Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Four of us came here on a Thursday morning for coffee. Quickly seated and given menus. As we wanted coffees we also chose cakes, lovely selection. Three of us had Lemon Drizzle cake and one Cheesecake. Coffees and cakes were delicious, generous portions. Friendly staff....Will definitely be back when next in the area.More

Front of house rather peremptory. My toddler made her way to a corner table for two . I asked if it was ok to sit there and directed to observe the‘please wait to be seated’ sign next time. Fine, but there was no one there....Impression was not the most child friendly place.More

A well needed catch up with a mate I’ve not seen in about a year! Back up to Lossiemouth again for a course, following a new posting down south, I’d forgotten how charming and original the Harbour Lights restaurant was. The location, overlooking the Moray...Firth and Lossiemouth East Beach, is something you just don’t forget! We both ordered the Venison Burger (with a House Coleslaw and Chips included = £16.00), accompanied by two drinks. An enjoyable meal overall - the Venison was cooked well, the portion of Chips was hefty and the House Coleslaw was a nice addition (and very purple in colour)! Lovely service, lively atmosphere and scenic views, all at a reasonable cost. Good to be back!More

Recently visited while in Lossiemouth with family. We weren’t sure to have lunch or just coffee/cake which seemed to irk the waitress, who was miserable throughout. The cakes and drinks a high standard that said. I’m prepared to give this place the benefit of the...doubt but the manager should ensure the staff are a more courteous and welcoming to patrons. It’s located by the harbour side and seemed popular.More

Stopped here for lunch based on reviews, the place was very busy, service & staff were very good, can not fault that, sadly that’s were it ends, had a few drinks & the seafood platter!! If you know your fish from your fingers then don’t...be disappointed like we were, bought in ready made from wholesale supplier, prawn cocktail ( ready made sandwich filler) crayfish tails ( spooned out of a tub) smoked salmon, chilli prawns ….like the rubber ones you buy in a supermarket , mussels were very dry & no evidence of them having been cooked in white wine & garlic!! The fish goujons in breadcrumbs was definitely over cooked , definitely a rip off at £26! Would happily pay that for fresh seafood, such a shame as fresh seafood is abundant on their doorstepMore

Booked here after reading the good reviews. It is in a nice location looking onto the harbour and was busy when we arrived. I choose the Kedgeree, which was very tasty, husband choose the fish platter which was very disappointing, overpriced for what you were...served. A bit have a mishap with our drinks, we ordered 2 bottles of beers, but when they arrived they served non alcoholic, no apology was given when I pointed this out!More

Looking for Lunch on a sunny Lossiemouth day, Harbour Lights looked ideal, as we were able to sit outside, this, clearly popular eatery! We received a nice welcome from the first Staff Member we met, and, indeed, all the others, who served us were efficient...and charming. My wife chose the Cullen Skink, which she very much enjoyed, whilst I chose the Steak and Cheese Ciabatta Sandwich, with which I was, sadly quite disappointed. Nothing wrong with the Steak, but the Ciabatta was rather doughy, and possibly would have benefitted from being toasted, whilst the Cheese hardly noticeable! The Dish was accompanied by a fairly mean amount of Potato Crisps, one half of a Cherry Tomato and a few Rocket Leaves - underwhelming to say the least! Our drinks consisted of a recommended 175mm Glass of Picpoul and a 500ml Bottle of Windswept Blonde, plus one Double Espresso, all a tad overpriced, in my opinion, but not being familiar with this area of Scotland, these prices may well be par for the course! To summarise, then, the Service was very efficient and our Servers polite and friendly, the Cullen Skink, top notch, the Steak Sandwich disappointing and the drinks expensive!More

I have been here before but a few years ago. I am pleased to say we were not disappointed this time and it is still as good. We booked for lunch as it gets busy. I had excellent Cullen Skink with a cheese scone. The...selection of cakes and tray bakes looked good and good quality. Lovely friendly staff and good service.More

We went to the Harbour Lights Cafe as a family for lunch. Sadly we were quite disappointed with the food. We had to return 1 order as it was cold. One of our guests ordered the fish platter, she said for what was on the...platter it was not worth the money. Hubby ordered a scone with clotted cream, he said it definitely was not clotted cream. Some attention needed to cleanliness of tables and floor. The girl who served us was lovely.More

Harbour lights is a little gem. This is the 3rd year/time we have been to Harbour Lights for delicious food and lovely friendly welcoming staff. I cant recommend enough and viewed by the amount of custom it gets from regulars and cyclists alike I understand...why. We will certainly be back in 2024 so look forward to seeing you all again and eating more deliciously tasting treats. Many Thanks Nick & Janice.More

I had a fantastic breakfast with my partner and her brother. We sat outside as we had our dog with us (dogs are welcome outside). All three of us opted for the Scottish Breakfast, which was amazing. A non-greasey full Scottish breakfast - can’t be...beaten! Fantastic food, fantastic service, and a great location. Would definitely recommend.More

Lovely afternoon. Had not booked but tables out front vacant. Had been before more than once so quite confident to sit down and place an order for two Americano coffees. This was on the menu and the reason why we did not order anything to...eat was because we already had a booking for 6pm elsewhere. Anyway to cut it short the service was quick and friendly but we were served two filter coffees, not Americano. Do not insult your clients that they do not know the difference.More

Welcoming staff. Young group well trained and managed. Attentive and very smart in their matching shirts. Spotless tables. We chose an outdoor table. Lots of doggies, but they were well behaved. Music playing but not intrusive, added to the atmosphere. Good menu with something for...everyone. Would have liked more fresh fish. Chose grilled haddock and chips. Delicious! Toilet clean. Overall a great spot for good food.More
