We stopped for a pub lunch whilst visiting Dartmoor a few weeks ago. There was a large party going on in the restaurant with what seemed to be only two members of staff to serve them and the bar. We thought we would be in for a bit of a wait, but could not have been more wrong. We were... More

We booked for a Sunday carvery as 2 families (total of 9 of us altogether), and were delighted to be shown to a large room of our own with its own little snug area - the teenagers were delighted. Staff were attentive, roast beef was cooked to perfection - we'd certainly recommend it.

Had a lovely lunch at the Highwaymans Haunt on Monday. They have a 2 course lunch menu for £12. For starters I had mussels in a creamy garlic sauce and my husband had creamy garlic mushrooms and for main we both had beer battered fish with chips and mushy peas it was delicious. The fish was cooked perfectly and the... More

The menu is limited but what they do serve they do very well. The staff are friendly and helpful. Tuesday nights is quiz night which is quite fun although the quiz master is a touch on the arrogant side and likes to show his superior knowledge which is easy when you have the answer in front of you.

Ate lunch here today. The quality of food in the carvery was excellent - everything was hot and delicious. Desserts were OK. Would definitely revisit.

Lovely atmosphere, relaxing and quiet. I asked what fish of day was and was told it was Haddock so I ordered it, I was obviously lied to as it was not Haddock but some tasteless cheap fish that was not edible. Shame as apart from that we enjoyed it.

Just had a family meal for six, and felt I had to leave this review. The food wasn't very nice at all, £17 duck was so fatty and tough as an old boot. My rump steak, (ordered medium) was raw, and very fatty. Chips a wash in watery blood from the raw meat. The other steak was too fatty to... More

We are local people who eat at the HH regularly; however, on arriving today at 3.50p.m., we were told: 'There's no food until 5pm. We've been very busy and the kitchen can't cope'. So we walked out and came home - a complete waste of our time and six miles' worth of petrol! Obviously, this business does not value local,... More

The Highwayman's Haunt is a traditional country inn with its origins dating back to the 13th Century. Nestled in 4 acres of garden and paddocks, just on the outskirts of the town of Chudleigh, the Inn has beautiful views looking out over the Devon hills. Sit back and enjoy your drink, and a meal maybe, whilst the children can play on our purpose built play tower situated on the lawns. With a warm welcome for all - including your dogs, even your horse!Families and 'mucky boot' friendly...we look forward to welcoming you soon.
