Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely fabulous, we both had beef in ale pie, came with leeks, parsnips and peas, and we ordered chips that were crispy and a generous portion. We asked for extra gravy and it was beautiful home made with bits of beef in it. No craft...lager but the Carlsberg was probably the best I've ever had, my wife's Shiraz was also very good. 5* for everything.More

One of the warmest welcomes ever to this cosy pub on a cold and wet April evening. The atmosphere was only topped by the food - the apple/pear crumble (with custard of course!) now at number one on my list of best ever!

We visited today for the first time without a booking, the place was packed but the friendly ladies at the bar found us a table in the corner bar area for us and our Jack Russell. We had a really lovely fish pie (gluten free)...and another really good steak and ale pie too. Very friendly service and a beautiful pub, I’ll definitley be back.More

Ordered the steak and ale "pie", it was nice but it wasn't a pie. A pie is defined by its crust which this sadly lacked. I'd describe this more as a topped stew in a porcelain dish. Chips good, peas good, parsnips good, creamed leaks...good, pint of Legend good. Solid three out of five! 🤘More

The Rigglestone Inn was a quaint old pub a kilometer outside of Widecombe in the Moor and definitely had some atmosphere both inside and the outdoor area as well. The food was acceptable but typical English pub style and worth a visit.

We visited on Sunday lunchtime in January and the pub and garden were packed, a good sign on arrival! We were a group of 5 with three dogs, and although the pub is cosy and intimate we didn’t feel constrained. The landlady was lovely and...clearly proud of the pub and its offering. Food was fantastic piping hot and delicious, it took a while, but the pub was busy and we were advised that everything was freshly prepared. A little treasure and centrally located just outside Widecombe in the Moor. We will be back!More

I love this place and have eaten here many, many times. Many loved dishes have been cut back in portion, ingredients, quality and care. My two course meal was so bland, no thrills and tasteless. Pate on toast is just that…nothing else, no garnish, no...nothing. Had Camembert cheese for main…..crusty bread on side…that was it! No side salad, no garnish, nothing added of note to cheese. Poorest meal I have ever had. I am gutted that this establishment has changed. Absolutely gutted!!!!!More

Charming country pub on Dartmoor with very pretty garden. We had dinner and whilst the food was good, the member of staff on duty didn't welcome us and we felt as if we were rather an inconvenience. The bar and adjacent rooms are small and...rather overcrowded with tables etc. That said, would return and hopefully get a rather more welcoming member of staff on duty!More

We have been to the rugglestone many of times and have stayed at the cottage next door too. We always are so happy with the food and service, unfortunately this time we were not happy! The food was amazing as usually all praise to the...chief. But I would suggest looking into a member of staff there who was continuously rude to us and has a very bad attitude problem. We don’t appreciate having eyes rolled up at up when I asked if it was ok to have two minutes to look at desserts. For the attitude we got we refused to order dessert. I am a business owner myself, if I lost money from potential customer for my staff being rude I would not be happy! In this current climate no business can afford to loose any. I understand Christmas is busy and staff are tired but myself and my family are very polite and patient and we expect this in return.More

I live about 10 minutes walk away from this marvellous pub. It's a great place to drop into for a pint after going on a walk. I usually sit at the bar and often get to chat with other customers and the very friendly staff,...in particularly Ness the landlady who is an excellent source of local information. The draught beer is poured directly from barrels set on a low bench behind the bar. I particularly like the Rugglestone Moor Beer which is brewed exclusively for this pub by Teignworthy Brewery in Newton Abbot! The Rugglestone also serves excellent food which you can either eat inside the pub or in the very nice garden with a stream and views to the high moorland hills which surround the village.More

Wonderful location and the pub itself is gloriously quaint and rustic BUT the food is seriously underwhelming . A small menu often is a sign of good quality, but not this time. Veg barely present, chips not remotely “chip like “ and do not go...near the treacle tart. Could not begin. To imagine what it contains , but little in the way of treacle.More

Very disappointed, a country pub on Dartmoor and no roast on the menu on a Sunday!! Had the steak and ale pie which was reasonable, the mash was tasteless and the veg consisted of a portion of peas and a small portion of red cabbage....No gravy on the side. There was no heating in the small section of the pub we were in, we were both cold and there were too many tables crammed into too small an area.More
