My first visit to Capels, for over 2 years. I normally go to Krispies down the road, but I thought, as I was parked across the road, I would go there. Big mistake....my order was taken at 12 28pm, at 12 57pm, I got my take away. The staff serving, seemed more interested, is dealing with the people who where... More

I visited Capels on my way home from work in the evening time. On arrival someone took my order as I walked through the door, only to tell me that they had ran out of Cod, which the staff seemed to find amusing. After waiting 15 minutes for my order they had forgotten to prepare it and served everyone else... More

It is important that fish and chips should be freshly cooked, they always are at Capels. My wife and I take advantage of the pensioners offer which is very good value for money and enjoyable. My monthly visit will, I hope, continue for a long time

Just visiting and place looked very busy. The haddock I had was pink and unappetising, although my wife's was OK. Chips weren't up to much either. Wish we had walked a bit further as there were plenty of other fish and chip restaurants in the town.

The chips were re heated, the saveloys were bland, the burger looked like something from a 1970s burgerwagon outside a football ground..and tasted like it too....and worst of all the Pukka pie was certainly not pukka as it was mouldy!!!! Granted we were near the end of the session - but even so.....

I usually go occasionally to another local fish and chip shop but after a couple of disappointing visit I decided to call into Capels on the spur of the moment my choice was rewarded with an excellent portion of well cooked and presented cod and a huge tray (regular) of well excellent chips. They were so big I shared them... More

Soggy chips, the worst I ever tasted. Full of grease. Had a cod fish and chips for lunch and tried to eat it, stopped half way my meal and had a very unpleasant feeling in my stomach for the rest of the day. My friends had the same. We will never ever go back. They do a promotional deal for... More

Nice fish and chips, only downside chip portion could have been bigger...perhaps they've been reading the reviews about big portions! 😉

My wife and i went into Capels for lunch today. The service was vey good, portions huge and the piece of plaice that I had was excellent. Both meals were piping hot and very very good value. Well done Capels, we will be back in the very near future.
