Having visited the Plume of Feathers 41 years ago on a Sunday to watch Porridge plate, we decided after 15 years to revisit the old place for a lunch with our Grandson only to find it has no gone under and closed. A shame really,...however, yet another place that has not advised anyone about what is happening and this too must fall to a very time wasted journey of 80 minutes.More

This is an excellent pub right in the heart of Dartmoor. We were staying just outside of Princetown and visited the Plume of Feathers three nights in a row. Sometimes just for a drink, and sometimes to eat too. They were very welcoming and friendly...and the staff also went out of their way to be welcoming to our dog, bringing her treats and making a fuss of her. The food was fantastic and the portions were enormous. They do a good range of food too, with some unusual and interesting flavour combinations - not just your usual boring pub food. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I wish it was my local.More

Return visit to this pub after finding it last year. Even with the current restrictions the staff go out of their way to ensure you enjoy your visit. The food is the best pub food we have had since coming to Dartmoor for an annual...holiday with our dog, the pub still caters for your doggy companion with fresh cooked sausages. Cannot recommend this place enoug.More

Today after a long walk ,we decided to have some lunch . After waiting a good 10 mins to be seated and ignored by every member of staff , we got seated at a dirty table (had not been wiped ) not great under the...circumstances,we eventually got served my daughter had a cold drink which arrived quickly however my tea took 20mins to arrive .We ordered our food and after 1hr and 10mins after catching the eye of the elusive staff questioned where our food was . She came back and said 1min which in fairness it probably was about five . It came out no apology nothing my daughters looked edible mine on the other hand (ham, egg, and chips) the eggs were solid and looked like they’d been on the griddle for the full 1hr 10mins the ham was grey it resembled Chinese pork in colour absolutely vile chips had been refried so many times they were either shells or rock solid . I wanted to send it back but never saw anyone to say and my hunger got the better of me I attempted to eat it well picked at it . When we did eventually see someone we asked for the bill. When it was brought over we got asked if everything was ok . I did say politely that the ham was disgusting was so old it was grey .The waiter actually agreed and said he’d have a word with chef . Again no apology .My Family and I along with friends have used this pub a lot over the years and I know things are different at the moment but if you charge over £10 for ham, egg, chips then it should at least be edible. They have no snacks like the baguettes and sandwiches like they used to have only high priced items so if your hungry you have no choice but to have that . They said they had to slash their menu choices due to social distancing in the kitchen which I get but pre made baguettes/sandwiches etc maybe could be available. Overall I won’t be returning gone rapidly down hill ,extremely poor quality food and appallingly bad service. Shame used to be great !More

I have been eating in the plume of feathers for many years and it was always outstanding in every way. Last Sunday 18/10/20 I took some visiting relatives there as I had been bigging it up for a while. I was so embarrassed that I...had to apologise to them for the dismal experience. The waiter took an age to take our order, the food when it arrived was not as we ordered, but the concerning thing was that the tables were not wiped or sanitised between sittings, ours was very wet and still had food on it. I will not be returning and I will no longer bet recommending it, so dissapointedMore

Not what it used to be. Visited with family on a weekend. Mixed message around yesterday and trace at the bar. Took ages to be served. Took an hour for food to arrive - no notice in advance of this. Meals were not as the...menu - items missing etc. Waitress couldn’t really be bothered. Table next to us had similar issues so I know it wasn’t just us! What a shame. I won’t be returning or recommending :(More

We stayed in our motorhome & ate in the pub. Plenty of choice on menu, good food, generous portions. Staff friendly & efficient. Covid precautions well managed & did not spoil the pub’s wonderful character.

Huge portions and good British recipes - warm and belly filling! I had the cod and chips and it was so big it almost needed two plates. the skin on chips were delicious and home cooked versus frozen and the staff were great considering COVID...restrictions adding to their workload.More
