Dire customer service, disinterested unwelcoming staff. A pint ordered appeared forgotten but paid for, so we enquired with another server as ours had walked away and now serving elsewhere, only then upon enquiringly we we told one pump was a little lively so it was being poured elsewhere. How about keeping the customer informed? There was just the two of... More

I had the liver and bacon with mash. The liver was dry and over cooked and the mash was lumpy. My partner had teh gammon which was also very dry. This was the 2nd visit after not being impressed the first time but the pub was busy then and we put it down to that

A lovely old pub with a great atmosphere. We were visiting the area and booked a table on a Friday evening for 9 people. The portions were large, much bigger than our local pubs. I ordered Seabass and it arrived with 2 pieces on a large bed of crushed potatoes. Others ordered steaks, pies & burgers and were not disappointed.... More

The evening menu food was well cooked and the portions more than generous. The cooked breakfast was equally good with a wide choice of dishes including smoked salmon. The cereals were accompanied by a large fruit bowl as well as fresh strawberries and blueberries.

I decided to go back to the Crown as I had not had a great experience on a Sunday lunch time a few months ago. Anyway, we went in the evening on the recommendation of the management and we were pleased with the Carvery. The meat choice was good and all were well cooked. The veg selection was amazing, many... Went in here for lunch. Variety on the menu and specials was extensive. Service was quick and the food quality and quantity was well above standard.

Lovely quaint country pub, Very nice food and a good selection, On Sundays the menu is limited as there is a carvery on. the prices are reasonable i would definitely recommend a visit, the staff are very friendly. it is very nice in the winter as there is an open fire.

My wife, daughter and I had dinner here on the last night of our holiday and left full, content and very praising of the service we'd received. The food itself was vey good, if not great. Hearty pub grub, served generously and at a decent price with only a couple of areas for improvement really. The olives we had were... More

Good pub, with some fascinating historical features. Was featured as 'The Pure Drop In' by Thomas Hardy. Hall & Woodhouse beers, reasonable wine selection and good pub grub. The Sunday roast is excellent.

We went for dinner for the first time to this popular local pub not knowing what to expect. We were greeted by the bar staff who seemed a little disinterested, were monosyllabic and frankly not very welcoming. We were allocated a table and handed menus and we found our own way there. Clearly, full waitress service was not operated and... More
