This fabulous tucked away up a close in Cupar treasure of a restaurant is an absolute gem. We gave eaten here on numerous occasions before lockdown and in recent months the team have adjusted to work within the guidelines perfectly, with outside & inside seating when allowed and a new take away service. We have used the take away service several times since lockdown and the food is just as fabulous as if we were sitting in. The flavours and quality of food served are 2nd to none in the local area and would compete extremely well with a number of other highly rated Fife restaurants. We are so lucky to live near this superb eatery and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Keep it up guys, great job.

Wonderful and safe. We have been to quite a few restaurants since they reopened. The set up at the Courtyard with well spaced tables inside, and the option of sitting outside in their gorgeous, sheltered, terrace meant that we were able to fully relax. Felt like we were on holiday, and really good to be out again. And the food was fabulous, jumbo juicy prawns in crab bisque, perfectly cooked risotto, and hot sweet local raspberries in red wine - what a treat! They are participating in the Government’s Eat our discount scheme, so it is a great chance to go. Service is excellent too. Can not fault it - we will be back.

Lovely warm and genuine welcome to a gentle unpretentious restaurant where smell of food warms your nostrils welcoming you in. Can eat outside or in. It was a glorious day with outside happy customers and in. Good range of beers and wine including German. All starters well received and delicious Jeygersschnitzel with fried potatoes superb. Venison lasagne and mussels looked great wafting from next table. You can tell a good restaurant when everyone eagerly checks other tables and things quieten to devour first class quality ingredients locally sourced and superb cooking. Couldn’t fault anything. So good we came back following week Cannot recommend more highly and very good value for money. Sehr sehr Gutt! We will be back soon

Really enjoyed our evening here, friendly and relaxed but still felt special. Incredibly good food, best meal we've had in a long while! The lady apologised when we paid because she felt service wasn't up to the usual standard because a member of staff had been absent, but we hadn't noticed at all. Everything arrived in what felt like perfect timing and was all delicious. We hope to be able to come again, it would be worth making a special trip to Cupar just for a meal here!

We have never had anything other than a positive experience at the Courtyard. All visitors are well looked after by the owner and young staff. The menu is excellent for such a small restaurant and specials are invariable very special. The Courtyard has a limited number of places but you never feel on top of one another. Care and consideration is offered to table location when possible. Relaxing atmosphere within walking idistance of home. Always a warm welcome. What more can you ask for.

We had an excellent meal here. The restaurant has a cosy relaxed atmosphere with attentive (not intrusive service) All the dishes we had were nicely presented without being "fancy" with portions of just the right size. Two of us had schnitzel which is the best we've eaten since we had it in Germany. There were vegetarian options too. Puddings were delicious. It was the tastiest meal out that we can remember in a long time.

You don’t have to spend a fortune at a restaurant in St Andrews, when you can have a fabulous meal for reasonable money in this quaint and delightful restaurant which is off the main road. Relaxed atmosphere is very conducive to a lovely evening and the food is belting. In fact it was so good we went back again the following night for another go. Food wise we would recommend the crab bisque and the pate as starters plus the venison, the pork and the monkfish skewer mains. Whatever happens you must have the apple fritters for pudding - simply magic. Super selection of wines and beers with a Germanic lilt. Can’t wait to come back to the area so we can go again.

My wife and I booked a table at The Courtyard to finish off a day out visiting Tentsmuir Forest. A booking for convenience as much as anything else turned out to be a gem. We had a great meal in a lovely quaint little restaurant up an alley off the main road through Cupar. Staff were very friendly and all 3 courses were excellent at a very reasonable price, although the favourite had to be the Apfelkuechle which is not to be missed. The Courtyard definitely makes it on to my short list of favourite restaurants. Look be back.

First visit to this restaurant, it is a pity we could not just pack it up and move it to the Midlands. The food, service and Covid organisation was perfect. The duck terrine starter and wood pigeon breasts main were just cooked to perfection. A definite recommend if you are looking for excellence. Will be back if and when we return to Cupar.

We had an excellent dinner and overall experience at the Courtyard. They were very nice and friendly when booking, including when we phoned ahead to see if we could come a little earlier as had gotten an earlier train. The food was excellent!! We both had the crab bisque - beautiful. My wife had the salmon and prawn with potatoes and veg, and I had the monkfish and prawn skewer with risotto. They were all very very nice!! I had sticky toffee pudding and ice cream, which didn’t last long as it kept up the excellence. My wife had the cheese, which was a very good selection of different cheeses. We washed it down with a very nice bottle of white Rioja. The bill was very reasonable, with a nice tip on top. The Courtyard is a perfect place for a really nice dinner, highly recommended.

Turned up on spec on a Wednesday lunchtime. Did not appear very busy and we were immediately given a table We were lucky to have arrived relatively early, since the other tables filled up very quickly. It soon became obvious why. The service was prompt and friendly without being pushy. The meal itself was delicious my wife having mussels while I had venison. Unfortunately we can resist everything but temptation so enjoyed delicious deserts as well All in all a great lunch I would advise booking which is what we will do the next time

We are so fortunate to have the Courtyard in Cupar and every visit to date has been an exceptional experience. Menu choices are extensive for such a small restaurant and there is always an interesting specials board. It never ceases to amaze me how they can serve so many with such a small and welcoming staff. Location is central Cupar but always remember the restaurant is not open every day. The restaurant is definitely value for money and a little gem in Cupar's social agenda for many residents and visitors.

We spotted this while strolling down the Main Street in Cupar, looking up the lane the planters and Courtyard looked like a wee oasis. It was a lovely sunny afternoon, the indoor seating was full so eating in the courtyard was the only option. We'd have chosen that anyway and were at a loss to comprehend why we were the only ones seated there! We had a large parasol for shade and the food was exceptional. My wife and I are 'foodies' and often have to manage our expectations when eating out. This was a great experience, delicious food done with a creative flair that surpassed any expectations we may have had. HIGHLY recommended.

Fantastic place. Lovely atmosphere and exceptional service. Meals are made with passion to the point you can taste it. Portions are nice size and quite generous. The place is tiny but really cosy.
