Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not having visited the Crown for quite some time, we were eagerly anticipating their acclaimed Sunday Lunch. We certainly weren’t disappointed; it was every bit as good as we remembered. The roast pork with crackling was exceptional with masses of veg and gravy. My wife’s...Lamb was equally delicious and with ginger sponge and custard for pudding, we could hardly move! Fantastic food and lovely staff, it just can’t be beaten.More

Booked Sunday lunch here as a couple for our wedding anniversary. The owner could not have been more accommodating with our requirements. The place is a small country pub. We were warmly welcomed. The food was tailored to our requirements exactly. We both said this...was the best roast we have ever had (apart from my wife's, of course). Go visit!More

We went for Sunday Lunch with friends, superb food, very well kept beer, real friendly pub, staff were spot on. We had two roast beef, one roast pork and a lamb dinner, one member of our party opted for a small plate which was a...great choice for her as portions are generous. Everything was cooked to perfection, I loved the celeriac and parsnip mash. We all opted for old fashioned sherry trifle for dessert, wonderful! The Crown must get through a lot of sherry!! A great English country pub. Having paid our bill i thought for quality of food, service and setting it was great value. Next time we visit our friends we will be back.More

We visited on 10/09/23 with our Labrador Reg who can smell a good roast dinner when there’s one about! This roast dinner was by far the best we have had and we have eaten many on our travels. We tried the lamb and the pork,...both melt in your mouth accompanied with a wonderful assortment of fresh vegetables, extra gravy, apple sauce and mint sauce all provided, absolutely fantastic! David and Karin and their staff were friendly and welcoming, attentive but not overly. The pub is small with many attractive furnishings, the customers following us in seemed to be known to the landlords and staff so made it an extremely friendly atmosphere. We will certainly visit again and need to pay for a navy rum which was missed off our bill. Thank you again for a gorgeous lunch, not sure the review does it justice!More

Visited whilst in Loders visiting my parents. The menu is different each day and booking is a must. The food was very nice, I had the lamb and mint pie which had loads of meat and the mint taste was subtle which was ideal. Lovely...food and would definitely give back!More

Went with 5 friends for dinner who were staying with me from Manchester, have to admit not my first visit being local. The food is all freshly cooked and is divine made with high quality locally sourced ingredients. Menu offers a good choice for different...tastes and large portions. The homemade pie of the day is fabulous. Dave runs the bar and is there to welcome everyone whether just for a drink or dining. Karin is in the kitchen and local friendly staff ensuring diners are looked after. My friends from the Manchester area really impressed that it's not the usual mass produced cuisine. The Crown focusing on less covers, but to a personal and high standard. Hence it is essential to ring ahead and book to avoid disappointment as it is a disappointment to miss this gem in Rural West Dorset.More

Another delicious meal (homemade pie & fish bake) & great range of wine & beer, (& the best cider!) - we are local but have no need to go further afield than The Crown Inn for the best pub meal, (booking ahead is necessary!) Thank...you - Karin, David & Debbie et al for being so welcoming to locals & visitors alike - we are so grateful to have such a lovely pub nearby.More

This is the most perfect village pub we've ever been to. Everything about it - the service, food, drink and amazing team who work here really is exceptional. As soon as you walk through the door, you immediately relax, and to create such a warm...and welcoming place is really quite rare and unique! Anything less than 5 stars on here clearly do not appreciate the hard work, effort and exceptional food/service/atmosphere that this incredible village pub offers. A true gem.More
