We ate here after a long day out from Cornwall and it was well worth the treck. The location is superb, the pub really inviting and without doubt one of the best Sunday lunches ever. We will return.

We had booked a table for 6 for a 2pm Sunday roast, as we were all travelling at least 100 miles to meet up. A lovely warm and friendly welcome. My husband and I started with a hot drink whilst we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. We were shown how the heating controls worked so that... More

The Cleave is one of the few successful blends of local pub and excellent cuisine. The cooking is easily as good as, and frequently better than, in many of the local hotels. The menu changes regularly, which means there always yet another good reason for going back to see what's happening. The cosiest part is in the lounge bar in... More

Went for lunch today. Sat in the corner by the bar. Bar staff very helpful and friendly. Pint of Legend was well legendary. Food was utterly delicious, I had the home smoked salmon utterly sublime. What a proper pub should be walkers, dogs, real ale and great food.

Stopped in for a few dinner time drinks whilst out walking ,received a very nice welcome from friendly staff member ,small choice of real ales that were well kept .It would have been easy to have stayed longer as it was a nice atmosphere with a nice open fire .

We went to Lustleigh hoping to find that Primrose Cottage had re-opened but, alas, no such luck. We adjourned to The Cleave for refreshment and found the owner, Ben, at the bar. Very friendly and welcoming and up for a chat. Lovely old thatched pub in a beautiful setting with a wonderful beer garden for those pleasant sunny days. Recommended.

We are staying in the village for a week and have done Saturday dinner and Sunday lunch so far . Great roast meats and very good beer . Friendly service. What else is needed ? Excellent country walks in the area up the local valley ( called a cleave down here hence the name of the pub )

We have just discovered The Cleave, while on our yearly weekend break in Devon. I say "discovered", actually it was a recommendation in the welcome pack at our accommodation, so it shows it pays to read these things! The Cleave is tucked away in the small village of Lustleigh, roughly 3 miles north of Bovey Tracey. It is easy to... More
