I have never had such a tasteless Chinese takeaway ever, the look of the takeaway is great but the staff you presume to be Chinese are English and not very knowledgeable to questions about the food. I agree with the last 2 reviews about portion size and the very poor quality of the food (mostly gristle and the prawns were... More

Staying at Dawlish Warren and needed something to eat after checking in. We found this place. It was rammed when we walked in (Friday night) and we were expecting a long wait, we were amazed when our order was ready in probably less than 15min. To add to the amazement it was absolutely delicious, better than any Chinese we have... More

Been eating here for years and the food just gets better each time. Come down for our usual Easter break and used our favourite Chinese, Mei Lai Dawlish. For the speed and quality the price is justified and they have the best black bean sauce!

As a local I use this shop all year round, it gets busy when the tourists arrive and wait times can go up, but in fairness to the staff they cope well with what looks like a pretty tough job (you can see then cooking and rushing around). Friendly staff and nice tasty food. Thanks Mei Lai, see you soon.

Bad food cooked by English kids, prices are extortionate! As a local I have supported them all through the Autumn & Winter and when the tourists start arriving portions go down and prices up! Crispy beef £6.80 with Hardly any beef AND very very chewy, Hot and sour soup was full of gristle and tasteless, what do you expect when... More

We are very disheartened to see such a review here on TripAdvisor. Our prices have remained the same for the past two years (someone who is a regular customer through the Autumn and Winter would know this). Our prices are very fair and take into account the fact that we are VAT registered, use high quality produce, have a huge... More

On the face if it, the recently refurbed Mei Lai looks like it promises to be the best in town; busy, attentive and spotlessly clean but the quality of dishes is a real disappointment. Where they have spent on refurbishment and branding, they should have invested in the quality of their ingredients. The vegetarian dishes are tasteless - you could... More

We have visited this great chinese take away for years, whilst on summer holidays in Dawlish. It's so good to see that it has continued to flourish and continues to deliver great food. On this occasion, the sweet and sour chicken (Cantonese style) was the clear favourite. Great food at reasonable prices.

Brilliant food and service, curry tasted fantastic, never had a Chinese curry this good and food was very fresh and hot. Hard to get this type of Chinese anymore.

Our regular when visiting Devon and still the best. Just seems to get better every time we visit, definitely one to try. Chicken balls are the best.

We have used this takeaway before and have been really impressed, however on our last visit, the takeaway was awful, bland, very tasteless, overcooked meat, sauce was very thick and gooey. Nearly all was binned. Something has gone badly wrong at this place. We won't be back...!
