Excellent Value and Service

We visited at 6.p.m on a quiet Thursday evening. Very warm welcome and first-class food. We were seated in a area where the lighting was subdued. A very pleasant ambience however it was a bit tricky to view the menu easily (maybe a spotlight had failed or been removed). The service provided by Kharis and Andy was exemplary, indeed a masterclass in high level hospitality. Three of us had two courses each and a total of three pints of beer - all for under £50! We look forward to another visit and this restaurant comes with our highest recommendation.

Birthday meal

Had a family birthday meal aiit Room, Largs on a Monday night in late September. Have been before, and,as usual, the food and service was excellent. Despite the covid crisis the restaurant was enjoyable and relaxed with comfortable social distancing. The menu is varied and offered a good selection at a reasonable price. They also managed to satisfy two vegans in our group of five who thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The Room has a high standard of food and service for relaxed dining and would do well whether it was in Glasgow or elsewhere and we will definitely be back soon.

After a long day of walking and being out in the cold we wanted some quick and tasty food so thought we'd give Room a try. the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and I cant fault them at all, we were shown to our table straight away and drink orders were placed. The menu is your standard "Pub Grub" kinda food but with maybe a little more flair. The missus ordered Mac & Cheese and i went for the House Burger with Mac & Cheese on top. The food came reasonably quick and it was nice enough.. enjoyable in fact.. but the portions were a bit on the small side and and while tasty it was nothing special. Maybe 3 out of 5 is a little harsh but at £27 for two fairly small dishes and two soft drinks I think its a bit overpriced. would I recommend Room? yeah... probably, but there's a fair amount of choice in Largs offering similar styled menu's at better prices and higher quality.

Went to this restaurant just after the lockdown to try to support local business. I was appalled at the welcome we were presented with. A pretentious owner who thinks you should be in awe of them accepting you into their overpriced dimly decorated snack bar. Half a cheese burger with burnt cheese 5 scampi with chips and burnt chicken in my uncles katsu curry. For over £50 for 3 meals I think the weather spoons would be a much healthier option. I did mention to the owner I was not happy with our service and he said I do not care what can you do.

Had the unfortunate experience of having lunch today! Drinks arrived quickly but it quickly went downhill from there! Vanilla milkshake was basically whisked milk no flavour. After waiting 30minutes we eventually got food. Kids munchie box was an unwrapped soggy tuna sandwich, squashed cheese triangle Pom bear crisps and a missing milky bar which was delivered when it was pointed out it was missing. Both the sandwich and the toasted sandwich arrived with homemade tortilla chips which were not pleasant at all too thick and fried in oil not hot enough way too greasy! Sides arrived 10 minutes later and quite frankly wish we hadn’t bothered ordering unbelievable greasy uncooked batter haloumi fries and the weirdest salt and chilli fries every (frozen chips fried red and yellow peppers drenched in SWEET chilli sauce) they were vile!

Been here a few times and it never disappoints. You can get 2 courses for £13.95 on selected dishes which is great value if you get a calzone which costs £11.95! The food was excellent as was the service. Can’t fault it. They’ll even box up left over pizza for you. Highly recommended!!!

Apart from the waitress everything was so wrong

7pm diners. Hygiene not great...cloth fabric on seats not clean...left over food from earlier diners not cleaned off the leather seating. Mushrooms on toast....burned toast yet still only warm! Thai Green Curry simply had a full chicken breast stuck in the middle of the dish, nowhere near an authentic Thai taste. Mexican dish a bit better but a long way from being good. After that we didn't bother with desserts. first waitress took drinks orders then simply vanished eventually attended to by someone else who tried her best but was not very polished. Never asked if the food was ok and never commented when all dishes went back hardly eaten. One of the worst bottles of Sauvignon I have had..left over half of the bottle on the table.Give it a miss.

Delicious menu, value for money and superb service FIVE STARS

The service was impeccable and the gluten free menu did not disappoint. My wife enjoyed her Thai green curry and thought she had started a trend as the lady on the other table had the same thing. The sizzling chicken tacos were very tasty and overall it was very good value for money. The waitress was very attentive but not over bearing as happens at some restaurants. Would not hesitate to recommend and will hopefully return to try the Thai green curry. Well done all.

One of the best restaurants in Largs... whether it’s sitting outside in the sun with a range of their classic cocktails or going for a family meal - it’s the perfect place for some tasty food and refreshing drinks. Mexican, Asian and traditional cuisine, the menu is highly varied and delicious. The staff are always very welcoming and attentive which creates a really lovely atmosphere about the place. Also family friendly with a range of things to do for the kids while they wait for their food including ‘make your own pizza’ and ‘make your own cupcake’. Definitely a place to visit whilst visiting Largs!

