Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Located in a small building, believed to be old fire station, next to Lochranza ferry terminal. There is outdoor seating and food is served through a hatch due to current covid restrictions. Interesting selection of sandwiches and good range of drinks aswell as local ice cream. Sandwiches can seem pricey but they are delicious and well worth everypenny. They are clearly popular with cyclists and people waiting for the ferry. Staff are also very friendly.

Coffee is good, sandwich selection is really impressive and clearly an effort is made to locally source ingredients (vegetarians will be VERY pleased to see they're catered for thoughtfully); breakfast sandwiches a delight, perfect eggs. Given they have a real captive market here with the ferry, this is good food, good value and friendly service. Really pleasantly surprised.

We stopped here after a walk near Lochranza and ordered sandwiches which seemed to be pricey but on arrival they were better than good and well worth the cost. This is such a great spot. It is a real must whenever you are in the vicinity especially on a dry day when you can sit in the garden on the very basic wooden seats. This is a road side cafe with five stars !

This place takes a sandwich to a higher level. We had the hot smoked salmon from Skipness on focaccia from the Blackwaterfoot bakehouse - absolutely delicious. The "sandwich" is made up when you order so you can be assured that all the ingredients are fresh. Maybe a bit pricier than a bog standard sandwich but worth every penny. This is a place to stop when touring this wonderful island.

We had read a review of the place and thought we would give it a go when visiting Lochranza. The lady serving was so enthusiastic, helpful and accommodating to my picky 8 year olds, we all felt very catered for. The sandwiches were unbelievably delicious and commanded absolute silence for the time it took to devour them. I had the celeriac on focaccia and my partner had the sweet potato and lime pickle and both decided that we had to have a repeat as our last meal on Arran. The cookies are also very delicious and it's worth trying the sweetcorn one.

I always wondered why Lochranza had a ferry. Now I know - it is so people on the mainland can get across to buy their sandwiches from the Sandwich Station. Right opposite the ferry terminal. My wife predicted it will be a very boring choice - she couldn’t have been more wrong. Great bread, especially if cycling, it will fill you up, and interesting fillings including roast cauliflower and cumin/celeriac which was “inspired” according to my lunch partner. Plenty for carnivores too - I had chorizo and cream cheese. You will have to wait at lunchtime but I was impressed (slightly scared) by how efficient the system was, and the sandwiches were freshly made within 10 mins.. We didn’t try the coffee, so can’t comment on that.

Recommended by a near-by restaurant that had closed for lunch.... a real gem of a place for a "filling sandwich lunch..." Made to order, a "stack", & not for the light hearted ! Bread was outstanding - quite possibly one of the best ever sandwiches - light sourdough with hazelnuts and flavoured with turmeric. Absolutely delicious, a warm (hot) day and quirky outdoor tables and log stools. Watching the ferries come in.

My wife and I stopped by twice on Saturday 13th August and it was so good, we went again on Sunday 14th. First time round I had the chorizo, caramelised onion and cream cheese on sourdough bread. My wife had the goats cheese. Second time we both had the bbq spiced shredded pork with szechuan mayo. Both times we queued about 15 minutes as it was extremely busy, but I don't mind that when you're paying for quality. Will definitely go back next time we are on Arran again.

Opposite the ferry and close to the toilets, it's a very popular drop-in point for a great range of sandwiches, drinks or just an ice-cream. No wonder it's popular with people waiting for the ferry and cyclists doing the northern loop round the island. They even have a bike pump and tools point for running repairs.

Looking for a sandwich in the rain today and we never expected this level of class, warm fresh bread and delicious fillings. A full range from which we chose two different innovative vegan options. Excellent!

If there is a queue don’t be put off - this place is worth the wait! When we visited they were short staffed (due to covid) and the poor staff who were on were rushed off their feet! The menu selection is incredible, you can get cheese and ham if you’re a bit fussy, but the options are amazing, including several vegetarian/vegan choices which are so well thought out and something different from the norm. We went for the pork shoulder, and the hot smoked salmon with pickled cucumber. The fillings and bread were out of this world. The homemade flapjack was loved so much by the kids (and adults!) that I had to go up to order more! We had the good luck of seeing The Waverley at the port while we were eating too, it is such a beautiful spot. I’d definitely recommend arranging to stop here for lunch!

I went with high expectations having read glowing reviews but unfortunately the sandwiches did not live up to the hype. The beef was ample but quite tasteless and although I asked for white bread they arrived on sourdough, which I had specifically declined on ordering. Unfortunately they were so busy that there was little chance to complain before we had to depart.

Wherever you stay on the Isle of Arran please make sure you go here at least once on your visit. I promise you will never had a sandwich as good as this. There are unusual mixes for meat eaters, vegetarians and a vegan option and the brownies were amazing. I wish I had written down what was in everyones so I could replicate at home but I just remember my vegan option included roasted celeriac ….. Of all the places we ate on holiday this year, this is the overall winner from the family.

Popped her after visiting a local distillery. I opted for a local produced pastrami and piccalilli, Mrs Lard had mature cheddar and caramelised chutney. Both were served on sourdough bread and were just out of this world. Not the cheapest of sandwiches but with everything locally produced and tasting so good what’s there to complain about. The view of the little harbour and ferry crossing is also lovely to take in whilst enjoying a fine sandwich.

Sandwich shop opposite the ferry that serves very well filled sandwiches on delicious bread. Try the mackerel and rocket for example, a meal in itself. Excellent brownies too. Yummy.
