Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Having read previous good reviews we thought we'd drop in one evening to check it out and were frankly disappointed. We'd expected a village pub to serve a local beer but when we asked we were quite rudely informed that the most local they had...was from cornwall. Very disappointing that a pub in what is a fairly major tourist area doesn't support any of the number of local breweries. After failing on beer we decided not to eat there but the food that we saw didn't seem particularly specialMore

This pub is a short stroll away from the centre of Corfe but well worth a visit. The food took a little time to arrive but you could tell from the quality that this was because it had been freshly prepared. Everyone in our party,...including 3 young children, really enjoyed their meal. A nice pub with friendly staff.More

Oh dear! After leaving many good reviews in the past, I'm afraid we just had the most disappointing experience at the castle. We booked for fish Friday for my birthday. We were booked for 7.30 by which time there was only 2 choices of fish...dishes left! To be fair, I had seafood stir fry and salmon which seemed ok, but my husband had steak pie, which was plonked in front of him with an obviously raw pastry top and cold veg!! The barmaid was very polite and apologetic but sadly we paid for our wine and left. We have enjoyed so many good meals here in the past, reviewing this makes me sad!!More

Friendly, engaging but not intrusive staff. Great food. Will come again and happy to recommend. Their fish specials were lovely - not surprised they sold out quickly!! You won't be disappointed... 👍

Quaint little but busy pub on the outskirts of the village. We were made very welcome by the lady at the bar and there was a nice atmosphere. Food was good and reasonably priced, although husband thought the curry a tad too mild. Good service...- even though the lady at the bar seemed to be on her own serving drinks, taking orders, serving food and clearing up! Well worth a visit.More

After visiting Corfe Castle, as we had actually never been up inside the castle before, and had visited the Castle Inn a few years back, we decided to try it again for lunch. We were not disappointed. The landlady was most welcoming when we arrived...and found us a table as we were earlier than the next booking. A quick glance through the menu and we decided on beef stroganoff and steak and ale pie. Well what can I say both meals were absolutely awesome. I had the pie and the steak was really tender and you could actually taste the ale it was the best I have tasted. Likewise the stroganoff was plentiful and really tasty. Again the Castle did not disappoint. 5 star for service, food, cleanliness and atmosphere. Only drawback it's 22 miles from Weymouth but wish it was closer. Carry on the good work.More

We had been working in Swanage all day and when we packed up our kit we were tired and hungry. I had seen The Castle Inn on the way through earlier in the day - it served food, but would they still serve food at...8.30 in the evening? They did! The cook was ready to leave the Inn when we arrived, but he stayed on to cook us the best steak and Ale pie we ever tasted! The guy behind the bar was friendly and welcoming and the food was fantastic. I would recommend this pub to any traveller who needs a hearty meal at the end of a busy day. Thank you to all the staff who made our day.More

Went for dinner one night and ended up going back twice more. There were other eateries in the village but if it ain't broke, why fix it. The welcome was warm and friendly. The log fire inviting and the food great. I've never seen such...a flakey crust atop a beef and ale pie in my life. And the pie was chock full of good tender beer. Amazing placeMore

This pub works to consistently provide a wonderful service to all. Innovative for locals during the "quiet" times and thoughtful ideas during family friendly times. We cannot praise this pub more for working hard ALL the year round. They also provide v v good food...and friendly service.More

This was my first visit to the Castle Inn despite just living a few miles down the road. We were 8 friends there for the Sunday roast lunch. The food was excellent, especially the meat which really was delicious. It came with Yorkshire pudding, roast...potatoes, roast parsnips, swede, cabbage, peas, broccoli, and a very tasty gravy. All the food was piping hot. The staff were friendly and efficient, the welcome was warm. A couple of our group had other dishes on the menu which were also excellent. Highly recommend!More

One of the few pubs we found open for a meal on a Sunday evening. The pub is very attractively laid out and the staff were very friendly. Our meal coincided with a 40% off deal so was exceptional value. The was a good choice...on the menu and all of our meals were well cooked and delicious. We will go back again when we are in the area. Recommended.More
