The hotel is very welcoming, and we were able to have a scotch or two in the bar before wandering through to the restaurant - an excellent collection behind the bar. The restaurant itself is fairly small but well ordered, and a seating area allowed us to wait in comfort on sofas by a fireplace while we perused the menus.... More

We ate in the Port Charlotte on New Years Eve. They were booked-up but offered us an early sitting at 6pm which was fine. The food was very good, my partner particularly enjoyed her sea bass, I went for the beef sausages and regretted not going for the fish. The bar was excellent, with friendly staff who made us feel... We had an amazing meal in the bar of the Port Charlotte Hotel. There was a lovely ambience with a cosy stove and very friendly staff. The bar and restaurant were busy throughout our meal. All local Whiskey's and ales were on offer. The menu was great with plenty of choice. We opted for the scallops for starter and both... More

We were greatly impressed by the gentleman who welcomed us to the Pub bar for a light lunch. He was a good source of information about any part of the Isle of Islay where we were for a week. His recommendations ket us busy all week and that was without visiting one Whisky Distillery!! There were 8 of them. The... More

We visited this hotel for a post-wedding dinner and were not disappointed. We received a warm welcome and complimentary bottle of champagne to help the celebrations along. The food was delicious. Our glasses of wine were topped up regularly and after dinner drinks were served on sofas around the fire. A lovely evening with the friendly Islay locals.

whenever we come to Islay we eat in the restaurant. And the high standard of cooking has never changed during the years. The seafood is wonderful and the atmosphere in the bar excellent.

Had a lovely meal here and a pretty poor one. Experience was uncomfortable with the poor one where we were basically not believed. Worth a visit although the menu is overpriced for what you get. Service not that friendly.

The restaurant in this hotel in Port Charlotte serves wonderful traditional dishes and gives you a perspective on the local residents and some of the more curious tourists. Not everybody gets down to this side of Islay past Bowmore. It is worth the trip and makes a perfect combination with a visit to Bruichladdich Distillery. Not only did they have... More

Stopped off here just for a drink before going to our accomadation. Had a beer a wine and a packet of crisps and it came to £12.60. Questioned it and was told it was right. Never paid that much for 2drinks and a packet of crisps in my life and we come from the expensive area of the Cotswolds, another... More

Visited Port Charlotte Hotel Restaurant for dinner and were made very welcome - we hadn't booked but were able to sit in the Lounge area where Menu's and drinks were very soon offered - not long before shown to our table where we enjoyed a well presented meal - the Crabmeat for starters was followed by the Monkfish for the...
