Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My first visit last year was fabulous, today overall was a let down, miserable service by the staff, no smiles or hello, vegetable pie was hot and tasty, waiter came over to take a menu we had on the table while we were eating without...excuse me can I take this please, just put his hand over and took it, very disappointed, there was a draught coming from somewhere too, it was chillyMore

Sorry the service was incredibly slow, coke was flat, liver and bacon special the liver was uncooked in the middle and the chicken salad the chicken was tough. I was ill from the panini I had. Tried to call the next day just to let...you know and save others, recipient wasn't interested. Said I'd be called back. I wasn't. First time visitor. Birthday treat. Appreciate rural and staff trying their best but being ill post lunch isn't cool.More

We recently had breakfast at the Diner whilst the service and food was great I noticed huge cobwebs by the blinds . They looked like they’d been there sometime .

Stopped at this Diner for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The Homemade Steak pie was delicious and very filling. Service was good and prices reasonable. We'll worth the visit.

We were held up in traffic and the chef waited for us even though he was due to go home! All the staff welcomed us including the chef who cooked us a delicious meal each! The vegetarian moussaka was superb and the roast lamb was...excellent! The cake selection was so varied and portions were huge! Nothing was too much trouble and we were absolutely spoiled! Thank you so much!More

Cafe close to my home which we usually just drive past as seems a bit charmless… however decided to try it out for a breakfast. Most dry and terrible cooked breakfast I’ve ever had. Also very overpriced for what you get. Was literally just egg,...sausage, bacon and toast. You have to pay extra for any beans, tomatoes or mushroom etc which would make it less dry, I would’ve expected at least beans or tomatoes as these usually come with a breakfast. The place lacked character/friendliness and staff seemed lacklustre Overall not a great experience and would not return despite the convenient locationMore

A planned picnic on Dartmoor had to be abandoned due to pouring rain. We decided to move on to The Dartmoor Diner following a friends recommendation. The car park was full and as we had not booked we enquired as to the possibility of lunch....Our luck was in there was a table for four left. The waitress who showed us in could not have been more helpful. My wife was in an electric chair and this lady moved furniture. around to make sure we were seated comfortably. She was brilliant. As for the food it matched the service. No fine dining here but honest to goodness Devon food cooked in true Dartmoor style. Honest portions of local produce looking good and tasting even better. Highlights of the lunch were roast turkey with all the trimmings and liver and bacon and onions. Brilliant! Well done Dartmoor Diner in every respect. We shall return making sure we book next time.More

We booked here for a carvery on a late Sunday afternoon. We are advised the carvery would only be available if there was some left as we chose to eat at 3pm. On arrival we found the entrance a little crowded as the carvery and...the till to pay are right in front of you. Its a little cramped by the entrance. After sitting down our drinks and food order was taken, luckily enough there was carvery available which 3 out of our 4 chose to have. The other opted for Chicken and Ham Pie with carvery veg. (This come plated up). The gentlemen behind the bar was very entertaining and looked after us as we were sat near there and he even Devised when to go up and get the carvery so that we would be all eating together when the pie was ready. There was plenty of choice of veg and all very tasty with 3 choices of meat. There wasn't lots left but enough for us. A special mention about the parsnips with craked black pepper as these were delicious. All in all we had a nice meal and the staff are very helpful and friendly. We would definitely go back for a carvery but for us we are happy to run the risk of none being left and go later as we can imagine at the busy times its a bit hectic being such a small venue.More

The young man working on his own was the reason for the 1 star. If it wasn't fir him I'd much rather put 0. I had the chicken and ham pie my partner had hunters chicken. It was microwaved!! It was that microwaved that the...pastry to my pie was hard. My partner ate a handful of chips and one bite of chicken and stopped it was that bad. Such a shame really because we've heard such good things about this place. An absolute waste of £40.More
