We know Diabeg having visited some years ago to view a plot of land. It is beautiful, remote and has a drive there that makes it quite an experience. It is a small community that was looking for just this kind of thing and we were delighted that this couple had bought the Schoolhouse and turned it into a small... More

I’ve travelled the Bealach na Ba Road and found that to be OK. The road to Lower Diabaig is in my opinion far worse to drive. But I’d heard good things about the Gille Brighde and was really looking forward to eating there, so I thought the drive would be worth the effort. Not so. Many other reviewers have raved... More

Hi! The road to our we place is definitely not for the faint hearted, and we are sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the drive. We are also really sad to hear our food described as 'just edible'. Not what we pride ourselves on... without specifics of what you ate we can't work out what happened to spoil your experience... More

I was lucky enough to visit Diabaig and find the Gille-Brighde. I popped in at 11am to say "hi, are you open soon?!". Fast forward to 12 and the freshest scallops were delivered by van, and within 20 mins on a plate in front of me. Seafood heaven. This is a must visit restaurant. Please remember to drive slowly, seriously... More

As a former resident of Diabaig who has returned frequently with daughter (enchanted) and wife (hungry), the success of this fantastic restaurant has been a joy. Book ahead. You won't be disappointed.

We went twice in two days in the last week. Once for lunch and one evening meal. All the food was really tasty and ambitious - the sweet potato fries were done beautifully with the venison and the prawn sauce on the Hake was great. The lunchtime Cullen Skink is to die for! Good range of beers and soft drinks... More

We visited twice in the first week of October, once for a late lunch and for an evening meal. The food is fresh, well cooked but not over complicated, the hosts are friendly and welcoming and Gille Brighde deserves the reputation it seems to be building. Long may this success continue, we'll be back.

Sadly we had already eaten lunch when we stopped for coffee at this gem of a restaurant. The food looked fantastic and Aart (one of the owners) was friendly. Next time we will visit with empty stomachs!
