One of the few places to have a meal in the Carradale area. We booked a table in advance but did not realise that we also needed to book our main course in advance. I have never before come across this quaint custom. It is just as well that the Chef had a spare beef burger and a spare fishcake. The dishes were well cooked by Chef Bill who says that he does not do fast food but food as fast as he can. We enjoyed our meal and so decided to book for the following evening. We were a bit surprised that we were asked to pay a deposit for our meal to secure a table for the following night. I suspect that they have had customers making bookings and not turning up. The staff and the proprietor were very friendly and chatty.

Just back from a visit and the experience from start to finish was amazing. We first checked into Clara’s cots next door to the bar. Lovely accommodation with all you would need. Then went to the bar for pre dinner drinks and enjoyed a bit of banter with Aengus and Cormac before enjoying the most delicious 3 course dinner in their beautiful restaurant. Scallops to start followed by the most elite of chicken Kievs served with black garlic purée and to finish a really decadent Eton mess. Cormac and his front of house crew were super friendly and efficient and it was a pleasure to watch Ciaran and his team prepare the wonderful food with such care and attention to detail. After a good nights sleep we continue on our culinary adventure with their continental breakfast which I’m still dreaming about. Apple poached with a herb( I can’t remember the name) which gave it an unbelievable flavour was served with homemade yoghurt and a granola to die for. A fab plate of charcuterie and a sublime goats cheese followed and enjoyed with chunks of toasted sourdough. There was also homemade jam, the lightest of whipped butter and another delicious strawberry yoghurt.. all washed down with a smooth coffee. We had another lovely chat with Cormac and Ciaran and left feeling happy and relaxed and a promise to return at least once a month. Don’t think twice guys, just go!

With my partner coming from carradale we visit once a year and have been here before COVID and there is not a lot of places to eat in carradale so we managed to get a table here on our 1st night. We did have to pre-order our food and it did arrive at our table very fast.my partner had a steak which he was pleased with I had scampi which was fine and my mother in law had the fish cake which was also very nice. Only let done was pudding we went for the cheesecake and it was obviously shop bought and let the meal down but apart from that the owners were friendly there was music on to give it a nice ambience and they had table and chairs outside to sit and enjoy the sun.

Delicious food. Can not recommend the steak enough. Both the mushroom and pepper sauce were the best we’ve ever tasted. Onion rings to die for. Langoustines are fresh from the sea and also cooked to perfection. Friendly husband and wife who run the show and are very welcoming.

Excellent seafood at this restaurant. We booked our choice of mains in advance and they did not disappoint - scampi and breaded scallops - highly recommend both. The staff were very friendly and we had a warm welcome. We had a table outside as dogs are not allowed in the restaurant and they gave our dog a couple of treats.

Just had the seafood platter for two and were pleasantly surprised! It’s a long time since we’ve had a good pub meal. Lots to enjoy, smoked salmon, hot smoked salmon, pickled herrings, prawns, smoked mussels, delicious langoustines, breaded scallops freshly battered fish, monkfish and a couple of other things I’ve forgotten, served with a fresh salad and three accompanying sauces we ordered chunky chips as a side but not really necessary. The only fault I could find was that I had to ask for lemon it wasn’t on the platter. Presentation and service all very good. If I were to have this again I might ask for the cold elements to be served first to have for a starter followed by the hot fish for the main. Wine menu not extensive, however our choice was a NZ white was extremely good. The place was very busy for a Tuesday however the service was not compromised, staff pleasant and competent. Not much to fault, lots to compliment which certainly makes a nice change!

We had a meal here last night as it was our last night in Carradale. We turned up at 6.00pm but could not get in until 8.00pm which was fine. I had the Braised Steak in Onion Gravy and my partner had the Lamb Shank, they were both tasty and the meat just melted in your mouth. The staff were friendly and efficient but the only down fall in my eyes was the kitchen door was left open so you could hear all the clattering of the pots and pans being washed etc, other than that it was a very nice meal.

We went for a drive around the Mull of Kintyre on the first Sunday in April. We had hoped to find somewhere to have lunch in Campbelltown but no luck. We were giving up hope at 2.15 when we came across this lovely bar and restaurant in Carradale. They have a great menu and serve lunch until 3pm. I especially liked the fact that they offer half portions which is brilliant if you don’t have a huge appetite. We had dogs with us but we were able to sit on the lovely terrace to eat. The service was excellent and the food delicious. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

We were staying at the campsite so walked along to the only pub within walking distance expecting a nice atmosphere. It was not dog friendly which I was so disappointed with. So we had to sit outside with the midges. Order two drinks, cider from a bottle was fine however the pint of Tennets was flat as anything. Left within 5/10 mins - rather disappointed.

We find your comments very disappointing and you didn’t give us a chance to rectify your pint of lager - it possibly was a faulty glass but if we don’t know we can’t rectify it. As for sitting outside with your dogs , that’s your choice, we only allow assistance dogs inside the building which has been our policy for the last 9 years .

This was a family celebration of 6n and was absolutely amazing. We had a massive shared fish platter consisting of all local mixed seafood. Absolutely delicious!! The staff were friendly and very welcoming and although they were extremely busy, we had attentive and friendly service throughout the evening. Thank you for a wonderful experience which made for an amazing and memorable family celebration.

We visited the Glen Bar a few times when we were staying in Carradale for drinks and on our last evening, for dinner with family. It is run by a lovely couple called Brian and May who work really hard to ensure visitors are looked after well. Food is homely and cooked by Brian. It is reasonably priced and portion size is generous. Because of COVID restrictions it’s essential to book the day before and pre order food. Outside seating area is lovely and on a nice day it’s a great place to sit and watch the world go by with a cold drink or coffee. Next time we are in Carradale we will definitely visit again.

We visited Glen bar restaurant for our evening out and decided to have the sea food dishes, all of which were excellent. The staff are really friendly and helpful and we booked our meal whilst en route from Durham without any problems at all. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area ... you won't be disappointed.

Great restaurant a short walk from Carradale Bay Caravan Park. Food was amazing and the staff were lovely. Langoustines and seafood platter were excellent, as were the various cheesecakes for dessert. Please be aware you must book and preorder food in advance.

I don't often write reviews, but Bill and May deserve feedback for their service. With 2 friends on cycling break. Great food, but most of all just such great flexibility, generosity and hospitality--which was fantastic. It's the kind of service which will guarantee that we will be back and recommend to friends/family.
