A boat trip to a wonderful floating restaurant is an absolute treat. The fresh fish menu is superb and the staff always friendly. I have been three times and will go again.

A real treat of a lunch on a floating barge. Weather was superb which helped and food was fantastic. River taxi there and back was fun but we felt slightly organised and dictated to because of set timings of travel. Fish and chips were scrumptious and definitely will be back next summer!

An absolute treat! My family and I took the water taxi from Exmouth marina to the restaurant which in itself was a lovely trip. All food and drink is locally sourced and freshly cooked on site. The food was fabulous (I had crab whilst my family all had fish and chips) and the views spectacular. Situated right in the middle... More

I took four of us out for a meal on 6.9.16 for an early birthday treat for my brother and his wife. Before even getting to the cafe,we enjoyed a superb evening twenty minute water taxi ride just getting there. The setting sun was spectacular and started the evening in great style. On arrival there was a lovely bubbly atmosphere and... More

Found this whilst looking for a restaurant with a sea-view and you can't get much better than a restaurant floating in the middle of the river Exe estuary! So we booked and the restaurant also arranged a water taxi for us - so the evening became a nice little adventure for our 3 year-old boy too. The food and service... More

I visited this floating restaurant for a second time and the experience was just as good as the first. Very easy booking experience, very professional staff and wonderful food. Compliments to the Chef. I can't wait to visit again next season. I have even bought my Devon family vouchers for Christmas. Thank you River Exe Staff.

This gastro restaurant is in the middle of the river Ex and you take a ferry across to it. The charge for the ferry is £5 per person but the short trip is well worth it. We were greeted by staff and chose our own table (by the burner). The food was delicious and there was no rush as the... More

The Exe cafe is really unique, being located in the middle of a fantastic estuary, well known for it's wildlife, tranquility and views. In all just a really nice place to go.The water taxi is itself a pleasant journey, where you will see sea birds and maybe a seal or two.The staff are all very professional and friendly. The food... Everything was perfect, from the journey over in the relaxed water taxi to the texture of the creamy head on the macchiato at the end. Chilled but attentive staff, food to die for, but portions that meant you felt you'd eaten. Sensible wine list, great location, what more to ask?

Description
The River Exe Cafe is a floating barge just off the Ski lane on the River Exe, and is in the heart of Exmouth’s water sports fraternity, wakeboarding, waterskiing, kayaking, sailing to name just a few, however it is also situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, protected by Natural England. Open from April to September only . The Exe Estuary is home to many rare birds and creatures including Avocets, Osprey and of course our friendly grey seal. With the potential to take up to 100 people on board the Cafe has been designed very much like the “Ski in Ski out” wooden chalets found on the ski slopes of many ski resorts, but with the intention that the quality of food and service exceeds all expectations of the external look and feel. The barge has a licensed bar and covered outdoor space with heaters and indoor seating to relax well into the evening without suffering the cold. Customers to the barge really are of all ages and walks of life, ranging from the usual river users and water sports enthusiasts to bird watchers, artists and holiday makers. Special events such as birthday parties, anniversaries, stag & hen parties to corporate & team building days can be arranged. Private and exclusive use of the barge is also available.
