Stopped off for lunch. A little further away from the front than others but worth the additional walk. Had ham and tomato baguette with crisps and coleslaw. The ham was delicious, a nice thick slice and very tasty. The baguette wasn't too soft but not too hard and crusty as some baguettes can be. Good service, would definitely go again if in the area.

We are regular visitors to Dawlish and have now found Johns ! If you want simple, good food, great value for money in a traditional café environment, Johns is the place to go and we will certainly be back. We both had baguettes for lunch with a portion of chips between us. All food was delicious, made and served fresh using locally sourced food which is important to us. All staff were friendly and welcoming, we have a small dog who was also made to feel welcome. Thank you for a lovely lunch we will be returning and more than happy to recommend.

My family and I called into John's for a hearty breakfast before we headed home after a weeks holiday. We had a warm welcome on entering, which was nice. The menu offer a full range of options, but we opted for the full breakfast, it's great to see a map on the wall that shows the locations of where all their food suppliers are, which is mainly all very close. The food itself tasted great and cooked to order, the service was quick, efficient and very good, nothing was too much trouble and the staff checked a intervals to make sure we had everything we needed. Seating both inside and out dependant on the weather and parking on the street right outside if you're lucky. We'll worth a visit.

Delicious food, great atmosphere, courteous and friendly staff. I loved the local produce board to see where the ingredients are sourced. Manager apologised that food might be a while, it was only 15 minutes and the cafe was packed.

What a fantastic little gem of a place to eat in Dawlish. We first found John's Cafe 2 years ago and head straight for there for our breakfast. The place is so clean and the food is superb. The staff can not do enough for you and so polite and cheerful. Like I said the staff go out their way to help you even makeing breakfast etc that may differ to the menu. I wanted bacon, egg, tinned tomatos and mushrooms on a bap, it was not on the menu but they did it. We have just came back from 7 days holiday at Dawlish, and 7 fantastic breakfasts at Johns. Thank you all, see you all in October.

Great food, lovely staff, clean and fresh setting. In our party: 1 vegetarian, 2 carnivores and 1 fussy teenager, all left very satisfied customers. Will comeback again. Best bacon, brie and cranberry toastie I've had!

Visited this cafe today, it's a lovely hidden cafe, polite staff and service great, only had a coffee but was a good taste and plenty hot enough, a nice ambience as in soft music not as loud as some places, very busy lots of people eating various good hearty breakfasts. I am so pleased on looking around Dawlish that this particular cafe opens at 8 although I got here at 9 most cafes didn't open their doors until 10!! I find this baffling. Thank you for a pleasant experience John's 😁

We really enjoyed our visit to John's. It was busy inside, but we managed to get a table straight away. We visited for lunch and had a cheese and ham panini and chicken strips, chips and beans. Both meals were brought out very quickly, especially when considering how busy it was. We both enjoyed our meals. The staff were very friendly and chatty. We would definitely return if we are in Dawlish again!

At first glance you might think this is a normal 'caff' but it is far from it. The food is lovely and local - if you are veggie, there is lots of choice, if you're vegan too. Meat eaters are more than well catered for too. The staff are great, meals come to you super fast and piping hot - they do all they can to accommodate, such as cooking without butter if you are vegan. They even do prosecco (if it's late enough in the day of course) The coffee is great as well - and dogs are welcome. What a find.

We decided to head into Dawlish to get breakfast before we drove home after our camping trip. We drove down the high street and saw Johns and thought we’d give it a go! We had a lovely veggie breakfast and my children enjoyed their scrambled egg sandwich and mini breakfast. The quality was good and when I said that I didn’t want mushrooms on my breakfast, the lovely waitress asked me what I would like instead. This was a pleasant change as usually when I ask for no mushrooms I have to ask for something else instead! With it being a Monday the government ‘eat out’ discount was applied to our bill. We had four breakfasts, a round of toast and two coffees for about £13. Unbelievably amazing value! I’m sure even without the scheme the value is good too. The cafe and toilets were clean and the staff were lovely and friendly. If we go back to Dawlish we will definitely visit this Johns again!

Sat at an outside table in the sunshine watching the world go by. Staff were friendly and COVID rules compliant. Ordered sandwiches which came quickly and were fresh, very tasty, well presented with plenty of filling. Excellent cup of tea to wash it down. Would definitely recommend.

What an amazing cafe!! Staff are amazing, service is outstanding and the food is just wow! Absolutely adore this place. Been a few times and it never disappoints. All local produce used and the display showing where produce used is from is fantastic. Always come here when we come to dawlish

Food was very good but one member turned up a little later to be told no sausages or bacon left so very disappointing. Of course there were but as we finished eating the boss was stacking chairs and closing up at 2.30 on a Tuesday afternoon. This should have been a very special time for us that was spoilt by the owner

We travel to Dawlish a several times a year to visit family. Breakfast at John's is a real treat and one we look forward to when planning a trip to Dawlish. The ingredients are locally sourced and of good/high quality, service is friendly and efficient. We would not hesitate to recommend a visit to John's. The locally sourced still lemonade called Hollabaloo is as good as freshly made.
