My wife and I have dinner here a couple of evening ago. My Steak & Ale pie was delicious but was let down as it had short crust pastry. I have never seen short crust pastry used for this type of pie.

I've visited before, but just for a drink with my friends and their dog. I think it's new owners and dogs now aren't allowed. But I really like the place. The chef is known on Bute and the food was varied and lovely. £9.95 for a Sunday lunch (one course) is more expensive than I normally pay, but it was... More

The dining room to the rear of the pub was closed and meals were being served in the front bar section. We chose the sunday roast dinner at around £9.00. It was nicely plated however there was a massive yorkshire pudding which was slightly burnt on the bottom and was only a shell, the roast beef was nice but would... More

Went for lunch in late Feb. Became very busy with "Shearings" holidaymakers but also quite a few locals. Excellent home made steak pie with good chips; very good size portion.

Four of us had lunch here recently. The staff were, friendly, polite and helpful. The meal was excellent, congratulations due to the new chef. The menu was imaginative and the portions were substantial. The smoked haddock dish, in particular, was delicious. We will be back and would recommend the Bull to anyone. Memories of Len being in charge!

Would have loved to have gone here to eat and sample the Bute Brewery beer. Unfortunately, the new owners no longer allow dogs and their owners to enter. Previous comments about being dog friendly are out of date. Nowhere in Rothersay is dog friendly as far as I could determine,

My son and i visited The Black Bull for lunch and we were not disappointed, we both had the burgers which were lovely with a side salad garnish and chips, great value for money we thought. Staff were friendly. The only thing we felt was it was rather cold inside. Will be back in the summer months.

We arrived at 1pm to be welcomed by angie and her staff. The menu was quite extensive for a small inn and the meals were served to the 7adults and 2 children very quickly. The staff were wonderful and another visit would be recommended.thanks again.

The Black Bull had been recommended to us and we weren't disappointed. The staff very friendly and welcoming, the service great and the food was excellent and we all enjoyed what we had ordered. The only down side I thought... it needed a little brightening up but it wouldn't stop me visiting again.
