Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were welcomed warmly and seated in the comfortable dining room. Following a cocktail (organised by Jonny) the chef, Carla, introduced herself and explained the background and ingredients of the first course. It was a delicious avocado soup with lobster. This format was repeated throughout...the meal and it was fascinating to hear about Carla and Jonny's travels and the development of the next course. All the food was absolutely fabulous, beautifully presented and delicious to eat. All in all a great experience and would highly recommend - if you can get in!More

This little restaurant (I’ve said little as it seats 16 persons)so nice, how the interior has been thought of gives you a comfortable feel about the building. The host explained every meal in between courses (everyone eats at the same set menu, even though we all weren’t...together). The ingredients of each meal, where the produce came from, fished locally from the sea in the morning, grown from their, how it’s cooked & even herbs from there own allotment or herd garden. The wait wasn’t too long between courses overall approximately 3 & half hours was our experience, you can stay as long as you like. The food was lovely and well presented,if there was one thing there wasn’t enough mackerel or lobster from these dishes although I understand it’s was Michelin standards. There are plenty of different drinks, soft drinks, wines, port, champagne & lagers so you have a great choice.More

Change of approach from Carla. Now only doing lunches with a set four course menu - there are samples on the website. but prepare to be surprised. And what a lunch! brilliant local produce, cuisine influences from around the world. Fantastic cookery, we’d never heard...of several of the ingredients - “grains of paradise” - with meadowsweet and chocolate. A truly memorable meal. Lunch at Ninth Wave is relaxed and unhurried with good service and plenty of opportunity to chat to the chef. Come ready for an event rather than just lunch, allow yourself 3-4 hrs especially if you choose to add the cheeseboard.More

A wonderful experience, made of so many parts brought together to perfection. The food was obviously delicious, so fresh, as Johnny, the server who had also caught the fish and seafood on his boat, said "oh this cod was still swimming in the ocean at...noon!" the colours and the presentation, the overall atmosphere, the kindness and pleasantness of the whole thing. You don't want to miss it. A memorable night indeed. We were lucky to stay in the Captain's Cabin just next door which was also wonderful. I hear that the establishment is changing and I am looking forward to eat here anytime in the future, under any arrangement.More

Visited Nineth Wave on our last evening on the Isle of Mull. This was reason for our visit on the island, and what an experience it was. The food was well thought through, as the flavours were beautiful, very fresh, locally sourced, & well presented. The...atmosphere was a very relaxed one, with not too many covers, which added to our special evening . A very warm thankyou to the waiting staff, who were just gorgeous. We both wish you well on your new adventures, and will continue to follow you with joy, weather it is with food, or listening to you on the radio.. Much love.More

Managed to book a table for last night and had a fantastic meal, complimented by top service from the young lady and the chap in a kilt. Menu was packed with flavour, especially the oyster starter. All complicated by a lovely bottle of wine. Highly...recommend trying this place if you can get a table before the end of their seasonMore

Where do I start? We were immediately met with a warm welcome and shown into the beautifully designed restaurant, then onto our perfectly laid table. Loved the high quality cutlery. It set the tone for what I was about to experience. We opted for the...4 course meal and then the party really started. Our friends had been before and therefore we were at an advantage. It is a small family run restaurant. Our friends told us that the fish was caught that morning by the owner and that the chef had appeared on Masterchef Professionals. I wish I had enough words to express how amazing the meal was and what really helped was how, the waitress went through each course to tell us how it had been cooked etc. I was very impressed how knowledgeable she was. It all added to how special the night was. The food was fantastic, to say each course took me on a culinary journey, it was refined, balanced and you could taste the quality of the produce. The presentation of each course was art on a plate…so I decided to be that person, who took a picture of ever course… the pictures won’t do the meal justice but I can tell you…every mouthful was a blessing. I cannot recommend this restaurant so highly, prices are reasonable and reflect the quality of the food. Treat yourself and book!More

Once again a fabulous meal and great service. Carla is an extraordinarily creative chef. Soufflé style crab cheesecake with salmon beechwood smoked on the premises - delicious. Cocktails, including the non-alcohol ones brilliant. Highly recommended but you definitely need to book week in advance

The chef is certainly skilled and several of the dishes were very tasty and imaginative. On the downside there is no view, it’s just a single room with no main windows which could be anywhere which is a shame when you’re in such a beautiful...location. (There is a small side window where I was able to see the back of a sheep.) It’s also very pricey - I don’t object to that in principle, but comments such as ‘oh, so you’re having wine by the glass and not a bottle’ weren’t ideal and betray the motivation of the owner. Overall just a bit too contrived for my taste but no doubt this won’t be an issue for others.More

This destination restaurant is made more special because of its access - over an hour along a single track road from Craignure ferry drop off from Oban.On top of that it is only open in the evenings Wednesday to Saturday and then there is only...seating for 16 customers. It really requires an overnight stay.On top of that it is also a little off the beaten track outside Fionnphort down a single dirt track road.Notwithstanding that they are booked out months in advance. It is an amazing how it came to be which is all on their website.Carla is in the kitchen with a sous chef whose wife is front of house. John provides all the fish and shellfish himself and he also has a vegetable and herb garden along with foraging which supplies the restaurant. The tasting menu is creative imaginative with a delicate balance of flavours as the images portray Chi Ki front of house was so engaging informative and polite We were fortunate to have a reservation for what was a truly memorable experienceMore

It’s walkable (go the road way not over the fields like a certain stag party!) it is definitely worth the walk, bring a torch and sensible footwear.
