Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Did both dine-in lunch and take-away. LUNCH: Had the scallop thermidor as starter, then the lobster. Scallop was nicely seared and cheesy. Lobster came with flavourful garlic butter, although I would have preferred if it were cleaned of all the barnacles. Service was friendly and...attentive. TAKE-AWAY: There is a deli section. I bought 2 items: Seafood with rose marie sauce sandwich was only average, very little meat. The smoked haddock quiche was flavourful. As a tourist I could not buy the smoked haddock itself (as that needs a fridge), so the smoked haddock quiche was a good alternative!More

I'd recently bought and eaten fresh oysters outdoors in Oban and I was keen to do the same at Loch Fyne. I bought a takeaway box of 6 prepared oysters with great expectations but it didn't really live up. The oysters were medium sized and...the only preparation had been to remove the top shells. Luckily I had a spoon in my vehicle that I could use to separate each oyster from their shell and let me eat them. In Oban, the oysters were large and had been fully prepared for eating there and then. I guess that I had misunderstood the takeaway option.More

Do not offer outdoor dining. Offer a takeaway service that can be eaten at their outside tables, which is served in polyester boxes. And outside space was grubby. Decided on purchasing at deli and taking back to digs to prepare ourselves.

Very late lunch (4pm) and the restaurant was quiet. Staff extremely friendly and engaging. The langoustines were excellent as was the fish cake. The cabbage and egg with the fish cake was unusual, but tasty. Well worth a detour if your heading to Dunoon or...Bute.More

The seafood was spectacular. Everything we ate was delicious, but highly recommend the smoked mussel fishcake with langoustine bisque, any of the oysters, and the scallops. Truly delicious. Also a lovely and pretty reasonably priced wine list. The prices aren’t everyday prices (we came as...a special meal on holiday) but would definitely come back!More

Fabulous food and great service - so nice to get a restaurant which is clean and tidy and well looked after - I had scallops and then lobster - so perfect - made our holiday - we went twice and would have gone again but...had to go home. The hostess is just the very very best.More

A real shame this place is so unfriendly to dogs! Only option for dog owners is to sit on very poor picnic benches and to add insult to injury, you can only order from a limited takeout menu. I was looking forward to a bottle...of champagne and some fabulous seafood, left having had nothing! £100-150 to spend somewhere that does welcome my dog owner money!More

We had a very good lunch at Loch Fyne. Oysters, 1/2 lobster, chowder and fish cake, all was very well prepared. The service was good and we would definitely stop here again for lunch.

Visited restaurant last week and had a fish Supper on a plate. Nothing special apart from the price. Whal £20 each for fish and chips. My local fish and chip shop served better. By that I mean, lower price, really excellent taste and tasted brilliant....This we didn't experience at Loch Fyne. Definitely, definitely won't be back.More

Disappointed and sorry I bothered going to the "Oyster bar" service was dreadful, the female head waitress has a really bad attitude, her abruptness when asked If they did seafood platters was rude beyond belief, the food Itself Is vastly overpriced... my local fish and...chip shop do a far better job...looking at what was on offer re It's takeaway that's no better.More

Wow!! What a fantastic find. Promised ourselves we would stop off for oysters here as they are famous the world over and they did not disappoint. Presented beautifully, with different options for people that don’t want to do them au natural , and the staff...were really lovely and really looked after us. Worth a visitMore

I unfortunately arrived 30 min to closing and thought I would take my chances with being seated. Knowing they were closing soon, I just went with a quick order of oysters and they were fresh and meaty. I'll definitely be back when I have more...time.More

Would love to write a glowing review of our lunch but seeing as my attempt to book a table (as recommended on their website “to avoid disappointment”) on a bank holiday Monday was met with an unanswered phone asking me to leave a message and...they would call back only to be called back 24 hours later I’ll save that for the Oyster Inn in Connel who did answer the phone and we had a lovely lunch.More
