This is a difficult place to review. The food was good, well cooked, hot and fresh. The menu a little dated, especially in the deserts where it was crumble, sticky toffee or ice cream which is rather old hat. However the food was good and enjoyed. I had the liguini followed by crumble my partner had scampi followed by ice cream. Good home cooked grub.
The ambience was lacking, tables sticky with beer or whsyever and the waiting stsff were ok but missed we were booked in and not residents and were surprised when they realised. Civil in all they did but not friendly perhaps because we were foreigners.
Would I return? No but likewise I do not regret eating there.
Its a stunning location on the lochside if this was in the middle of a town its ambience, poor decor and staff attitude would mean its popularity would not be so good. Yet this coild be a goldmine.

They are obviously short staffed (like most places) but despite this the service was great and they very friendly and welcoming. The kids menu was great for choice and value.
Our main meals were very nice. However, the desserts (with the exception of the ice cream) were awful. The rhubarb crumble looked terrible and tasted even worse. My husband had the sticky toffee pudding but it was visibly dry and he couldn’t cut through the middle of it. It was rock hard!
They did change my crumble and took the sticky toffee off the bill. However, the Baileys Creme Brûlée I requested had not a hint of Baileys in it. It tasted very plain (maybe they forgot to add the Baileys).

Ate a few times as stayed in the inn. The food was delicious and served with a smile. As a group, we tried all the dishes on the menu and particularly liked the fish, venison, salmon pasta, sharing platters and steak. The macaroni cheese was very small and more a side dish. The deserts were well made but they go quickly if a busy night. The wine list wasn’t bad and had a range of cocktails on offer. Would definitely go back

Visited recently on a Friday evening and received excellent service from the very friendly and welcoming Romanian barman who appears to be doing everything ...pleasant and entertaining as he was he is clearly no chef .
The food was quite simply dreadful , both the starter and main course that I was served were totally inedible and very obviously packet and tinned sourced items deep fried or microwaved accompanied by chips oozing grease and a wilting old looking garnish. I returned home hungry annoyed and £45 lighter ! It was honestly the worst meal I recall ever being served in a restaurant frankly appalling .
The new owners need to be realistic and take the quality of the food they buy and serve seriously because people are not stupid and can differentiate between quality well made food and junk and who really wants to pay restaurant prices to eat some tasteless pre made stuff from a cash and carry ?
We live in the area and genuinely want all the eateries to do well and to serve quality food but at this point in time the stagecoach has lost their way completely and only the most cluelessness punters would think the kind of food we received was acceptable and return .
Mr New owner please put your house in order.

We stayed for 2 nights, in one of the Lochside rooms, with a balcony overlooking the Loch, and I must say that this hotel has an excellent view across Loch Fyne, we wanted to stay here to visit Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, which was fabulous!
But, where do I start?
Let’s start with some advice for the owners.
Please invest in some new bedding, as the bedding on our bed was dingy, and discoloured, I’m unclear as to what colour it started out as!
Please put some shelves in the bathroom, or even one shelf would be useful to put one’s toiletries!
Please scrub the chairs and tables on the balconies, they are green.
Please stop ‘cheese paring’ on the breakfasts. You cannot call orange juice, packets of cereal and a toasting machine a ‘ Breakfast Buffet’ as listed on your menu.
At £150 per night, you can definitely afford to serve a more generous breakfast!
I will in fact give this hotel an award though! Having travelled extensively all over the world, this is by far the ‘Worst Breakfast I Have Ever Had’ and definitely the smallest. *insert disappointed emoji*
The waitress at breakfast regarded me as if I had two heads, when I told her that I didn’t eat meat. She cautioned, that she ‘would speak to chef, and see what he could do’.......
Generously, she announced, that he could do me an egg with some beans and mushrooms, so I said fine, and I was looking forward to the ‘Scottish Breakfast’ as advertised!
I wish I had taken a photo, there was a dessert spoon of beans, about 24, seriously, and a dessertspoonful of mushrooms and a lonely egg on a vast plate with a sad looking potato scone.
I didn’t know wether to laugh or cry! I was genuinely hungry, and too shocked to complain I think.
We were stung really, overcharged for what was a below average hotel stay. But you live and learn! I won’t darken their door again.

Poor food served on cold plates. Goats cheese starters were over cooked (batter hard and very dark) Cullen skink was tasty and hot but really was leek and potato with some seafood. Pork loin was tough and the stuffing was hard and the whole dish was cold served on a cold plate. Steak pie was tasty and hot but vegetables cold again a cold plate. Chips were ok. Service from the barman / waiter was very good.

