Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

They have accomodated my strange neurodiverse need for random shots of gin in a slushpuppy, and they chose the gins perfectly. Huge range of drinks, banging pool table and fantastic staff! Will definitely come again, perfect for relaxing with a strange group of people after...a really long, really stressful shift! Loved it!More

Went our for lunch with my husband and daughter, the first meal out since the end of lockdown. Hand sanitiser was provided at the front door, and we felt welcomed and very comfortable. The pub has tastefully been refurbed , with a lovely colour palette....There is a limited menu, but each of us had the pizza, ( it was 12” ). We placed our order by text and did not have to wait long for the food to arrive. The food was lovely. Service was great and in accordance with social distancing guidelinesMore

Blimey, so rude. To put this into perspective i'm not a moaner .. i'm a nice guy. I was TOTALLY ignored (to the point that she even looked over my shoulder to another punter) at the bar even after we had had a drink and...waited patiently for a refill. LOCALS only it seems. Will never visit again, save your money for the Hollytree opposite. It was a very different experience!More

Well what can I say!!!! Never have I entered into a pub and felt so uncomfortable!! All the locals stop and stare, the staff member was short and uninformative , and even stopped half way through serving to chat to his mates, I didn't even...finish my pint!! Service is key my friends!!!!More

We arrived very late on Friday evening after travelling down for a week's holiday. We were told that the kitchen was closed, it was 8.40pm, but then the chef kindly came out to tell us he would reopen the kitchen especially for us. We were...starving so very grateful, the food was great simple pub food . My mum had the roast chicken, brother had Gammon, Egg and chips, sister-in-law had chicken tikka and everyone was happy with their food. I had the mushroom stroganoff which was ok, a little bit bland but for £32.99 for four meals we were more than happy. The willingness to reopen the kitchen really impressed us, a lovely friendly bunch.More

Why do employers let staff have their phones on them when working? Are you all thick ? Staff are employed in pubs on an hourly rate . 60 mins work = usually min. Rate , let's say £8 if they're over 21 . They use...their phone 15 mins out of every hour answering texts etc and so they're employer is paying them £10 for doing 45 mins work . Work out the maths !! This is typical of the appalling way pubs are run today About time it was sorted - ban phones when working ChrisMore

We paid for our meal through Groupon £8.99 for carvery and a pudding for 2 people - a real bargain. We sort of expected a village pub but this was actually part of Exmouth - parking was very difficult. It really is a local with...5 dart boards and 2 pool tables - lots of swearing from the regulars and a strange smell. The staff were all very nice and helpful but we just didn't fancy the carvery - the meat and potatoes were ok but the vegetables were not that great. The puddings were reasonable - all served with ice cream or pouring cream. I suppose you get what you pay for at the end of the day - but although this was a real bargain - it is not a bargain if you don't eat itMore

We visit Exmouth several times a year and always make the mile or so walk to visit this pub. Lovely sun trap of a garden, friendly staff and fantastic food, especially the carvery and the rotisserie chicken. Despite there being so many great eateries in...the area, this is really a hidden gem, don't know how they can be making a profit at the prices they charge.More
