Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were there on a Sunday for lunch when they operate a reduced menu, so whilst the range on offer was somewhat limited they also had a range of filled sandwich rolls (served with chips) which were perfect for a quick lunch. The restaurant is...a converted abattoir (slaughterhouse) and the carcass hanging rails with hooks are still in place, very visible from the mezzanine floor that’s been installed, a very good conversion of an old building.More

Diners with long hair be advised! Take extra care in The Slaughterhouse St Peter Port. My hair caught fire - flames and smoke - as it brushed the naked flame of one of the oil burner table lights that were placed on each table. I...hope the management will consider replacing the table lights with something safer. The attitude of the management was to push back - After such a shock and the loss of a chunk of hair they eventually condescended to take off the cost of one pint of beer from our total bill!More

We popped here for lunch before going back to our ship as very close to our pick up point in the harbour. We were 2 adults and one teenager, we had not been before or seen it online or anything. On arrival we were greeted...and shown to a table and our drink order quickly taken. The food was nice and hot and good sized pirtions. My wife and I had fish and chips, the fish was very good and big chunky chips. Our youngest had a burger made up & cooked exactly as she was asked. The burger was thick and she loved it. A very nice place and obviously popular as it started to fill quickly. If i come back to St Peters Port i'll definately eat there againMore

We spent 2 weeks in guernsey and ate out most nights. This was easily this worst service we had in any restaurant. The waiting staff could not care less about the guests and we're just there for their wages. Food was ok but overall not...worth a visit.More

we had children with us so perhaps were eating earlier than some. I imagine the atmosphere would be very different at night. Both the food and the service were very good

Beautifully styled restaurant with friendly bar staff and a lovely atmosphere. My cheese soufflé starter was light and delicious. However, my main course of ribs was so dry and overcooked that it was inedible. My husband chose skate wing with a butter sauce which arrived...as a chunk of fish in a batter of some sort and completely dry. Nobody came to ask if our food was okay, and when the waitress came once we had to put our knives and forks down and asked how our meal was, we informed her that it had been too dry to eat. The manager arrived and we discussed this with him. He agreed that the ribs were very overcooked and he said that the skate wing had been rolled. My husband pointed out that there was no reference to this on the menu, and therefore that was not what he was expecting, but it was mainly that it was extremely dry. we then received the bill which had been discounted by a third for the main courses. When we asked to speak to the manager again, the waitress, who was extremely professional and polite at all times, said that he was “busy“ and that if we did not pay the revised bill, she would have to make up the difference. We said this seemed ridiculous and she said that “”someone” would have to pay for the difference. She disappeared again and reappeared with a further discount – not the whole amount of the main courses - and we paid the bill. It was quite shocking that the manager was prepared to allow a young waitress to have to deal with the situation when he should have been the one speaking to us. We told her she was in no way to blame and that it was quite shocking that he would put her in that position. What a disappointing end to what could have been a lovely evening – it really did not matter that we had not eaten much, and when the manager had said that he welcomed constructive criticism and they could always do better, he clearly didn’t mean any of those words.More

Firstly, try to forget the name of the place as it simply describes what the building was over a hundred years ago. As might be expected, the main focus of the menu is meat, but they also offer a choice of seafoods and vegetarian options....The quality of the food is terrific and excellent value for money. The staff are very friendly, efficient and attentive. Without a shadow of doubt, this is the best place to eat in town and possibly the whole island.More

Our best dining experience in St Peter Port. The food was tasty and generous. Service was excellent and the whole place had a real ‘buzz’ about it. Definitely recommend and will return.

Myself and my colleague just finished work and decided to catch something to eat on our way back to our hotel and we’re dressed in casual Clothes - jeans and sweat shirts and as soon as we went in you could see the waiter did...not want us in there No good evening just do you want a drink in a uninvited tone I said we would like some dinner and he stood over a pc and then said have we booked - the place was less than a third full and he is tutting away soni said are you double busy He got two menus and March us to the back area which was empty- it was like you can come in but I will put you in an area where you will not stay At the table he threw the menus fine and walked off / unbelievable We finally got served by a waitress who was a little better The good was ok but the attitude towards PAYING guest is rubbishMore

We visited in May with sky princess. It’s a shame they can’t put tables facing the marina. So nice on a sunny day. Chilling with a 🍺. Ladies toilets are tucked away and tricky to find but maybe it’s me!!!
