We first visited the church house inn five years ago and was delighted to find it again. Only to find the staff and landlord to be even more welcoming. Beer great food even better. Dog friendly with biscuits for him. More than accommodating for our hardly mobile oldies. We wished our local was like this one.

Delicious food and friendly atmosphere. The pub made us feel very welcome and I would definitely like to visit again.

A beautiful day sat outside this 13th centuary inn. A very good menu, the steak and black pudding pie was superb as was the fish and chips, some good local beers and ciders. The ice cream was superb as was the crumble for dessert.

This 13th Century Inn is beautiful. Bar staff lovely and friendly. Food excellent and plentiful. Great selection on Specials Board. Lots of little alcoves to eat in. Sadly, experience spoilt by Landlord having a full on telephone row with his Bank. It sounded heated and loud. Not really necessary with diners eating especially when coming for a birthday meal. Otherwise... More

Took friends for trip on the moors and found this pub I'd forgotten! it's where Charles Kingsley wrote The Water Babies and others, last visited by me many years ago. Was pleasantly surprised by the host who was very welcoming and very helpful. Food and drinks ordered again very good no complaints and very tasty at reasonable prices

A great village pub with very friendly, welcoming staff who can't do enough for you. The beer is good, the food is excellent with a wide range and very large specials board. When we enquired about Lobster being available Thursday the landlord even got them in especially and kept the alive until we arrived. All n all a great eating... More

Not having been to this pub since around the 80’s with the Newton Bushell Morris men, it was a pleasure to return twice in three days! The first time was just a drop-in for lunch (sausages & mustard mash) and a pint as we met friends there who were ‘glamping’ just up the road– but it was then that we... More

This is a genuine establishment. The food is local, home cooked and fantastic. The staff are brilliant too. I have taken my (young) family here on several occasions and it is the place we take visitors from out of town. We have several very "foodie" friends from London who have all been seriously impressed with the food, not just the... More

We dined here when staying overnight as there are not actually many options locally - but we were not disappointed. My venison steak (followed by bread & butter pudding) was fine, and the other two guys seemed to enjoy their rump steaks, accompanied by some good ales. The place seemed popular with other local diners too - their meals looked... More
