We decided to order a takeaway from the Sudorban after reading all the positive discussions online from Facebook. All I can say is I was not disappointed. It was delivered so FAST, food was very hot and fresh and the flavours of the spices was just outstanding! I’ve travelled to India before and this is one the places that reminds of the Indian flavours I tried and the whole family loved the food too! I had the garlic naan with a South Indian garlic chilli curry and it was the best curry I’ve had in Bridport yet. So glad I tried this place, will be ordering only from here if they keep up the good work! Well done Sundorban team:)

As fans of the Indian takeaway, we have long been disappointed in the standard of Indian food in this area. However, we have now had 2 takeaway meals from Sundorbon in the last few weeks and the quality has been excellent. Probably the best onion bhajis I've ever tasted. It is easy to order online and the food is delivered contact-free and on time - you can choose your time of delivery. Excellent service, good value, fantastic food. We are very happy.......

We had eaten at the Sundorbon prior to the pandemic, and during lockdown availed ourselves of their excellent delivery service, but at last we have been able to return to eating in house. And what a lovely meal it was too. The restaurant was buzzing as it is part of the EOHO scheme and every table was booked. The staff were friendly, attentive and very capable. The setting was well organised (take away orders were dispensed from the front door to allow for social distancing) and we will certainly be returning.

Ok so ordered a meal for dads birthday, ordered from Shannon , who said she had been self isolating ?? and was new . Anyway took the order for me and the parents. Bill was over what we had worked out. Shannon said she made a mistake and would ask the manager to refund the extra Meal they had cahrged ok so all ok meal arrived although cold. Not that worried have microwave. Month after get on bank statement full price charged. So phoned them. Apparently Shannon was self isolating and didn't work when the order was put in. ? Even though she gave her name as shannon. Would like a refund please for the over charge you gave me, that you said you would give on the initial payment. Ok so I have been passed about trying to resolve this only to get lies and abuse , when asking for the managers name and when I will be refunded . They even tried to turn it around to say I am blocking the phone line and was abusive by just asking for the manager to state his name. Will be taking further action against ripping off people and ruining a birthday meal.

Ordered food early for delivery in the day so we had it for 6pm. Nearly over 45 minutes later still nothing. Food arrived but was freezing cold we had to microwave the food and the rice was over cooked and inedible! There was a main meal missing also!. When I rang straight away and explained the situation they said they couldn't deliver the main course that they had missed out!. They explained that the manager will call me in the evening to give me a refund. After contacting them over and over again it was just lies on the phone and saying that we would have the refund ASAP! Weeks later the money is still not in the account!
This certainly ruined a birthday meal!
I certainly won't be ordering from this restaurant again.
This review might cost you more then the refund!

I eat In indian restaurants every week with a family of 4 so have a good recognition of really good and really bad places to to eat! This is in my experience the worst..as soon as we we handed used menu’s that had food stains over them thought here we go. COVID RULES Asked for clean menu and was given 1 to share, our returned dirty menus were out on bar and given our to new customers entering the place.. asked for some poppadoms and relish chutney etc only to be given 3 tiny little metal cups of mango chopped onion and some sort of yogurt dip which was hardly enough for 2 poppadoms let alone 6, asked for some extra which was happily provided, my wife ordered vegetarian curry which was very disappointing as all veg was clearly cooked from frozen., my Chicken vindaloo was the worst i have ever served and was so hot it burnt my lips and tongue, a good vindaloo is hot but not on ur mouth and lips ! Was inedible, chicken was clearly boiled and added to dish.. so disappointed as trip advisor seem to point as recommended but can only assume stars may have been created locally! Staff are mainly local dorset girls and not ur usual Indian staff which i would expect and enjoy as part of the whole experience. For me a defo no no for true indian lovers! Place also felt dirty with guys smoking out the back as you enter the single male toilet.. i do not recommend and i will not be going back..

We last came to the Sundorbon 18 months ago and the meal and service was disgusting, we said we would never go again. After reading the reviews we decided to give it another go…. What a transformation the meal was amazing the staff outstanding and the restaurant totally transformed. Fantastic meal and lovely to come back. We will definitely be back. Will recommend it to everyone.

The decor is loveky the girls running the show were polite until the bill came. 4 adults and one child and the first bill presented was £223.30. Ok so we had 4 starters and 2 drinks each but this seamed far to much. I never fine tooth combe bills but I needed to as it didn't seam right. There were numerous errors. 3 extra large kingfisher drinks added at £5.90 each and extra vodka and dash of coke at £10 (the dash is charged at £2.50!) The charge per head for one Popadom and use of the shared raita and chutney and onions is £1.90 which would be ok but there must have been two desert spoons of each sitting measerly at the bottom of each ramakin for 5 of us to share and the raita was watery and flavourless. Ok so we were charged at 10 people per head not 5 and twice!! At this point I would like to say that the curry's were good a though the small chapati charged at £2.85 was stiff and cold and my starter of aubergine fries were very underwhelming and soggy. Upon seeing all the errors on the bill I needed to politely and discreetly inform a member of staff. They showed me the ipad and said it is correct on there so the bill is correct. I needed to get a pen and mark on the bill the extras added and convince them to systematically go through the ipad order and voila the errors were on there but it took a bit of effort for the staff to do and at this point I felt like 'I' was being a nucience. 3 bills later I finally received the correct bill which was £186.10. (£37.02) difference. At no point did anyone in a position of management or a senior member of staff or anyone offer any apologies. It felt like I was in the wrong and they were doing me a favour. All very strange and really put a damper on the evening. Would I return?. Probably not would I reccomend. Possibly but would say be very vary of your bill.

