Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

So cold. What little heating that was on was turned off during the night even when outside temperature had dropped to -5. I was in a twin room and had to take the covers from the other bed to try to keep warm. The bar...food wasn't great. £23.50 for a basic steak pie n chips and a large red wine. That money alone should have kept the heating on for the night.More

We called in at lunchtime to book an early evening meal the same day. This was done with minimum fuss.

Just had a three night stay with my wife and dog. We had a loch side room with decking overlooking the loch. Can’t fault the room or the hotel. All the food was excellent and freshly cooked. You may have a bit of wait at...breakfast time but worth it. All the staff were great and the locals were very friendly and easy to strike a conversation with. Our dog was made welcome by all. Thank you from a very recharged couple and dog.More

We are long term caravan owners in Lochgoilhead and like to eat around the whole Argyll and Bute area. Would normally go rushing past to Inveraray but this time we made a detour and had lunch at the StageCoach Inn. First impression is the hotel...might be closed as too many entrances and not enough signage shouting we are open. Remove those chairs and cushion in that front porch ya dafties. But get past that and there is a very affordable full menu with something for everyones taste. I am writing this after our second visit in the space of two weeks. The food, welcome and service were all top notch and the images posted are from today 19th Aug. Yes the hotel is a bit older and bit tired but there are so many new places opening now that are all bells and whistles and fancy modern but you will pay for it. Wee snug bars and restaurants like this are fast disppearing and so if you want a good bit of scran at an affordable price in a beautiful location look no further. Many thanks to the StageCoach inn. No need to go to Inverarary.More

Called in for a meal and we're blown away by the fantastic food superb staff and glorious location. Just a short detour off the A83 as you travel towards Inverary. Worthy of a detour which would have been the original road in the dim and...distant past. Right on the shore of Loch Fyne. Intend to stop over next time. We found the food prices very realistic.. Can't fault it.More

I ate here for a night whilst staying at the hotel on business and it was pretty poor. Would advise Inveraray Co op.

We came here to eat whilst holidaying nearby. Unfortunately, we were incredibly disappointed with our experience. It's important to note that the bar and service staff were incredibly friendly and can't be faulted. However, the food we received should not be served to paying customers...and should definitely not be considered as pub/restaurant standard food. It was quite evident that everything on all of our plates was frozen and nothing was homemade. The burger was half the size of the cheap bun it was served on. It came with no sauce or salad inside, was incredibly dry and included a measly ration of bacon that may as well have not been there along with some frozen, tasteless chips. The fish and chips (also terrible) claimed to come with tartare sauce - whilst not completely false, the tartare sauce was already on the table in small, service station packets along with the packaged mustard and ketchup (not worthy of a mention on the menu). It was so astoundingly bad, a 10 year old could have put the meals together. We were seated in a very dim, dreary and dated looking room which didn't better the experience. Local ales were also advertised but not available. Again to reiterate, the staff were lovely. However, we will not be returning and would absolutely not recommend eating here.More

A nice pub next at the water's edge, almost hidden away. They have a limited food menu, but make up with a very well stocked bar. Acceptable service and quick presentation of food.

They are obviously short staffed (like most places) but despite this the service was great and they very friendly and welcoming. The kids menu was great for choice and value. Our main meals were very nice. However, the desserts (with the exception of the ice...cream) were awful. The rhubarb crumble looked terrible and tasted even worse. My husband had the sticky toffee pudding but it was visibly dry and he couldn’t cut through the middle of it. It was rock hard! They did change my crumble and took the sticky toffee off the bill. However, the Baileys Creme Brûlée I requested had not a hint of Baileys in it. It tasted very plain (maybe they forgot to add the Baileys).More

Ohhh boy. What to say. I don’t like to say something bad because it isn’t always fair so I will try to be accurate My room was not very nice. The bed and sheets were acceptable which is a good thing. Towels also ok. Amenities...not bad either. Carpet a little yucky and the bathroom was really bad. Floor super un level. I would give the bathroom a. 2 out if 10. Food was not bad. Sticky tables yes but overall the food was okMore

Stayed overnight here on way to Ardnumurchan peninsula and Uist. Great location right on side of Loch Fyne. Staff were really welcoming and friendly, food was really good. Big double room, big bathroom with jacuzzi bath that we were too tired to use. Would stay...here again on trip up to Scotland. Food in restaurant was good. Great place to stop off for a night. breakfast was good too - except the potato cake which was really hard. Seems to be a staple on a Scottish breakfast but just not to my taste.More

This is a difficult place to review. The food was good, well cooked, hot and fresh. The menu a little dated, especially in the deserts where it was crumble, sticky toffee or ice cream which is rather old hat. However the food was good and...enjoyed. I had the liguini followed by crumble my partner had scampi followed by ice cream. Good home cooked grub. The ambience was lacking, tables sticky with beer or whsyever and the waiting stsff were ok but missed we were booked in and not residents and were surprised when they realised. Civil in all they did but not friendly perhaps because we were foreigners. Would I return? No but likewise I do not regret eating there. Its a stunning location on the lochside if this was in the middle of a town its ambience, poor decor and staff attitude would mean its popularity would not be so good. Yet this coild be a goldmine.More

Stayed overnight on route to Isle of Mull. Stunning location on shores of Loch Fyne with a lively bar & restaurant plus garden. Food very good and drinks sensibly priced. Ideally situated for a walk to Ardkinglas Gardens and if you have young children with...you they will love the Gruffalo Trail! Would definitely stay again.More

Lovely Inn full of character with incredible friendly staff. I had homemade soup to start and that was absolutely delicious. I probably would not drive the 30 mins to visit again but good if you are passing.
