Arrived after walking a 14 mile section of our Land's End to John o'Groats charity walk. Landlord Peter made us feel very welcome and we were able to camp just across the road. Good choice of food. We started by sharing a garlic bread then I had chilli, jacket potato and salad and Dave had the steak sandwich and chips... More

Dartmoor has its moments but this day wasn't one of them, so it was a great relief to stop here. A warm fire greeted us, warmer than the bar lady's' at least. However, cottage pie for me and vegetarian pie for him, more than made up for it. Very promptly served, both were really tasty. Definitely worth stopping for

Unfriendly. No warm welcome here.. Owner took one look at my perfectly well behaved daughter and banished us to a cold, soulless badly furnished side room for no reason that we could determine . Plenty of other pubs are happy to have children near the fire and there was space to spare. Such a shame. No point having a fire-that-never-goes-out... More

My partner and I fell in love in this pub and over the years it became the pub on Dartmoor we would end up after a good days walking. We fell in love so much with the surrounding area so much we moved nearby in 2014. Being one of the local pubs we don't visit it quiet as often as... More

We Went here for lunch today (12/02/2016). A gorgeous pub. It was particularly overcast and wet but the pub was very warm and lovely. We had some food which was served very quickly and was great. The pint of otter was great too. There is a lot of seating outside which gives amazing views on a better day. I would... More

A proper pub that serves good food and beer and there is always a warm welcome. We often visit when out for a drive[a pair of pensioners]for some lunch. Pies are delicious and ploughmans most enjoyable, washed down with a guest beer what more could we want? Don't miss if in the area.

Lovely atmosphere and a warm welcome. We ate the Ploughmans and cheesy chips, both were delicious with good portions.

We were travelling through the Moors after a respite break in Devon . What a fantastic pub , both the landlady and the lady-on-the-bar were welcoming and even reassured me that when I ordered my vegetarian lunch it was genuinely vegetarian ( which is a godsend ) The canelloni was good and the ale was kept beautifully . We were... More