We had seen some great reviews, so were looking forward to our stay. 2 couples booked balcony rooms, and the view did not disappoint, even in the rain. Wonderful view to wake up to in the morning. Rooms are a little shabby.. We had lights not working, and a lamp not working, though we forgot to report this. Bed was comfortable and large, though new crisp bedding would be an improvement for a room of this price.
Two main concerns were lack of diligence around Covid and disappointment with food - as we had seen very good reviews. Did not expect there to be any buffet breakfast due to Covid, however, glass jugs of juice to share, milk jug to share, and open bowls of yoghurt!!! Plenty of hand sanitiser available. Only 3 choices of cereal available along with cooked breakfast which was basic. No fruit available. Very, very poor for what we paid.
One of our party was coeliac and we discovered that weetabix (definitely not gluten free!!) was in the same small serving basket as the gluten free cereal packets, which caused a problem for a sleepy guest! Again, just a lack of attention to detail.
However, in their favour the staff were lovely, and were very friendly and attentive. It is a relaxing place to be. But a bit more care and attention would make a big difference.

Recently visited this restaurant for dinner. The location was excellent, with a beer garden offering a lovely view of the loch. The staff were very attentive and friendly. However, both of these things could not excuse for the appalling food they serve. It reminded us of something you might see on Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares - cheap food thrown together with no care and being sold at £18 a dish. The descriptions on the menu did not reflect what was served, for example I ordered sea bass on a bed of mash potato with a salmon salsa verde and was served two cheap vacuum packed fillets of fish, next to a tiny portion of very average mash and the 'salmon salsa verde' was in fact a jar of pesto. They clearly expect people to not know the difference between a salsa verde and a pesto and so think they can get away with selling one for the other. This would have been disappointing had I spent £8, but for £18 it was a disgrace.
We expressed our disappointed and the staff were very understanding and handled the situation well. I would recommend coming here for a pint in the beer garden and leave it at that.

We came here to eat whilst holidaying nearby. Unfortunately, we were incredibly disappointed with our experience. It's important to note that the bar and service staff were incredibly friendly and can't be faulted. However, the food we received should not be served to paying customers and should definitely not be considered as pub/restaurant standard food. It was quite evident that everything on all of our plates was frozen and nothing was homemade. The burger was half the size of the cheap bun it was served on. It came with no sauce or salad inside, was incredibly dry and included a measly ration of bacon that may as well have not been there along with some frozen, tasteless chips. The fish and chips (also terrible) claimed to come with tartare sauce - whilst not completely false, the tartare sauce was already on the table in small, service station packets along with the packaged mustard and ketchup (not worthy of a mention on the menu). It was so astoundingly bad, a 10 year old could have put the meals together. We were seated in a very dim, dreary and dated looking room which didn't better the experience. Local ales were also advertised but not available. Again to reiterate, the staff were lovely. However, we will not be returning and would absolutely not recommend eating here.

We are long term caravan owners in Lochgoilhead and like to eat around the whole Argyll and Bute area. Would normally go rushing past to Inveraray but this time we made a detour and had lunch at the StageCoach Inn. First impression is the hotel might be closed as too many entrances and not enough signage shouting we are open. Remove those chairs and cushion in that front porch ya dafties. But get past that and there is a very affordable full menu with something for everyones taste. I am writing this after our second visit in the space of two weeks. The food, welcome and service were all top notch and the images posted are from today 19th Aug. Yes the hotel is a bit older and bit tired but there are so many new places opening now that are all bells and whistles and fancy modern but you will pay for it. Wee snug bars and restaurants like this are fast disppearing and so if you want a good bit of scran at an affordable price in a beautiful location look no further.
Many thanks to the StageCoach inn. No need to go to Inverarary.

Recently visited the Stagecoach Inn for an evening meal with my wife and daughter.
The Inn is full of character as you would expect from one of the oldest Inns in the region with views over Loch Fyne.
We found the menu and variety of dishes plentiful, the quality of the food and the service provided by the staff were both excellent.
We hope to return to the area next year and very much look forward to returning to the Stagecoach Inn for an evening meal.
For whisky lovers, the Inn offers a vast selection 👌

Brilliant home cooked food at a reasonable price. The Stagecoach offers proper pub grub. Service is great and they offer a good choice of beers and you can get a pint for less than a fiver.

A nice pub next at the water's edge, almost hidden away. They have a limited food menu, but make up with a very well stocked bar. Acceptable service and quick presentation of food.

We had a lovely 3 night stay here in a Lochside room. Really very peaceful and a lovely view over the Loch. Yes, the rooms are a little dated BUT really comfortable and spacious. The jacuzzi bath was a definite plus. The staff were always cheerful with a warm welcome.
The location is a great base for exploring- we visited Loch Lomond, Fort William, Glencoe, Glen Etive and Inveraray to name a few.
Excellent value.

So cold. What little heating that was on was turned off during the night even when outside temperature had dropped to -5. I was in a twin room and had to take the covers from the other bed to try to keep warm.
The bar food wasn't great. £23.50 for a basic steak pie n chips and a large red wine. That money alone should have kept the heating on for the night.
