My wife and I are omnivores, and our son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter (age four) are vegans. They advertise children's meals being served from 5:30pm, but our granddaughter didn't fancy the vegan food on offer. So we phoned ahead, and they said the could make a pasta in a vegan sauce if that would help. It did. So we booked We arrived at 6pm, and we were greeted by friendly staff. Both the menu and wine list are varied and good; the food was cooked to perfection; and the service was efficient. At no time did we feel rushed - very relaxed atmosphere. What more can I say, except "Thank you".. 5 stars all round.

Visiting from Australia we travelled to North Devon to stay with friends who live in Woolacombe and we went to dinner together at Ms Fea's Bistro at the Smuggler's Rest in Morthoe. The whole experience was excellent. The atmosphere of the restaurant was excellent with strikingly attractive decor. The owner was very welcoming as was the lady taking our order and serving us. The menu had excellent choice and it was a real challenge to decide what to have when all the options were tremendous. The food was served promptly and we all found it absolutely delicious at a very reasonable price for what was high quality dining. An all roiund excellent experience and we can unambiguously recommend Ms Fea's bistro for a fabulous eating experience.

We have been coming here for years and it is consistently excellent and tonight was no exception. The fillet steak was superb as was the delightful Italian red they recommended to us. If you want top notch, fresh, local produce superbly cooked in a relaxed, friendly and unpretentious atmosphere then you will love this place. Keep up the good work Will, Stacey and team, you rock!

Average and overpriced. Though the steak was good quality, it was not served with anything else, priced at £28. Nice ambience on a rainy evening but still far to go to become the restaurant you can tell it is aspiring to be. It left a lot to be desired. I’d highly recommend The Depot Eatery, close by, where my partner stopped for stone baked pizza en route home.

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review, we're especially happy to hear that you enjoyed the ambience, we get that feedback alot. We're sorry to hear that you thought our fillet steak was expensive despite you saying you enjoyed it. we have put the steak on the menu like that so people can choose what side they would like. It brings the cost of the dish to £32 which we think represents great value for money as our steak is ruby red which is a beautiful local breed, its free range and is 8 ounce, i doubt you can find quality like that for less anywhere in north Devon. Also the steak is by far the most expensive meal on our menu, why not choose something else? Our low and slow pulled lamb dish for instance is £10 less. Its a shame the price was such an issue as you could have seen our menu before you booked and decided whether you thought our prices represented good value to you. I would urge you to do that in future, that way you'll find places that more suit what you're looking for, and we'll attract more of our target market which does see value in our offering. Thanks again

We were made very welcome and loved the place and staff, but sadly were a bit disappointed by our dinners. My partner had the tagliatelle which was swimming in oil and my duck was a small leg, rather dry with no sauce and lots of boring lentils. Potatoes were an extra. £70 for just two mains and a modest bottle of wine seemed a bit steep. So a tad disappointing, especially as it’s local to us and we had high hopes after a friend’s recommendation. By the way, it’s now called “Smugglers’ Rest”. We’ll give it another try in a while in the hopes that the food will be a bit tastier.

The starters were great. Main was overcooked, basic pasta which we could have cooked at home. All of us had it. Staff also hit and miss, some great, others couldn’t get the basics (like bringing cutlery) right. Pity as we had gone off the good reviews and were slightly embarrassed, having brought friends.

Nice enough little bistro, but the food wasn't special enough to match the prices. The overall feeling is of a 3* bistro charging and thinking it's a Michelin * restaurant. Far too pricey both for food and drinks and I'm used to dining at quality venues. Shall not be visiting again as there are better local restaurants for any occasion.

Great meal, friendly and efficient service and real attention to detail. We were so glad to be able to get a table at short notice. The food was top notch. Perfectly cooked sea bass with delicious sauce and the 'smores' dessert was excellent too. If you want top quality food at a reasonable price then highly recommend Miss Fea's!

We researched places to eat in the area and the reviews of Miss Fea's hinted that it would be worth a visit. My chef partner is always fairly particular where he eats but this place was lovely. The owners care about what they are serving and the suppliers are local. Cannot recommend enough.

This was booked for our last night in Devon. A little bit special, we felt privileged to have got a table as many without a booking were turned away. I had fish of the day which was monkfish and came with roasted cauliflower and gnocchi and spiced up with some chorizo - reasonably priced at just over £20. My friend's lamb was equally delicious, and was followed up by two desserts - chocolate terrine and a cheesecake. Service is calm, efficient and friendly, and the vibe here is great.

Superb food, fine dining standard. Small menu, but everything is fresh and delicious. We had a seafood linguini, fillet steaks and a Irish lamb stew, all excellent. Food ranges from £18-£30- some portions are on the small side and require sides. Attentive service, kept checking we were ok and happy with everything. Will definitely come again!

Food cooked to perfection. The steak was very tender and flavoursome, the peppercorn sauce was delicious. The deserts were amazing (I could have eaten more, but I’m greedy!!) Helpful, polite waitress Will definitely return again

Whilst the service and starters were good, the main courses of Hake and Lamb were extremely poor. In fact, this was probably the worst dish of lamb I have ever been served. It was dry and cold and sitting on a bed of feta cheese which did nothing to help. The hake was poached instead of roasted and swimming in tasteless water. Our bill for two came to just over £100, acceptable if the food is good, but this fell well short of the mark.

I had read some great reviews and the food looks great from the photos online so was looking forward to visiting. Coffee and cake were great; in fact the cake was delicious. Sadly, even though I had requested the bill, two members of staff proceeded to deal with a walk-in who wanted to book in advance. The whole conversation was laid out for all other guests as the two staff pandered to a lady whilst we sat waiting to pay. Having asked about availability for a dinner reservation, when one member of staff came with our bill, we were advised that the only day was Friday. We then sat for approximately 10 minutes whilst the other man looked at the diary, counted the tables, looked at the diary, tapped his pen, advised that they already have a few bookings for just 2, looked at the diary and then advised that they didn't actually have availability but we could go on a waiting list. The whole experience was uncomfortable and the staff presented as precocious. I appreciate that the number of covers has reduced due to Covid-19 but I felt positively unwelcome in the end and should have perhaps 'flirted' in the manner of the other lady who secured a large booking seconds earlier...

Hi Faith Thanks for leaving a review i'm stoked you like the cakes and the coffee! I'm sorry you had to wait while i attended to another guest but i really do try and provide a good service to every customer. The lady in question was booking a table for a few weeks time, i had space and so i was able to complete the reservation. I'm sorry you had to wait whilst i did this, but during peak season we are often busy and sometimes short waits should be expected. I must admit to being a bit confused about your main gripe with your experience in my cafe.... was it purely the fact i spent alot of time making sure i couldnt fit you in on your chosen date? Surely putting in effort to give you what you asked for is a good thing? or was it because the lady before you booking 9 days in advance got a table but you didnt? We accept reservations on a first come first serve basis the more notice you give the better your chances. I am certain that if i only awarded tables to people who flirted with me that my business would be bust in no time :)

Yet again we were served an incredible meal with superb service. The mussels were fresh, local and cooked to perfection. The roast beef was utterly delicious. We’re just sad that we can’t have a second meal here this week as they are closed for the winter. Miss Fea’s is one of our favourite places to eat, the food is always exceptional as well as being locally sourced, and Will and the team, know how to make you feel so welcome.
