Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Quick stop without booking after a Saturday evening walk. Staff couldn't be any nicer and accommodating and the food was hearty and delicious. One of the better beer gardens, it was ideal for the toddler to run about in.

What a treat! We dropped by from the beach for lunch. Having assumed we'd just have fish and chips to be safe, we ended up with a Greek dish, madras curry and beef strips in garlic cream between the 3 of us. The madras curry was one of the few dairy free options which one of our party needed and the staff were very patient in enquiring from the kitchen in that regard relating to various options - despite the kitchen being very busy at the time. There was quite a wait for the food, but not unreasonable given the busy time we arrived and the wonderful freshness of the food delivered. Would definitely recommend, even if personally could have done without the slightly distracting football screen in the background, preferring the harbour view myself!

What can one say? Brilliant little pub, very friendly staff & the food was great. We both had The Big Dirty 1/ served on hot plates YES keeps the chips hot to the end, the chips were great ,2/ the gravy made from the meat & the meat melted in the mouth, sooo tender, no fat, no gristle just beautiful beef. thank you for a lovely lunch, if it were around the corner back in Doncaster we would be there every week

I'm from Manchester and was in Scotland for the weekend, me & my hubby went for a walk on the beach then found the nearest pub - this one. Thank god we found it. The staff were so friendly, welcoming & always made sure we had everything we needed. We ordered some turkey dinosaurs for the dog which they cut up and put into a container (Brill). The main event of this pub is the food, the chef really needs a shout out on here because by gosh! We ordered chicken gyros and it was the BEST gyros ever. There was enough food given, the flat breads were perfect. Honestly I wish you was here in Manchester i'd be there daily. You have to give this place a try.

A wet and windy night in Troon! Where else than the harbour bar to cheer yourself up? Always amazing food, warm friendly atmosphere and fantastic staff. Tonight I stuck to my favourite tempura chicken and skinny chips, always lovely! my husband had the steak and sausage pie from the specials board, loads of filling and the pastry was flaky, golden brown and done to perfection. Thanks to Johnny and his staff who always make it a pleasure.

Our sons were with us recently from Chester and Sydney and Harbour Bar became our local for 2 weeks. Everything that we ate was first class and sharing platters .. wings and, especially, Nachos (all varieties) were superb. Bar and waiting staff, every one of them, were friendly and helpful and customers added just the right level of local pub ambience to every occasion. Oh, and the selection and quality of beers were a match with everything else that is good.

What a fantastic find! Went to Troon to walk the dog for a wee change and wanted some lunch afterwards. We asked a local and they recommended The Harbour Inn as it was dog friendly and promised that the food would be excellent. Thankfully, they weren’t wrong on either count. We were taken to the beer garden where our dog was well looked after with water and treats from the staff. Plenty of space for her to get comfy and fall asleep. The food was excellent pub grub and was really good value for money. Very filling and exactly what we were looking for. Staff were very welcoming, attentive and couldn’t have been nicer to our dog. We will definitely be back!

Why have I never visited this place before? Someone mentioned this place to us and we decided to give it a try. Phoned mid afternoon on a Saturday and asked if I could book a table for 2 for tea time, girl apologised that the only table they had was in the bar. We arrived and were shown to our seats, menus arrived promptly as did the drinks we ordered. The place was packed, but service was quick and the staff excellent. The food was fantastic, portions generous, will definitely be back.

Scoped this pub out on Trip Advisor and the reviews & recommendation were not wrong! This is a proper pub, serving fabulous food, the customer service was first class including the service for our wee dog. If you are in Troon and want quality food at a good price look no further you will not be disappointed.

Just finished a great lunch. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Great selection of beers on offer along with a brilliant food menu. Lots of choice. Everything we ordered was delicious with very generous portion sizes. Great beer garden and added bonus of being a dog friendly establishment. Strongly recommend a visit.

This is an old fashioned cosy bar in colder climes . On a scorcher of a day it was a pleasure to dine in the rear beer garden. The food is wonderful. All the classics are there but there is a range of unusual Hobos on offer. This is a dish similar to canadian poutine, basically a hill of skinny fries or thick cut wedges smothered in a topping of your choice,(see menu) My choice tonight was chicken fajita. My friend opted for mac cheese with bacon. Both very tasty. A massive portion and 2 drinks each came to £29. A great dining experience. This is also a great music venue, hopefully soon again, when the chains are off. The bar is situated off Portland St.on the left at the bottom of Templehill Rd.

On way to Prestwick was looking for dog friendly place to eat, this met requirements. Beer garden at rear, a bit strange as overlooked by houses. A domino competition was taking place so quite noisy though good fun. A well run town pub probs more suited to locals rather than visitors. I choose the steak pie very reasonably priced at £13.00 Choice of chips (frozen) or potato's l opted for the chips which were ok. Steak pie plenty meat and nice gravy came with veg. All in all good value

We were recommended this Pub for its food and beer and staggering distance from the Air BnB we were staying at. Its a characterful place, great clientele and friendly staff. I met two amazing blokes, one tall and bald who looked like he'd been in a few scrapes we chatted for 10 minutes but I had no idea what he said his accent was so thick. Then I spoke to an old boy with the longest grey beard I've ever seen covered in tattoos but a lovely bloke. I judge a place on its people and there was a diverse mix from younger adults to oldies and me and the wife in between. We stayed for food which incidentally is amazing, proper comfort food served quickly by two lovely young ladies. The lads serving behind the bar were excellent too. I didn't meet the chef but I'd shake his hand if I did. The bar and lounge are characterful and reflected the fishing heritage of the area. There appears to be a large selection of lager and Ales but when I visit Scotland I drink Tennants lager or Belhaven best. The fish and chips I had was excellent and my wife had the peppercorn steak on skinny fries, she couldn't quite manage it all despite having a Geordie lasses appetite. If i'm back in the area I'm going back to the Harbour Bar.

Been to Troon hundreds of times as live in Ayrshire and I don’t know why I have never been here . Anyway went to the beer garden as good weather and we decided to get something to eat . I got a 2 course of the smaller menu and the portions were great. Also food for me Mac and chips were delicious. My husband went for the normal menu and got a steak dish with peppercorn sauce over chips and he said it was good. Definitely will return and recommend.