Great place for a family meal/drinks

First time visiting The Room and had a great experience. Fresh, tasty food and something for everyone on the menu. Staff and the manager were attentive and very friendly, even with being rushed off their feet. Really enjoyed the contactless service when bringing food and drinks to the table - felt very safe all evening. Great vegetarian options and staff were happy to accommodate making veggie alternatives to the main menu. Will definitely visit again.

VERY POOR ATTITUDE

I visited Room today for lunch and drinks with 4 friends. We will definitely not be back to this establishment ever again. We cannot fault the food or the waiter/waitress service, during lunch, however, our day out ended badly due to the rudeness of a male waiter as we moved to an outside table. We had reserved our table for lunch then sat on for some drinks. We were then asked to move to another table which was fine as our time was up at our lunch table. After spending a great deal of money and leaving a £12 tip, we then decided to pay our bill and move outside to a table as the waiter had put a reserved sign on our second table for other people who must have been coming to the restaurant. On sitting down outside, we asked for drinks. The waiter immediately nodded then practically in the same breath decided to change his mind and said that we had had a good day and to go on our way! We couldn't understand this as we were all having a lovely day and plenty of good laughs and were friendly and polite the whole day to the staff who served us. He was extremely rude and condescending to us and the people outside couldn't believe this attitude from him either. We have visited Room in the past and this has never happened before. This is no way to treat good paying customers who had been enjoying their day out together.

Very disappointed

Family of 7. 4 adults 3 children. Place was very busy and staff were not coping. Anything we asked for they seemed to forget the minute they walked away from table such as finding out soup of the day, getting crayons for the children, informing us of items not available from menu when given menu. Meals took over 1 hours to arrive, when they did come the plain burgers ordered had sauce. When we returned the meal a member of staff came to the table & asked if he could cut of the cheese instead of ordering new burgers. In the end we cancelled the burgers and 2 members of the party headed to chippy. The rest of the meals were not worth the wait or money paid. Seems a lovely restaurant in the sunshine, a real shame it was to busy for them to cope with the customers they were allowing to be seated. A member of staff told us when paying there were only 2 chefs and it has been a busy day. Appreciate the staff have had a hard day but if you can’t cope turn customers away. We wont return and actually annoyed we paid the bill we did for a poor service and food.

Well worth a visit!

Stopped by for some lunch as the location looks great, looking out over the bay, can imagine it is a great place to sit and watch the sunset later in the day. Read the reviews and felt it necessary to say how great our experience was, service was excellent, really attentive staff, even offering a bowl of water for the dogs. We sat outside as we had dogs with us but looked inside to visit the toilets, it’s a lot bigger than it looks from outside and really inviting. Food was really nice, couldn’t fault any of it. Wish we had visited earlier in our holiday as we would definitely have come back.

Shocking service

We stood in a queue unattended for 15 minutes while it grew. People began taking random seats we done the same and were then approach by a boy around 20 who started by shouting hoi when I explained that several people had all sat down he said I was rude I explained I was matter of fact unable to answer he refused to serve us. We asked for the manager her tried to assert he was the manager. I said I wasn’t accepting that and another young chap who said he was the general manager but would not give a name said he was not serving us. Absolutely joke place clearly left in the hands of a group of children unable to manage the place. Manager was also unacceptably rude and not interested in listening at all instead saying he was not serving us as we had sat down he then proceeded to serve people who has skipped the queue. People waiting left and others appeared unhappy with food and were sending it back

Apologies, but our staffs side of the story is completely different as well as other customers who were sat around at the time & saw the whole incident unfold, who agreed that the staff were spoken to by you in an unacceptable manner. The other customers that were in at the time were happy with the service and the food that they received, but thank you for your observation. We’re sorry you feel this way, but we don’t tolerate any customers being rude to our staff for any reason.

The Room, Largs

This is a difficult one to review as we went twice and couldn't say which evening was typical. The description on Trip Advisor "Mexican, Bar" may be misleading - while it may sell alcohol or Mexican food, it was a pleasant building with a normal menu. On the first evening a very efficient and pleasant waitress called Jennifer quickly brought a menu, explained what some of the more unusual titles meant and which foods were gluten free. She was one of those for whom nothing seemed to be too much trouble and brought the food plus a few extra things we asked for, all with little or no delay. While we were eating she came back to ask if she could get anything else and if what she had brought was to our liking and gave the impression that she was there to make sure we enjoyed our visit. On the second night we waited for ages to get a menu and ordered the same meals as the night before. After some time a waitress came back and served the food but even though the restaurant was only starting to fill up, no-one came back to ask if we needed anything else. As stated above we have no way of knowing what to expect if we had gone a third time. I've clicked on four of the green circles above because the first night was worth five and the second a lot lower so four is the average of the two.
