennerfest' menu most of us ordered the Steak Diane with a delicious side Salad and piping hot crispy chips. It was excellent. The Fish Pie was also well received. Being greedy, two of us had the Crepes Suzette with ice cream and again, it was first class. The total bill came to just over £50 a head which was great value for the quality and quantity of food and wine we consumed. We are booked in again the week after next - I may well go for action replay. The restaurant coped very well indeed with the lack of gas impacting Jersey at the moment and Quayside deserved its full and bustling restaurant. Another top 'Tennerfest' from Quayside!More

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal on Wednesday of this week, delicious food, good wine selection and excellent and attentive service throughout from very pleasant staff, including a brief chat with Martin the owner. We therefore booked again for Thursday evening - big mistake! We arrived...at 5.54pm for our 6.00pm booking, to be firstly ignored and then told “staff are having their meals, you’ll need to come back later” ……. I thought they were filming a new series of Candid Camera, however, we came back at 6.02pm and got seated. It was completely different staff, who were either new, untrained or arrogant, it appeared that the waitresses were doing most of the work. Several things were not done correctly sadly, so I cannot really recommend this restaurant.More

My daughter and I visited this restaurant on the 10th September and were impressed with the decor and how attentive the staff were. We decided to share some calamari, which were probably the best calamari I’ve ever eaten. We both decided on the Thai mussels...for our main course, as we had eaten Thai mussels on a trip to Cape Town that were delicious. The restaurant was fairly busy and we were happy to wait for our main course. But as time moved on we began to wonder what was going on. We overheard a customer complain about the service as they were leaving the restaurant, which increased our concern as to when we would get served. Eventually a young waiter came over and said he would check with the kitchen as to where our mains where. He came back and said they wouldn’t be long. By this time we had been waiting a long time. Eventually the mains were produced, but they way were nothing like the description on the menu. Basically they were steamed mussels dumped on a layer of Thai sauce. No Bok Choi included and we were concerned that the mussels had actually been properly cleaned. We expressed our concerns to the restaurant manager who stated that they were very busy and short of staff. Not sure that was an appropriate excuse for the poor service and poor quality food. She offered us a glass of dessert wine as compensation for the service issues. We accept this gesture, but we would not go back and eat there again.More
