Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The café was quite busy when we arrived, but we were served very quickly, there is a good range of hot food and drinks on offer there, plenty of seating inside and out. covid spacing still applied here and was adhered to. fantastic hot chocolate.

We stopped in after completing the Cairnwell munros. It was a roasting hot day and we were starving! Two delicious ciabattas- one with tuna, cheese and onion, the other coronation chicken - really hit the spot. Served with a nice salad and coleslaw. The staff were friendly and can't fault the food. Outdoor seating available, dog friendly. Would visit again!

The man at the till was lovely. The roll was fine however the toastie that we were charged near enough a fiver was awful. The cheese wasn’t melted - not that there was much to begin with. The butter inside the toastie was also still cold - rip off. Wouldn’t advise eating here the place was dead so it’s not like my food wasn’t cooked because it was busy.
Last time we visited the centre to hike we over heard the owner telling a biker that they were welcome however the hikers are not because they don’t spend any money in his cafe.

Sorry to say we were disappointed to have visited this cafe which was quite chilly and had poor service.
It was a very wet day and before walking on the munros we decided to wait out the rain and treat ourselves to a hot chocolate, vegan sausage and egg roll and a tray bake.
We got the hot chocolate and really lovely mint traybake quickly but waited 20 minutes or so for the roll, by then we had drank our drink, and when the food arrived it had bacon on with the egg and sausages.
We can understand a mistake, they happen, but when we advised the server, she picked up the plate, turned around and went away with it abruptly, without a word, no apologies, no mention of a resolution.. were we to wait another 20 minutes or more and would the sausages, egg and roll be reused without the bacon on, or would it be freshly prepared (turns out the sausage was meat as well, which we would have eaten if there hadn't been bacon on, not realising!).
After a 10 minute wait with no answers, we went and got the roll refunded, still no apology, we should have asked for a full refund really, as the whole experience was such a disappointment and a close call for a life long veggie!
Just a simple apology would have made all the difference here..

I stopped here on the way home from an overnight hike up Carn Toul and was very cold and wet. This place was perfect.
Food served fast and good value. They had a wide range of things for those with allergies as my friend (who is allergic to everything discovered).
Not a fancy restaurant but friendly service.

Perfect spot for a mid morning tea and cake, loved that the cakes were home made. Gorgeous setting, friendly staff and feels very rustic ski chalet in decor. Even better that the mountain rescue dog pops out to visit customers
Highly recommend as a spot for a tea and cake break

Stopped on our way from Pitlochry to Ballater for a bite of brunch. Very popular stopping place for travellers through Glenshee at this time of year so it was pretty busy.
Good bacon rolls and coffee, good menu if you were after something more.
There is plenty of parking, loads of outdoor and indoor seating and dog friendly, and we have 2 large dogs, which can be restricting. Good service, good pricing.
We're sure to stop again.

Stopped here to have a hot drink on a really busy day (2nd Jan). The place was really busy so we had to queue for 30-40 minutes. The cafe itself is pretty basic which is to be expected seeing as its clientele mainly wear ski boots. I didn't have any food though it looked pretty good.

A great place to recharge before or after heading out on the hills. The food was good and portions generous. Very welcoming to our dog too.

Rude and frustrated lady behind the counter. She complained loudly in front of customers about too many famlies with sledges, like we were worst sort of customers.

We had lovely coffee and cake at ‘The Tea at the Shee’ yesterday. There was a great selection of goodies, the service was excellent and friendly, and the tables and chairs were thoroughly cleaned between customers - they were very COVID aware.

This is a very remote Cafe and is designed for Skiers i.e. stone type floor for wet boots etc etc. However out of season it caters for tourists and that is what you get. Certainly it is clean and their is a good array of Cakes, Savouries, Coffees etc, etc. We had some Sausage Sandwiches, Cakes and Scones with Coffee. The standard was satisfactory and the service was good, quite friendly as well. Towards the end the Tour Buses started to arrive and the place filled up quickly but it is roomy enough to take the crowds. They dont stay long and it gets back to normal quickly. A bonus is that you can take in your Dog. Dont expect 5 star cuisine but then it is a Cafe !!!!

Had breakfast here on way to Glasgow airport from Ballater. Quality was poor, ditto service. Female staff member short changed my wife by £10 - when this was pointed out she merely handed over a tenner without a single word.
