We live 15 miles away from Kingsbridge, nearer to Plymouth but the trip to Kingsbridge is well worth the drive. I’ve eaten in so many different Indian restaurants and this place is as good as any I’ve sampled. I’ve taken a friend who lives in Cambridge, he now gives a recommendation to anyone he knows who is staying in the area. The staff are very friendly and the service is excellent.

What a fabulous place to eat and get a take away. Myself and my family frequently use the Maha for dining in and also takeaway. We are never disappointed. The staff are always friendly and go out of their way to make all feel welcome and have a great night. The food is always delicious, piping hot and arrives in good time. Would highly recommend x

Been meaning to try this for ages and finally got round to it. There are more local Indian Restaurants to us, but it was well worth the drive. Definitely one of the best Indian restaurants I have eaten in. The service was also .excellent. Not cheap, with service dinner for two came to just under £100, but we did pick some of the more expensive dishes and they were well worth it. Highly recommend the Lassoni Jinga Harimirch (King prawn, garlic masala and chilli) and the Bijapuri Murg Kebab as starters. The Remix Chef's Special curry has a good heat to it without being a test of fortitude. The owners are rightfully proud of their family tradition with several generations involved in the business. Definitely going back, only sorry we didn't discover it sooner.

It was our first time trying this restaurant and I had very high hopes after reading the reviews and seeing they had recently won an award. Unfortunately it didn’t meet up to expectations. The food was average, we ordered poppadoms, chutneys, 2 curries, 2 rice and 1 naan and it wasn’t anything other than your average Indian takeaway. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t “award worthy”. The negative part of our evening was how rushed we were. We arrived and were seated, before we even had chance to look at the drinks menu, the waiter was asking us what drinks we wanted and whether we wanted poppadoms. We quickly looked at the drinks menu whilst he was standing over us and made our choice. Poppadoms were fine, slightly stale texture but ok. Annoyingly before we had even finished the poppadoms, the mains had arrived and the waiter removed the chutneys and poppadoms from the table. The mains were served in white bowls that looked like cereal bowls, no heat underneath like our usual Indian restaurant and therefore went lukewarm very quickly. When we had finished they cleared the table and asked us if we wanted the bill. This was our first dinner out childfree in over a year, and we didn’t even get chance to talk in peace before we were being hurried out the door. The restaurant was busy and some larger tables had arrived, so I wonder whether they wanted to get us done and dusted so they could focus on them maybe? All in all we probably wouldn’t come back, we will stick to our local Eastern Eye in Newton Abbot, much more relaxed, food that actually stays hot, lots of little extras that make the visit personal and a much better atmosphere where you can take your time and enjoy your evening.

This has been our go-to local Indian restaurant for the last four years since we moved to Devon. We have had many great meals here and given it suitably appreciative reviews. Sadly this one is different. Our meal last night was poor. Service was slow; we waited over half an hour for some starters. They arrived abruptly alongside our mains so no gentle staged supper to linger over. Had the food been piping hot, this would have been bearable but, unfortunately, it was all lukewarm, the prawns almost cold. The usual deft spicing was absent too. A meat samosa was filled with dry mince and even the usual tasty meat marinades lacked punch. Maybe this was chef’s night off. Eating out has become notably more expensive of late but even so our bill of £80 for two starters, one main and some lager seemed steep. Disappointing.

Pre booked a family 50th birthday meal for 17 people on Easter Saturday . Food was very good and even having to wait for sundries to be served with main meal was slow wasn’t a major issue. My disappointment came when we were told that our table had been doubled booked straight after we had paid and given a substantial tip we then told to leave pretty much immediately even though the majority of us still had drinks left. Customer service needs attention and tell customers when they book that the table needs to be vacated by a specific time.

I'd be inclined to agree with other reviews that quality of food and service is good. No issue there. Its rather overpriced though given main dishes are around £4-5 cheaper back home (Sutton) though guess it does factor in tourism. My gf ordered a vegetarian curry was surprised no rice was included

We had great service from very friendly and observant staff, who served really delicious dishes. We were never hurried along, yet the meal was most efficiently produced and laid before us. First rate and excellent value.

An outstanding family run quality Indian restaurant . It has been serving authentic Indian dishes for over 30 years. We loved the chicken Biryani. The service was excellent and food quality very good. We would definitely visit again when in the area.

This is one of our favourite restaurants! My family and I ate there last Wednesday whilst on holiday in the area. The service is second to none, there is really nothing that is too much trouble. Two of our party are vegan and their is a large selection of options available and the staff were excellent at explaining what they could and couldn't eat and what could be adapted. Everything we had was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced, and along with the excellent service, we highly recommend it. First class!

It's hard to express how good the food / service is here without sounding like a paid agent of the Maha-Bharat. Incredibly nice and respectful staff, and incredible food. If you are reading this review wondering whether you should go, I'll save you the time: You should. It's brilliant.

Best restaurant in the south west? Come away for a family holiday and all had to stop our meals as a spider was in our masala. When phoned the restaurant staff and manager didn’t want to know and said “it would have melted away in the food” and “was it in the chutney” Regardless of where it was in the food it shouldn’t have been there. Nor should it have melted away. It should not have been there. As you can see there’s sauce on the legs. Felt like it was implied we had placed it in the curry. To travel for food and end up with this is absolutely shocking.

The manager in question was indeed myself. You say I didn’t want to know? If I didn’t want to know, why would I give you my personal phone number and my email? And why would I say "was it in the chutney” do you think we top our chutney’s with daddy long legs? Great idea 💡 You said it was inside your chicken tikka masala. Our chicken tikka masala is BRIGHT RED, if that really was inside your food it would’ve been absolutely drenched. And when I said it would’ve melted away, IF there was a spider in your curry, daddy long legs are very delicate, don’t you think it would’ve been absolutely destroyed when cooking with steel pans and steel chefs spoons AND being cooked at boiling point? We also have a 5 star hygiene rating. Our chefs cook the food. Pour the curry/dish into the takeaway tubs and then it's packed. From the restaurant to your dinner table the takeaway tubs moved and wobbled around in your car journey or walk home so I find it impossible for a "daddy long leg sitting on top" like you explained to me. I don’t like to argue with customers, period. Hence why I didn’t get defensive and offered to refund your curry or send you out another one. But instead you took my kindness for weakness saying if you don’t get your full refund of £110 you will be contacting health officers. We don’t like to be bullied at the Mahabharat. Try get a free meal elsewhere.

This has always been one of our favourite places to eat when on holiday in the area. This time, we visited on a busy Wednesday evening. Food was mostly good, and the portions were fairly generous, but we were surprised at how expensive the whole menu was compared with our last visit. Service was friendly, but very slow, and the poppadoms were stale. We enjoyed our visit, but can't justify returning at these prices.

Excellent, attentive service and the best lamb curry ever (Methi); the meat was lean and melt in the mouth. Beautifully cooked and spiced dishes which were recommended by the owner after finding out our preferences regarding heat, spice and flavouring. This was our first visit and won’t be our last.

We were staying nearby on our holiday from Reading. We ordered a takeaway on the Saturday evening and ordering online (on the app or website) was really quick and easy. You’re always encouraged to see a full restaurant (even people waiting for tables) when you arrive to collect your food. The staff were really friendly and the food was stunning. We both had dishes from their speciality range. Cannot recommend this place enough. 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
