Came across Muircot Farm Shop and Cafe when looking for somewhere to lunch when shopping at Tillicoultry. What a find. Bright, spacious cafe with a truly stunning view. Delightful staff who scrupulously cleaned tables and chairs between customers. A smallish menu, but I suspect all...the better for that. Delicious, fresh, well prepared 'home cooked' food. As for the cakes, I can't think of anywhere I have enjoyed tea and cake more than Muircot Farm. The visit was topped off by the purchase of some beautiful veg at very reasonable prices. We will be back, but this time specifically to visit Muircot Farm.More

We hadn't booked but they were able to take us, probably because there was only two of us. Disabled parking and easy access, probably best to book in advance as they're usually busy and a little off the beaten track. We both had a ploughmen's...and I have to say the best in the area £8.95 for a full plate. A number of other establishments call it a ploughman with a choice of one cheese and/or no chutney. Excellent selection of cakes although we didn't partake as we'd had our fill.More

Having read wonderful things about this place I was excited to visit. The scone was flat as a pancake, the sandwich was okay but overall nothing special. Again service was fine, but not overly personal or friendly.

We have visited this coffee shop many times… never disappointed. All staff friendly and food is fresh, tasty and well presented. Lemon Meringue Pie is truly the best we have ever tasted.

First visit to Muircot Farm Shop and Resturaunt, food was lovely, and very fresh, well worth a visit, if nothing else for their Lemon Meringue Pie.

Last Sunday we travelled from Kirkcudbright to Elgin and then back again a few days later. Whilst not exactly on our route Muircot was good enough to make the detour. On the journey up we had lunch and my mushroom risotto was the best I...have ever had. The depth of flavour was amazing. On our way back we had sandwiches; egg mayonnaise for my husband and salmon and cucumber for me. They were so full of great fillings that we had to ask for a doggy bag, They were tremendous value. The staff are friendly and there is a great ambience around.More

Stopped here with a friend for a spot of lunch. We both had the broccoli and stilton soup which was delicious. We will definitely be back.

Let me just start by saying that the food (chicken mayo and mustard sandwich followed by carrot cake) is the best in the county 5*. The service from the waiting staff was and always is spot on, the reason for the 1* review is more...based on a moral standpoint and appreciate people may have differing views. I had a gift voucher to use in the restaurant.... this expired on 29/03/20. Now granted that was nearly 6 months ago but pre lockdown the advice was to stay indoors and then the shop closed up, before the expiry date on the voucher, for a number of months. During August we tried to book a few times but generally it's always busy and it had opted in to the eat out to help out scheme so I could never get a table. This was the first time we were able to get out as we had a babysitter and get a table but when I handed the voucher over it was instantly discarded as it expired months ago and that it had nearly expired before the shop closed due to the restrictions. Whilst I appreciate how hard it's been for firms to pick themselves back up after all this, at the same time a bit of goodwill/common sense goes along way. Whilst the food didn't leave a bad taste in the mouth, this certainly did.More

If you mean is the food covered in the preparation area, then yes. If you mean outdoor dining then the tables outside are picnic bench style and not covered.

The cakes are displayed in a glass fronted cake counter which is open at the back. Hope that's helpful.
