Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was probably the best Sunday roast we have had out or a long time. Everything was cooked to perfection, from the beef to the veg, and the service was excellent. This is a restaurant that is well organised and good.

This pub is a real find. Lovely atmosphere, lots of character, friendly and efficient staff and above all wonderful food. We defy anyone to get a better pub lunch on Dartmoor. Our only disappointment was that we didn't meet Harry, the resident ghost. Thank you...for a wonderful lunch.More

Amazed at how big this pub was. Looks tiny from the outside but spreads out TARDIS like when you're in. Had 2 of their excellent pizzas between 3 and drinks in the large beer garden. All very good. Hope to return soon.

Excellent pub , plenty of tables inside and out. Great venue summer or winter. Menu is outstanding focused on locally sourced high quality produce. Ales are always cared for, with a good selection. Friendly landlord always greets with a smile. Takes great care in customers...having a great visit. Highly recommend the ploughmans, a generous serving of lovely quality ham and cheese, amazing bread, which is served warm so you have a fresh out of the oven taste. Delicious and a favourite of mine through the summer.More

Very busy pub but efficient service and friendly staff. We just turned up on a bank holiday without a reservation, pub was busy but we got a table and although busy the meal was served in good time and was a nice meal. Seemed efficient...and well run pub in a superb location within Dartmoor.More

Amazing restaurant! The food is absolutely amazing. I had the “Elstone farm” burger which was delicious and the chocolate fudge cake for dessert was great too. If you ever find yourself in this quaint village and are hungry then definitely come here!

As always a great meal. The food is always good quality & choice. The atmosphere despite being busy & alot of families was fine. Despite the review from another 'local' who critised just about everything the food is of good quality & the staff are...great.More

We are frequent customers at the Old Inn and always enjoy visits. The food is excellent and reasonably priced and the staff are always helpful and friendly. Altogether a very friendly and welcoming place.

The Old Inn is a big favourite of ours and others it seems; we have had to get used to booking a table because it gets so busy. The food is excellent; the menu is large and interesting, the service friendly and efficient. We particularly...like the comfort and ambience of this historic building. Beware, it is not really a drinking pub (those days seem to have passed), you can get a drink, of course, but the business of this place is food; and that it does supremely well. We think the prices compare very favourably with the local alternatives and the decider for us is that local people seem to like it tooMore

We were visiting friends in Devon and went out for the day and on our travels decided to stop off for drinks at this pub. It was quite deceiving from the outside as to how large this was on the inside. A lovely pub and...great service which I find rare today in a lot of pubs. It was a shame we had eaten before as the food being served looked amazing. Next time I'm down in that neck of the woods I would most definitely go out of my way to visit.More

We had dinner here last Saturday. Very disappointing unfortunately. What appears to be microwaved/boil in the bag mains, quality comparable to Harvester. Had to send one meal back due to cold food not being put under the grill long enough to heat it! Had one...of the real ales, which tasty yeasty, as if the pipes had not been cleaned. Totally lacking in atmosphere and overpriced.More

Lovely Sunday Roast. Big portions. Crispy roast potatoes and great selection of vegetables. Cauliflower cheese was tasty as was the red cabbage. Good price at £15.95. The service was prompt and friendly. Will be back!
