Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had roast beef dinners, which we were all looking forward to, but have to say we were left bitterly disappointed. The beef was like old shoe leather and really should have come with a saw, it was so tough (had to ask for steak knife)...worst bit was that it was incredibly fatty, so much so that we left more than we ate ☹️ I hate wasting food but it was inedible. Take away puddings - I had the sticky toffee pudding which was very dry (possibly over microwaved) but ice cream was nice. Overall unimpressed and if staying at Lomond Castle again, wouldn’t eat there. Actually had a nicer roast dinner at Maid of the Loch in Balloch!!!More

We recently had dinner here with family. It was fantastic from start to finish. The staff were superb, being both efficient and friendly. The selection of food was excellent and every item ordered was well cooked and well presented. The selection of wine was excellent....Everything about the evening was first class. We will certainly be back and would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Lich Lomond.More

We had a bad experience at the restaurant. It is maybe a good place for a wedding venue but not like a Restaurant. We ordered king prawns and 2 burgers and we had to pay for everything in ADVANCE.We don't know exactly what was wrong but we...both got stomach issues after the lunch. We don't really recommend it.More

Family and friends meal for 24 people. Wilma at the cruin arranged everything for us and the whole evening was perfect. The waiting staff welcomed us on arrival and attended to us all evening. Very efficient. The food was delicious with a great choice of dishes...and all beautifully presented. The Cruin has a very relaxing atmosphere and nice decor throughout and right on Loch Lomond side set within private gardens with great views. I have no hesitation recommending the Cruin for a large celebration or just a night out at a nice restaurant.More

We happened to be in the area and took a chance on Sunday dinner. The food was fantastic, the specials board was particularly good and the service was friendly and fast. There was something for all the family and the restaurant was relaxing with fantastic...views onto the water. If I pass that way again I will definitely be back.More

Our first visit to the Cruin tonight whilst staying in the area. Lovely food… the Cullen Skink was heavenly! Both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our starters and mains ( black pudding, steak strips and burger). The staff were extremely professional and helpful and...courteous. We will definitely return. Many thanks!More

We ate here while staying at the Loch Lomand guest houses which were amazing too and only about 100 yards from the Cruin. The service was really good, everyone very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing! I wasn't overly hungry so just had the...lentil and bacon soup as my main. Beautiful soup and roll. Very tasty. My husband went with a steak and was very happy with it. If in the area again we will definantly go here again. Thank you to all the friendly staff who made our experience so nice.More

Our daughter’s wedding reception was recently held at The Cruin and what an incredible venue this is! We were fortunate to have a beautiful day enabling us to have nibbles and drinks outside where we could appreciate the magnificent scenery. We have had so many...positive comments about the quality of the food from the nibbles and through the meal. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and the service was very efficient but unobtrusive. We were delighted with the whole day!More

Visited for our friend's wedding. Venue was stunning, set out beautifully and very clean. The weather was beautiful so we got to enjoy the gorgeous views, drinks were reasonably priced to. My husband was in a wheelchair after just having an operation and the staff...were very helpful, particularly Jack who went above and beyond to help, he even made time to come and check on us several times throughout the day, fetching ice for his leg ect....very polite and easy to talk to making our experience enjoyable. The only downside was the gab between the service at 1pm and the meal at 5pm with no food in between, not sure if this is the normal layout for their weddings but maybe canapés or something would have gone down well (and soaked up the alcohol!). We then ate again around 9pm but to be honest wasn't that hungry from have the 3 course meal later on .More

Great tiger prawns to start and chocolate brownie to finish. The goats cheese ravioli for mains was disappointing as the pasta wasn’t fresh. The restaurant had a beautiful view over Loch Lomond and good service.

Staying local so came here for a meal. Booked in advance and reserved a table in the window over looking the stunning views of Loch Lomond. Soup & chicken wings as starters were both delicious as was the fish & chips & burger mains. I...was looking forward to dessert but was far too full & had to decline. Staff were friendly, polite, professional & efficient. All were wearing face masks. It felt very safe in the current covid times.More
