Great welcome, lovely food and a beautiful pub. We were made very welcome by a very friendly landlord. We were seated in a very pretty bar area, with our dog. The menu is pub food, nothing pretentious but there is plenty to choose from. The...service was excellent and our food arrived quickly. It was all delicious. This pub has a really lovely feel to it, the owners have made such an effort to make it nice for their visitors. We will definitely return.More

Was visiting the Bridport area and booked a table at The Crown for Sunday lunch, based on the TripAdvisor reviews. What a jewel it turned out to be ! Lovely genuine welcome, and the Sunday Lunch was simply magnificent. Good choice, and a massive selection...of vegetables, including some imaginative options. An additional jug of gravy was delivered with the meals, which is always a good sign. The roast was fabulous, with a great choice of home made desserts. The staff were wonderful, clearly taking pride in everything they do and serve. The Crown is excellent, and we shall definitely return. Thank you !More

I very rarely write reviews but this place is special. Stumblied on this quintessetial country pub whilst looking for a home in the area. Great dinner from the extensive and interesting menu. We had the pork fillet in brandy sauce and the lamb hot pot....Both were generous portions, tasty and well cooked. Congratulation to Karin the chef and to David who keeps a fine cellar. The IPA was the best pint that I have had for a long time. All the staff were very friendly and welcomimg. We went in the quiet time after the New Year but were lucky to get a table so booking is recommended. Highly recommended and we will certainly be back.More

Not having visited the Crown for quite some time, we were eagerly anticipating their acclaimed Sunday Lunch. We certainly weren’t disappointed; it was every bit as good as we remembered. The roast pork with crackling was exceptional with masses of veg and gravy. My wife’s...Lamb was equally delicious and with ginger sponge and custard for pudding, we could hardly move! Fantastic food and lovely staff, it just can’t be beaten.More

Booked Sunday lunch here as a couple for our wedding anniversary. The owner could not have been more accommodating with our requirements. The place is a small country pub. We were warmly welcomed. The food was tailored to our requirements exactly. We both said this...was the best roast we have ever had (apart from my wife's, of course). Go visit!More

We went for Sunday Lunch with friends, superb food, very well kept beer, real friendly pub, staff were spot on. We had two roast beef, one roast pork and a lamb dinner, one member of our party opted for a small plate which was a...great choice for her as portions are generous. Everything was cooked to perfection, I loved the celeriac and parsnip mash. We all opted for old fashioned sherry trifle for dessert, wonderful! The Crown must get through a lot of sherry!! A great English country pub. Having paid our bill i thought for quality of food, service and setting it was great value. Next time we visit our friends we will be back.More

We visited on 10/09/23 with our Labrador Reg who can smell a good roast dinner when there’s one about! This roast dinner was by far the best we have had and we have eaten many on our travels. We tried the lamb and the pork,...both melt in your mouth accompanied with a wonderful assortment of fresh vegetables, extra gravy, apple sauce and mint sauce all provided, absolutely fantastic! David and Karin and their staff were friendly and welcoming, attentive but not overly. The pub is small with many attractive furnishings, the customers following us in seemed to be known to the landlords and staff so made it an extremely friendly atmosphere. We will certainly visit again and need to pay for a navy rum which was missed off our bill. Thank you again for a gorgeous lunch, not sure the review does it justice!More
