This is a bar restaurent, with not many tables, heated by a roaring stove. No starters, but a good blackboard menu for mains and puddings. I could not have my first choice as the sauce contained onion, so, as usual, I had to compromise.

My wooden spoon award for the first pub I have found in Dorset, which is not dog friendly (apparently because of the cats) But attractive garden in good weather. Drinks eye wateringly expensive.

Would never ever set foot in the pub again! Horrible atmosphere, dead as a door nail. 4 meals were ordered 2 were lamb and they were inedible and was asked to be taken back to the kitchen!! I would not recommend this to anyone! Such a bad bad bad evening! £65 for inedable and smelly food! Terrible sevice. Get your... More

Uncomfortable experience as staff was not at all friendly, especially when we tried asking directions for Sydmonsbury. Got told by the female staff to "find the car park there"! It felt like we were not welcomed at all. Two of us ordered Sunday lunch as we were starving - vegetable tasted bland and the two roast beef dishes were incredibly... More

We had a tasty Sunday lunch- all of us had roast lamb which was served alongside plenty of vegetables. The roast potatoes were extremely good. When combined with a pudding this set menu affords excellent value.

A friend and I decided to try out the Senior Citizen's 2 course meal with tea/coffee at lunch time on a cold winter's day.Arrived to find a roaring log fire in the wood burner. Good choice of mains, my friend had the local sausages with mash and gravy with cabbage, arrived piping hot. As a vegetarian I am usually offered... More

My dad and I come here regularly for Sunday roast. Dad likes the roast potatoes here - always good and crisp and roasty like they should be. You get what it says on the tin - good value home cooked roasts served in a friendly spirit in a good British pub. Glad that not all pubs are done up to... More

The pub premises itself has great potential - lovely old building and perfect village spot amidst rolling hills. It should be the lively hub of the local community but it has been sadly neglected of late. Our most recent visit confirmed to us that we won't be going back again under current ownership. The decor is tired and dusty, there... More

Having booked a table for 19.15 we entered the Pymore to what can only be described as " a sad pub " it is very much in need of an update and cleaning as we had a very strong smell of stale cooking fat . The landlord took our order for drinks and we viewed the evening choice of meals... More

Went into this pub last week while on holiday in Dorset, it was our best meal of the week, the owners were very kind and obliging our 5 year old loved it in there, and they even made my son a burger that wasn't on the menu, beautiful presentation of the food and tasted even better. so pleased we stopped...
