We have had a few meals here, but last night was the worst we have ever experienced, we ordered 2 roast beef and a chicken burger. The roast looked impressive when it arrived but the Yorkshire pudding was like powder and very burnt, the veg...was so hard when I put my fork into the carrot it flew across the table and the beef was inedible, beyond chewy, full of gristle. The potatoes tasted like they were days old and not remotely Crispy. For the first time ever I took the meal back and refused to pay for the roastsMore
Have stopped on way home for many years for a pint, tonight saw the Wednesday offer, fish and chips…don’t normally eat that early but.. pleased I did after a quiet day, . no great wait, pleasant service and when came perfectly cooked and good sized...portion..,More
Starter took ages and when did come was the wrong order . No one cleared tables . Waited hour and half for mains and when arrived the food was awful and we lost Our appetites. Very expensive meal that we didn’t eat , only had...the starters. Very poor experience . Wouldn’t go back .More

Best Capachinno Coffee I've had in ages. Went back for more after sailing. Good views out over Weymouth bay.
While on holiday in Portland we visited this place for a casual drink. It is very popular and lots of people there. We had our dog with us as did many others as the place is dog friendly. Visited a few times for drinks however...we are going to eat there tonight.More
Our dive club has eaten at TBTR a number of times and love the large portions and good quality food. Because we never know the exact time we will come in from diving we always book a table but caveat that we may be earlier/later....On this occasion we were two hours early and when we docked and I went in to see if our booking could be brought forward I was fully expecting to be told no. This was not the case at all, the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and our group all sat together about an hour and a half early. The staff looking after our table were superb and I have read previous comments about the staff being young and surly. Well they are young and good on them for going out and getting a job, but they certainly were not rude or surly, the complete opposite in fact. The food came out quickly and there was lots of it, just what we wanted after a long day of diving.More
The food wasn't bad here, bit pricey. It was quite noisy as well as one of the members of staff had a visit from him missis with their baby who screamed the whole time we were in there. Lovely views
It was so good that we went there for two consecutive evenings. They were very busy, but fitted us in even when we didn't have a booking the first night. Good value for money. The mussel was very good. Lots of restaurant were having difficulty...finding and retaining kitchen staff, they did well.More
Well what can i say we had a lovely meal ,good value ,friendly staff ,beautiful place right by the harbour.Only found this lovely place by reading the reviews out of our accommodation guest book .So if your visiting Portland pay a visit it s well...worth it .More
Ate there on 13th August after unloading my boat on a visitors mooring in the marina. Food took over 1 hour to arrive. Half the menu was unavailable. Food was overpriced and bland. Ended up taking more than the 2 hours of free parking so...have now received a £100 parking fine from the marina for the pleasure. Avoid like the plague.More
Sorry but just terrible - only a few cakes and so switched to ice cream Staff didn’t seem to know what they were doing and the service was sooooo. sloooow with people at the front of the queue giving up. Ice cream without a cone...seemed really difficult for the staff to cope with (we had a celiac so we decided that none of us would eat the cone) So much fuss about what outside table number we were which we didn’t know and it seemed to stop the whole process. It’s a wonderful location just needs to get its act together!More
I wish we’d gone to the chip shop. Our food was adequate, the scampi and chips was fine, the monkfish and the linguine were in the same thin broth with too many ingredients. The food took 45 mins to arrive, the waitresses were mostly surly...and unhelpful (ours was pleasant). It’s clearly lacking in leadership / management and staffed by young people who don’t care about customer service. Book ahead and go to the Cove House Inn where the food and service are both great!More
