Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Good food, however service was very slow and food overpriced. It would have been nicer if we had table service as had to queue again to order our our tea and cake after our main course.

Lovely setting but that is where the positives end! Fairly busy but not excessively so. Ordered lunch but the wait was so long we got a refund and left. They really need to get their systems sorted out as we witnessed two other tables of...people do the same.More

This is a really great spot on the outskirts of Honiton. There is a lovely outside seating area and plenty of room inside should the weather be poor. The menu has the classics but also dishes with a twist. We go for breakfast and are...never disappointed. There is a small farm shop area and plenty for the kids to do outside with farm animals and a play area. Definitely one for families.More

Visited with a friend twice in the past few weeks. Good quality fresh food, expect to pay slightly more than other places. Not table service but order food at counter. Wide choice of food options with delicious cakes.

A lovely place for lunch! Nice views, especially driving past the Highland Cows! A little pricey so wouldn’t be a place I’d visit often. However, we did enjoy!

An absolutely lovely Afternoon Tea, it was a proper treat for Mother’s Day. Everything was fresh and delicious and they were able to accommodate our vegetarian and toddler with no hassle. Will definitely be back

Return visit again to the Heron. Delicious lunch of tuna on malted granary bread for myself & hubby had coronation chicken on malted granary-both served with crisps & side salad. Really fresh ingredients, generous sandwich fillings & lovely dressing on the salad. Afterwards a flat...white, a mug of farmers tea, a slice of old school sponge & a slice of Emma’s tiffin to round off-scrummy! Always a nice menu selection & specials on the board. As a fussy vegetarian. The Heron more than passed! Nice to be able to converse with your lunch date without a lot of background noise. Lovely light, airy & warm barn type building & those views! After lunch, a spot of retail therapy in the farm shop, lovely selection of food, drinks & gifts. Won’t be too long before we’re back!More

Absolutely loved this charming little farm cafe and so glad we found it. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, attentive staff and food was amazing and so fresh My husband said the Sunday Roast was the best he'd had. I loved the harissa butternut squash and halloumi salad...I had. Kids both enjoyed their food and tasted very fresh. Lovely little shop to visit on the way out. We will definitely be back!!More

Came to try the Sunday lunch. Been a few times and food though expensive always fresh and tasty. Sunday lunch was…ok. Mine wasn’t hot when it came, and tatties a little hard but added to that had to go and queue (again) to get another...glass of wine for me and mum in law whilst my already lukewarm plate got colder as no table service . 3 others in the queue ahead and only one till. After mains finished we couldn’t face queuing again to get desserts or coffees so came home for tea and biscuits! It is a lovely venue and always busy despite the price but that was a big let down.i will come again and get a sandwich or baked tattie etc but not for a Sunday lunch. This is no disrespect to staff who are nice just the model not great for a “top up” if you want additional drinks or puds etc.More

After a day hiking in Muirkirk and Cairn Table, we decided to stop off at this farm shop for light lunch. The front of the shop sell groceries and we bought a couple of jars of jam. The restaurant was near full, but we managed...to get a seat for two and ordered a Lentil Soup, Salt & Pepper Fries with two coffees. Everything was okay.More

We went for a magical Christmas event where the kids got pancakes and to see Santa where Santa told the children a story and interacted with the kids. I had a lovely coffee and excellent bacon roll, First class.

Visited several times over the last few years, unfortunately prices are now incredibly high for the brunch/lunch category. £10+ for baked potato for example. Especially given it’s not table service, but go up and order style (with strict instructions issued). Upon arrival and looking for...a table met by quite unfriendly lady, not sure why that’s the front of house experience you’d want. Aside from that fantastic setting, interior is really nice as is the shop section. I’m afraid though won’t be back anytime soon.More

Great location, lovely building. Should be fab but let down by their officious attitude and slow service. Been twice and left angry both times. Not going back. You queue at the counter to be “allocated” your table, and order and pay, while a card with...your table number and a list of their instructions - yes really! - is handed to you! They only take card payments apparently due to security now that their previous covid excuse doesn’t wash. Anyway, we rebelled and chose a better table than the allocated rubbish spot, then waited and waited. When it arrived my cappuccino was like watery frothy milk only vaguely coffee tasting. Couldn’t drink it. Ridiculous when they have a fancy machine to make the stuff. The soup, was of the ‘baby food’ variety.. too thick puréed something that didn’t taste of much of anything. That got left too. The roll was ok. I had hoped our first visit was a covid related blip, but no. If you like being ordered about, don’t care about the impact of cashless on vulnerable groups or society generally and aren’t fussy about paying over the odds for no table service and average food, go for it.More

We were extremely disappointed with the Heron. The food was quite expensive, and the coffee was undrinkable. Sadly we won't be back.
