Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

i come here regularly on nights out with friends and I have consistently heard the blond female manager (I believe her name is Chantelle) being completely dismissive and rude of her staff and customers and behaving like a bully. She spoke to me in a...very patronising and snappy way and also swore at me on two separate occasions. I understand being a manager of a busy venue is stressful but her job is to manage not to offend customers and intimidate her staff. I have seen her behaving in a bullying way to four young staff members and she has a reputation among customers as being a bully. Me and my friends have stopped coming here due to her individual behaviour, we do not want to support a business with such rude and poor management. All other staff seem very polite and friendly, however they seem rather run down and stressed out by Chantelle's presence and awful management skills and this is not acceptable. Please address this.More

All other staff at this place were really welcoming and accommodating as I understand that it’s a busy time of year, and as a young person myself, fully understand how stressful this time of year can be for young workers. But a blonde female member...of staff with pink Tassle earrings was extremely rude. I was told to ‘f*ck off’ and move out of the way when my card declined at the bar. I will accept this happening If it’s the truth and I am out of funds, however, this was not the case here, and several of my friends then tried to pay for drinks and their cards also declined, and I was told to ‘shut up’ by the same member of staff when I tried to suggest that this may have been a card machine issue and not my personal problem. I was upset from this experience and learned, when I spoke to friends who experienced similarly extremely rude and unwelcoming customer experience from the same staff member that I was not alone. I would never, ever personally single out a staff member without good reason, but I believe it is entirely inappropriate to have a staff member speak and treat paying customers in such a way. Malfunctions happen, I absolutely understand, but you employ a level of not only professionalism, but basic human decency when dealing with customers. I don’t know what sort of action is appropriate to be taken in such a situation and I would hate for this to be hugely detrimental to anyone. However, it’s just really not on from a great establishment that is so well loved, and guernsey should pride itself on, and all other members of staff provided a wonderful experience despite being under pressure, therefore I would not comment unless absolutely necessary, but that level of unprofessional and plain rudeness experienced by more than just I, should not be tolerated.More

We had a good bar meal for £10 as part of tennerfest (pate, burger and lemon posset for me). Well presented. Sports bar. The bar is a few minutes walk off the main shopping street.

Been here twice this week for their pizza menu. The pizzas are absolutely lovely. It’s very casual dining experience but the staff are really friendly and we had a lovely time.

Great place for meeting up with friends or family. Popular with business people after work. Well stocked bar and you can get food brought over from the main pub.

A brilliant pub garden, really lively with good music. However the staff couldn’t be bothered serving the customers. Three of the bar staff stood in the corner chatting while the obviously new member of staff tried to find her way round the bar. When I...asked for a tall glass I was told I could have a half or a pint glass, I was drinking a spritzer! The bottles of Peroni were warm so we asked for a glass to see if that would make it a bit better, we were given a warm glass straight from the dishwasher. There are lots of good pubs in Guernsey needless to say we won’t be back.More

Vibrant and classic. The beer garden is a great place to start an evening out. BUT, the space heaters, make a nonsense of environmental awareness.

I pass The Prince of Wales almost every day but had never been in. One morning on my way to work, I stopped to examine the menu displayed by the door and the ramen option jumped out at me. It's one of my favourites, and...only one other place on the island (to my knowledge) serves it, so naturally I had to give it a try. I returned during my lunch break on what was one of the sunnier days we've had recently, so decided to sit in the outdoor beer garden. There wasn't much room left, as many others seemed to have the same idea to make the most of the sunshine, but I found a small area in view of the bar. I ordered the beef ramen, which consisted of beef, noodles, mange tout, bamboo shoots, ginger and a boiled egg in Japanese broth. This arrived very quickly in a huge, very filling portion. It was spicy, which I did not expect as this was not mentioned on the menu, so beware anyone who doesn't like a little heat! I would hesitate to call this ramen, as it was definitely more of a westernised version than a traditional dish. Some staple elements that you would expect, such as seaweed, a soft boiled egg rather than hard boiled, and scallions, were missing or replaced with more western ingredients. However, whatever it was, it was very tasty, filling and good value for money at £11.50 (£8.50 without meat). The service was very fast and friendly, and I was done with time to spare before having to return from my lunch hour. In particular, the service from the outside bar staff was excellent. The young woman running the bar that day was full of energy and banter with all the patrons, and really added a light, friendly touch to the service.More

We had walked up this area a number of times in the past but had not noticed the Prince of Wales.. We first saw The Coal Hole which is next to the main Prince of Wales and then saw the Gardens on the opposite side-all...are part of the Pub. We called into the garden and just had drinks-the only downside was the beer had to come from a bottle. It was a nice day so enjoyed sitting in this outside area and talking to the friendly and informative barman. Will certainly come again when next here.More
