Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Delightful little tea rooms serving freshly made sandwiches and afternoon tea to order. Friendly welcoming staff. Pretty courtyard area to rear. Well worth a stop. We had a cheese and ham toastie and a tuna mayo sandwich, both were accompanied by crisps, salad and coleslaw,...very tasty. We enjoyed so much we stayed for more tea and a slice of Victoria Sponge.More

We “sandwiched “ our visit to “The Old Schoolhouse Tea Room” between the two major attractions, the swans and the gardens. Although both those have their own eating options, for us spending some time wandering around the beautiful village of Abbotsbury and enjoying an Afternoon...Tea at this establishment was a lovely interlude, instead of just driving from one to the other. As a treat we opted for the Afternoon Tea and could choose between savoury and sweet scones. We ordered one of each and shared! The food was well presented, prepared fresh and very tasty. Lots of nice options on the menu too for a slightly less indulgent experience. The couple who own and run the Tea Rooms were absolutely charming! Spending time chatting, it was fascinating to hear their story and they found time to listen to ours. It felt like we were old friends after chatting for just ten minutes or so! The weather was glorious and the outside seating area was a lovely setting to enjoy our Tea. The wisteria was at its best. We would definitely recommend a stop off here, if like us you are doing the two attractions on the discount ticket. It added to an absolutely perfect day out in Dorset!More

It was a pleasure being served sandwiches which tasted as well as they looked. Crisp salad of leaves, tomato and cucumber in a tasty dressing, were accompanied by potato crisps and homemade coleslaw.

On a rather wet day, we stopped in Abbotsbury looking for a cosy lunch spot. The dining room was quiet, but we were warmly welcomed on arrival and soon had delicious bowls of homemade spicy carrot and coriander soup to warm us up. The menu...had several light lunch and afternoon tea options and there were lots of tasty looking cakes and scones on covered stands, but the soup and bread were quite filling so we didn’t try them. A lovely lunch. The only thing to flag is that the loos are public ones next door, entailing a walk outside in the rain.More

Visited Abbotsbury for the day and wanted some tea and a snack. Wandered in here and was greeted by a very friendly man (didn’t catch his name). Lovely, homely feel in the tearoom. Very attentive staff and took our order quickly but didn’t rush us,...ordered cream tea for 2 and it came quickly, was presented in pretty china and tasted great! Some bonuses are it was great value for money and it’s dog friendly so there were some cute dogs in there to fawn over!More

It was an all round fantastic experience, we had a round of beautifully presented sandwiches and a pot of tea. We followed up with sharing a piece of ginger and rhubarb cake, my wife and I were overheard discussing clotted cream or custard. When the...cake was delivered to the table we were presented with a jug of custard a portion of clotted cream so we were both extremely pleased. That is service for you. You could not want for a better food or service the owners are incredibly lovely people, a man and wife team.More

Never disapoints. Been visiting here for last 6/7 yrs & was as good as ever this last holiday, so good we went twice. If I lived locally I would be a regular customer. Quality, presentation & service 10/10. Nice touches with delicious coleslaw & little...shortbread biscuits with your drink add those finishing touches. I have today made those little shortbread biscuits from a recipe in a book purchased from the tea shop, and I'll be making them again. Lovely of them to share the recipe of what they provide so you can recreate a little of your experience when you get home. Can't wait for my next visit. Highly recommend visiting this gem of a tea shop.More

A great find! We were able to park almost outside, and with other options in the village, we were so pleased that we chose here for our lunch stop. The owners are a welcoming couple, clearly invested in their business,. with self prepared recipes and...cakes etc. The soup was delicious, and having tea in a pot with bone china cups is a rare treat these days: the toasted sandwiches served with salad are exceptionally tasty. Information guides, walking routes and other books for browsing are available, and the whole atmosphere was pleasurable. We hope to be back in November!!More

After a circular 6 mile walk from Abbotsbury down to Chisil Beach, we called in and enjoyed a delicious afternoon cream tea. Two homemade scones with jam and cream, all washed down with a generous pot of tea. Just perfect. The owners were so friendly.

Called in for tea in the afternoon - a good range of drinks and yummy homemade cakes, etc. We had Dorset apple cake, a local recipe, which was delicious. The fascination came with the information about the old school house that the cafe was housed...in and a host who went out of his way to be hospitable and informative. Highly recommended.More

Popped in for a light lunch. Nice olde world charm yet still minimalist. Efficient, friendly service and food presented with TLC. We had the soup of the day(pea, courgette and mint) with granary bread and a tuna and tomato toasted sandwich with fresh salad and...slaw. Very impressed. Had a pretty garden too. Will return!More
