Our first visit to Edenshine for over two years, and we were pleased to see , and taste, that it's still as wonderful as ever! Tables are by prior booking only at present, and their Covid arrangements are very good, screens between tables etc. I decided to steer myself away from my usual vegetable and cheese burger, so chose Oven Roasted Salmon with Garlic Prawns, which was simply delicious! Husband chose a full Gammon Steak with Peaches and Pineapple, which he said was lovely. We both chose to have mixed veg with our meals, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, and swede. All perfectly cooked, but a larger portion would have been good! However, my portion control goes out of the window where veg is concerned, we eat a huge amount of veg with our meals, so it might be a normal portion, when we usually have too much! Normally I have the trifle for dessert, but today was bitterly cold, so we both decided to have a cold weather 'pud', Bread and Butter Pudding, husband's with custard, mine with cream. Well, I'm sorry to say it, but we were both totally underwhelmed! Teeny, tiny portions, bland, and a huge disappointment, it should have have had marmalade in, but neither of us could discern even a hint of citrus, Paddington bear would have been most upset! It was, as ever beautifully served, with a slice of strawberry, a physalis and a slice of orange on the side, but as for flavour, it was nice, but I'm used to exceptional from Edenshine, so 'nice' just doesn't work! Everything on the menu is a tad pricey, but the quality is so good that it's well worth every penny. Unfortunately, at almost £6 for a small portion of a bland dessert, they missed the mark this time! Of course, it won't stop us visiting in future, we'll just not bother with Bread and Butter Pudding again! The staff were, as ever, superb, which was especially impressive considering the number of people who seemingly cannot read the sign requesting that they wait just outside the door to be seated!

It was a busy Sunday lunch time and we called in for a snack and drink. Staff are very friendly and efficient and all the food looked good. We had an excellent parsnip soup. Followed by scone, which wasn't crisp enough on the outside but was very fresh and warm. It was disappointing to be served canned foam cream rather than proper clotted cream. A lovely traditional restaurant and tea room.

Hello Simon, Thank you for visiting us, very pleased to hear you enjoyed yourselves and the lovely comments about our team and service. I can promise you the cream is not canned foam cream at all. We use fresh local cream from a farmer in Buckley as we have a very strong ethos in using local and supporting local producers and farmers. We do have a hand machine the cream goes into and gas is used to whip it but it is 100% local. We are unable to get local clotted cream hence why we serve whipped cream instead. All of our cakes are baked here with our own recipes, I apologise you like a crispy finish to your scones, this is just not how we bake them. As you mention they are fresh and served warm as well. Hope to see you again soon. Best wishes Janet, Adrian and team at Edenshine.

Just marvellous. We had an astonishingly delicious lunch (you can taste the quality of the ingredients) in the most pleasant of settings with some of the nicest waiting staff we have ever had the pleasure to meet. Under Covid conditions we felt safe and relaxed. An absolute treat - cannot fault anything - it felt like a little holiday.

We have been before and always had a lovely meal but on this visit we were to be very disappointed. One problem was that waiting times.... 10 minutes after seating to get a menu, another 10 min till order taken, 15 moreminutes to get drinks, another 10 for the meal to arrive. The party that arrived ahead of us waited even longer! All wold have been forgiven if the food had been worth the wait but although my quiche was nice my husband's beef and ale pie was a different matter. One, a pie has a pie top and is not just a case but this again would have been forgiven if the filling had been good. However the main ingredient was carrot!!! One small piece of beef, 2 small slivers of mushroom and gravy. My husband doesn't even like carrots. When he complained the owner apologised but explained that the filling came separately. What that has to do with the amount of carrots I don't know. There was no reduction in the bill either. I have added a picture showing the carrots minus a few that I ate. Draw your own conclusions.

Hello Jane, I am sorry things didn't go quite to plan on Wednesday when you visited. I make no excusses for the lack of beef in your pie, this should not have been the case and as I explained at the time we never have this problem as the beef & ale is cooked seperately from the pastry so we should be able to ensure you always have plenty of meat in the pie. I am very sorry this happened and it should not have. I did ask if your husband would like me to bring him something else but he turned this offer down. As you are aware we are taking part inthe government Eat out to Help out scheme (taking 50% off the bill or up to £10 per person) this has taken us by storm and I have to say we were much busier on the day than we expected to be. This had a knock on effect with everything, and added to this the new Covid cleaning procedures and safety measures slowed everything thing down on the day you visited. I am not excuseing the events and we take our jobs very seriously and have pride in what we do as a team. However we were aboultley doing our best to look after everyone in very difficult and unusual circumtances. I do feel a little dissapointed that you feel it necessary to share your feelings on here but appreciate we fell below the mark on this occassion and accept your frustration. We have addressed a few issues since you visited and have changed some working methods to try to maintain all our safety precautions but allow things to be faster. We would like to apologise once again and hope you can appreciate our situation and accept we have made changes now to make improvements. As you mentioned you have been to us on other occassions and had lovely meals, I would hope you would return again and let us redeem our reputaion with us. Kind Regards Janet & Adrian

