Attended with my wife and two children one aged 6 and one aged 2 years. From initially sitting at table to then getting the drinks menu and the drinks arriving ..... 20 minutes. Food order was taken and we asked for My wife’s started to arrive along with the mains and the kids meals. The kids meals arrived with my wife’s starter then some 15 minutes later our meals arrived after me asking what was the delay. This meant the kids had all but finished and we couldn’t really get time to eat our food as it hadn’t arrived all at the same time as requested to keep them occupied eating with us. My son ordered the posh pepperoni pizza less the chilli it was still quite spicy to spicy for a child to be honest ... you would think the waiter would suggest something or make the chef aware it was for a child making them have less spicy ground sauce as well as Less chilli ? He didn’t eat half the pizza and neither did I eat all mine we asked for a box but could only have it wrapped in tin foil. There seemed to be quite a few tables around us complaining of delay. Two nearest tables where offered free drinks by way of compensation. It’s small things also on top of the service lacking , when our mains eventually did arrive no offer of black pepper or cheese on top yet other tables around us were being offered this. Thankfully it was the eat out to help out as I really wouldn’t have felt comfortable paying the full price for average food and poor service. A suggestion would be some kind of drawing for children to help keep them occupied at the table. The prices of the food and drinks are pretty much what you would pay bang in the centre of Edinburgh. The ice cream desert was enjoyed by the children, the gluten free chocolate cake not so much by my wife , very dry. All in all I can’t say I’d rush back or recommend.

We have now visited Luci's several times both for special occasions and for meals out, with family and as a couple. The staff always provide friendly, speedy service with a smile, whilst the food is tasty, refined, but also generously sized! I chose the risotto this time, which was very flavourful, vibrant and also filling. We feel this Italian restaurant offers Lasswade a taste of the town without the extortion of town prices. Warm, inviting and classy this restaurant is a firm favourite of ours and a local gem in my opinion! Definitely recommend a cocktail or two, too!

My 60th birthday meal

Tonight I celebrated my 60th birthday meal in Luci's with my family. I had been looking forward to it for weeks. I specifically requested the large table upstairs because I felt it was quite exclusive. Unfortunately the service was appalling. We waited nearly one and a half hours to get our meal. It completely spoiled my night. My two wee grandchildren were absolutely shattered as it was way past their bedtime. I can't fault the food. The pizzas and pastas are delicious. My son's meal wasn't what he ordered but he was so hungry that he didn't complain and ate what he could. Also there was a mistake with the bill - they forgot to deduct the deposit - it was sorted out and an apology was given. If you are quite happy to wait a long time for your food then don't let this review put you off because the food is lovely but personally I won't be going back.

Good food let down by service

We made the most of the 50% off in January which seemed a good offer at the time. Food was nice, and the service was fine until we got the bill and noticed the "special" cocktail (same price) wasn't included in the "All" cocktails being advertised at £4 throughout January. No small print anywhere. This was queried and dismissed rudely with no explanation by two members of staff. Ruined an enjoyable evening and won't be going back.

Disappointing

Arrived early for a 5pm booking on Saturday 25th January and enjoyed the £4 cocktails in the bar area. Moved to the restaurant area which was freezing, staff had to turn on a heater next to us. I ordered bruschetta as starter and the bread was not toasted enough. Partner had mussels which were nice. My main of pasta bolognese was ok. Partner asked for carbonara made without cream which she had on a previous visit and enjoyed. This time the carbonara was like soup with spaghetti on top with grated carrots? A complaint was made and carbonara replaced with something not much better. It wasn’t eaten. A member of staff asked when we last ate there and when we said November we were told that the chef had since changed. Carbonara deducted from the menu and a desert or coffee offered. Coffee accepted but when the bill came we were charged for the coffee? We were beyond complaining. There also seemed to be a lack of staff as we kept having to ask for a drink instead of being asked. Staff that were working were very pleasant.

Amazing! Brilliant attention to detail...

Last night we used the upstairs venue for a special birthday celebration. From the moment we booked the space, to every interaction with the team they were intent on making sure our evening was perfect. They organised a set menu, making sure our favourite dishes were included, as well as specialist dietary needs looked after. And without any fuss or awkwardness on the evening in this regard either. The food was delicious, piping hot and served promptly. A huge thanks for making such a special night perfect for us! Definitely a venue to book if you have the need to organise something similarly special.

Very disappointing experience

We came here with family to take advantage of a 50% off in January deal they were offering. We arrived at 5pm to be told the deal ended at 5pm. It did not state this anywhere on the website. Because we had elderly parents and children it was not practical to leave so we ended up paying their extortionate prices for a mediocre meal that took 45 minutes to come. Best avoiding this place and trying one of the other nearby restaurants which are both great.

Hi There Im sorry you had a bad experience at Lucis it is not what our usual standard is. However the 50% deal was very heavily advertised ending at 4pm on a Friday. Prices are not extortionate in comparison to to other restaurants in the area. I think the reason you thought they were expensive and why you booked was because of our very generous offer of 50% discount which no other restaurant in the area is offering so please feel free to go to other restaurants in the area.