I had family visiting and we would be a party of 5, one of whom would be a 3 and 1/2 year old (the half is important to him!) 'little person' and so decided eating at home was better than taking the 'little person' to a restaurant where he might get tired and fractious and spoil the evening for other diners. So we ordered a 'delivered' take-away of 4 main meals (all different), 4 Onion Bhaji, poppadoms and Naan breads. Delivery was timed for 6:40pm.
The delivery was made at 6:35pm and was absolutely delicious. The 'little person' loved the 'big crisps' and Naan bread and even tried one of the milder saucers. His smile says the next generation of customers is assured.

We ordered a take away (for 5 people) on a Tuesday and got told that it would be 45mins. A bit long for a Tuesday but hey-ho. We eventually got the order after an hour an a half! Given that we went to the restaurant to order/collect, it was curious that the bill had a line item of "delivery" of 50p.
The food itself was very tasty, no complaints there.

Hi there, we can't locate your order on Tuesday, please contact us directly so we can look into this for you. We were extremely busy on Tuesday, however, only 2 collections were slightly late. Normally customers can collect a takeaway within 20-30 minutes. If you were told 45 minutes, then it must have been a combination of large order size and an extremely busy restaurant. We had a full restaurant on Tuesday. We cook every single item freshly made to order, and therefore, aim to provide realistic cook times. We are glad that you enjoyed the food. Every single table left very satisfied that night, and our cooking was enjoyed by many.
If you order online, there is a default 50p service charge to cover transactional fees and other processing fees. On the receipt this shows as 50p delivery charge, we will look into fixing this to make it clearer. Thank you for the feedback.

Ordered take out by App which worked a treat. The 2 of us shared Fried Aubergine (starter), Chicken Biryani, Lamb Tikka Madras, Tara Dahl, Pilau Rice & Nan Bread. The App said the order would be ready at 18:40 and that’s when it was ready. I enjoyed talking to one of the 2 brothers who has taken over the business from their Dad and it’s great to see a young guy building a business. The food was delicious - I like to think I have some understanding having lived in the Birmingham Curry Triangle and worked in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan & Sri Lanka. The best of the dishes were the Aubergine Starter, Chicken Biryani & Dahl. One minor criticism was the Lamb in the Madras which was slightly too tough. Other than that we can’t wait to visit with friends for a sit down meal. If the Sundorbon keeps up the good work, builds it’s reputation it could have a promising future.

Came having seen vegan options and gluten free options from previous reviews. I phoned the day prior to check what vegan options were available and was told some items were vegan, however this information conflicted with what the menu stated. When we got there service was slow and it took ages to order and to be given drinks. We eventually ordered after re checking and explaining what vegan was to certify what was suitable and ordered - we were told that something despite saying on the menu that it was dipped in egg was vegan so I avoided starters! The starters that the rest of the party ordered took 50 minutes to arrive as well. Popadoms were nice tasting and vegan friendly but not gluten free. For mains I ordered a tarka dhal and asked for it to be made definitely vegan which was tasty and I had it with an aloo gobi (really average) with a chapati. We waited so long for some of the food to come out though and asked for the bill three times before it finally came despite it not being busy at all. The food was a 4/5 but service and confidence in what we were being given for allergies and dietary requirements really let it down. Also, it would be good for the manager to check the menu as it says a paneer (cheese) curry is vegan??

I recently ordered a lunchtime takeaway from The Sundorbon off of their new lunchtime menu! I ordered the Bombay feast with a Kachumba salad and spicy chips and I have to say it was absolutely delicious. From placing my order on Uber Eats to receiving it at my door it only took 20 mins! What a fantastic service.
The driver was smartly dressed and very polite and had no trouble finding my house - when most other delivery services fail at this! The improvement of being on the app/apps is making a difference as you are able to pin your exact location - a big plus.
I regularly eat takeaways and have to say Im looking forward to dining in at The Sundorbon to try out the restaurant when it reopens next month.

So I have eaten from here before on a few occasions now as I can't seem to find a better Indian.
I booked a table back last year in the help out to eat out and yes it was busy but the staff were faultless in trying to please everyone, the wait was little more than expected however the food came out piping hot and tasted amazing. Staff were extremely polite and very helpful the restaurant itself was very clean and everything was being sanitised to high standards. As I didn't want to miss out on the delicious food I have ordered many times for a takeaway and The Sundorbon have never failed to deliver hot tasty food. I used to call to place my order with polite cheerful staff always answering however was introduced to their app which is great I have filled my loyalty card a few times now ☺. Placing my order is so easy and the delivery drivers some regular who I now know by their first names are beyond excellent. Always happy and polite while they deliver the most amazing Indian I've found local and I've tried them all! Food is always hot and delicious a credit to the chefs. I believe they have recently changed the menu and yep again cannot fault it. If you are looking for a nice relaxing atmosphere with service second yo none and amazing food then the only place to go is The Sundorbon they even have their own delivery car which is awesome. Keep up the good work and I look forward to when you reopen to put some names to faces. Thank you x

We have been using Sundorbon now for sometime for family takeaways and every time I’m so impressed. The food is honestly delicious! Portions are generous, meat is always succulent, delivery has always been super prompt and drivers polite and friendly. Communication is always great, the website is clear the staff are brilliant.
I recommend you to anyone that asks for takeaway!