Lovely Friday night 3 course family dinner

We arrived early for a booking and sipped a lovely cocktail in the bar area. We were shown our table on time and it was in the centre of the restaurant. All of my family, husband, daughters aged 9 and 16 enjoyed all of our courses. Brunetta to start and a mushroom one and minestrone soup. All very good. The lemon sole was delicious, cooked perfectly with olives and capers. My girls had pasta and enjoyed theirs. Dessert my husband and I shared cheese and it was Served with a lovely chutney. The gluten free chocolate cake was a hit with my 9 year old and my 16 year old raved about the tirimisu Olly was our waiter & he was very attentive and excellent at his job. Louise & Luci lovely as usual and accommodating. Thanks for luci’s for a gorgeous family evening .

Food was amazing however hospitality was far from good. Booked a table for 7 had a main meal and a free drinks, didn’t order desserts. Still spent around £50 within the time we were there. As we weren’t ordering desserts we were asked to move through to the bar because they needed the table. It was only 50 minutes into our time there and we were told to move. We’re not impressed- wouldn’t give them my time now.

We normally go to Gigi's but fancied a change, we shouldn’t of bothered… we waited 10mins when we arrived to be acknowledge by anyone and once we were seated and ordered drinks, we then waited half an hour for our drinks! Food was bland my husband ordered a steak pasta dish and only got two bits of actual steak it in. Four of us and we all sent the main courses back. Clearly very understaffed. Felt sorry for the staff who had to deal with a busy restaurant with about five staff members… Even with the restaurant being an actual riot they were still giving table to people who hadn’t booked. They clearly should of stopped allowing anymore customer. Poor staff didn’t stand a chance.

Beautiful surroundings let down by awful food and mediocre service

Such a shame as we had high hopes in entering this fabulous building - design is lovely and first impressions positive. The first issue was air con and fact it was cold. The menu looked good but the food was simply bland and with poor quality ingredients (hence lack of flavour). It took 40mins for starters, which were th best part of the meal. Pizza was average and both pasta dishes bland and unworthy of the cost. In hindsight I should have returned both but the service had been so poor, we waited so long, we didn’t think it worth our while. Our free coffees given by way of an apology for our wait then took 20minutes. Great potential but awful food and overall experience.

My friend and I found this place accident while looking for somewhere to eat. Went for a late lunch which is the best food I have had in a long time, I had the pork &feta meatballs in tomato sauce delicious, friend had Carbonara. Staff were friendly and efficient. Surroundings are lovely n clean. Would highly recommend this place to eat, the price was very reasonable and we were even more pleased when we found out we got 50% off the food due to eat out help out government incentive.

Great food bad customer service

Booked 4 days in advance to arrive and our reservation to “not be there” told to wait outside in the cold and would serve us drinks which they did not. When ordered food they had multiple orders wrong and questioned us as if we had interfered with their ordering. Then continued to be rude towards our table for the remainder of the night. Ended up having to eat food we did not order, overall will not return! Unfortunately great food but poor customer service, really sad.

Thank you for your feedback but I would like to point out a few discrepancies in your story 1.Although you had a call log of phoning the restaurant you most certainly didn't speak to anyone to make a reservation. I was on phone duty on Tuesday and had to leave the phone unattended all day due to a family emergency. 2. You were asked to wait outside for a maximum of 5 mins due to Covid 19 to allow us to accomodate your alleged booking. 3 My staff were not rude to any of you it was the other way about( i have analysed the CCTV footage which has sound. 4.There were 8 of you and you would have been asked for a deposit of £5 per person company policy. 5.The CCTV shows you were given the food that you ordered as I said our CCTV has sound so we can hear. 6.We now no your names and have passed this onto other local businesses ( to watch out for you) We are sorry you had a bad experience in Luci's but we would rather you did not return we do not need business like yours please take your custom elsewhere that you are maybe more suited to. We have been to eat here many times it was ok, how ever the last time and it will be the last time, it was dreadful. service was good, the food was a joke, small portions some starters not on the menu.Mains one dish very dry never had a carbonara like this in Luci's ever ,i had asked for tomato & basil pasta it arrived a blg lump of pasta with tomato sauce, no taste i told the waiter there's no basil ln it ,the dish was returned told we have no basil. I have never seen lettuce on on top of a pizza before, the other pizza ordered was a prawn one looked so good it only had 4 prawn's on top i could go on and on, 2 out of 8 mains ok. There was no point complaining the waiter new how things were , it was the kitchen no one keeping an eye ,no manager not good forLuci's . Big bill no problem if it's up to standered.

Anniversary meal and drinks.

My wife and I booked a meal at Luci's to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary. We're delighted that we did as we were not disappointed. From receiving a warm welcome as we entered to being seated in a small private booth the atmosphere was great and we felt really relaxed. The attention to detail with the service was really great to see and we were never left waiting long for our food and drinks to arrive. We both really enjoyed the food and drink that we ordered and would definitely recommend anyone that's considering Luci's. Had we not booked another venue for drinks we would have happily stayed there for the rest of the night for cocktails and will be back soon!