We visited on a Sunday afternoon. Service was very haphazard. One of our meals was lovely the other was a bit underwhelming (a Sunday Roast at £11.25). The roasts veg came out late and we also ordered a side bowl of chips which we didn't get till we asked the waiter about it,he never came back with it so we asked another waiter and then we were given 2 bowls of chips although we'd only ordered one. When we went to pay for our meal we had to stand outside and the bill included the chips we never ordered. These were taken off the bill but we were asked again what the story was about the chips(in front of other diners, which felt uncomfortable). There were a few other things that made it a disappointing experience for us which is a shame as we'd enjoyed our previous visits.

Thank you for taking the time to visit us , I can only apologise we didin't give the level of service you have usually enjoyed from us. This particular day was an exceptionally busy one as you could see when you were with us and sadly you experienced some issues. I can only apologise and say we have now put into place some additional actions to help this improve. You are correct that when paying your bill we ask you to stay outside if you have eaten outside - we are working hard to keep people at distances from others so this is a measure we have in place to keep us all safe. I am glad we delt with the issue of the added chips on the bill and in the end all was sorted. Once again I apologise for the issues you experienced and can assure you everyone was working to their upmost to deal deal with a very busy day. We hope to see you again as you are aware this is not our usual service. Kind regards Janet, Adrian and team

Opted for the triple Welsh lamb chops, new potatoes, tomato, mushrooms and onion rings, with gravy, and realised the essential mint sauce had not been brought to table. The lamb chops were delicious but in my opinion would have been better served with carrots and petit pois and the tomato and onion rings dispensed with. At the full price of £15.95 I would have been rather disappointed so I was glad to enjoy the experience under the ‘Eat Out’ half price govt scheme. Servers were pleasant and friendly. Environmental requirements under Covid regulations seemed to be fine, to keep us all safe.

Hello Kevin, Thank you for your comments and for taking the time to visit us. I must apologise the mint sauce was not brought to your table straight away with your meal, with all of the covid safety precautions we now simply ask if you would like any sauces with your meals to try and cut down on waste (as everything is thrown after it has been to your table). I am guessing there may have been a misunderstanding when you were asked. I know you did get your mint sauce a few minutes after. You are welcome to ask to exchange your onion rings, mushroooms and tomato for vegetables next time, all you need to do is speak to someone when ordering. Our lamb chops are from the local butcher in Denbigh and always Welsh/ local. Glad you noticed our safety precautions in action and seem to approve. As you may have seen all tables and chairs are cleaned before the next person is seated, as staff we are all in visors and are cleaning all menus after every use. And for the added safety we have installed screens between most tables and positioned tables and chairs to give maximum safety. Glad you enjoyed the half price "Eat out" experience. If you visit again don't forget to talk to us if you need to about your vegetables or sauces. So glad you found the serving staff pleasent & friendly. Kind regards Janet & Adrian

We had an absolutely marvellous time today at this lovely restaurant. We booked over the phone and felt welcome from the moment the phone was answered. The setting is idyllic and we were lucky enough with the weather to be able to sit outside. The menu is all local home produced and home made dishes, very high quality and expertly cooked. I had trout with almonds, which is lovely dish when cooked well and this was. The service is friendly and professional, harder to pull off than you might imagine, particularly in Covid times, but others would do well to come here to see how it's done. Thank you for looking after us so well and feeding us such delicious food. I cannot tell you what a welcome break from daily life this was. We will definitely be back.

Small cafe inside the antique centre. We ordered a burger with chips and coleslaw £10.95 each. Was a lovely homemade burger, very nice. Took some cake away £1.80 a slice of fruit loaf and a tiramisu slice for an overpriced £4.95! Small piece! Bill came to around £35, bit expensive I thought but it was nice food. More suitable for the older type pensioners than young people.

Thank you for visiting us , it is very nice to hear you enjoyed your homemade burgers and all the trimmings. We work very hard to ensure everything is homemade from the hand cut chips, your coleslaw, the burgers, and all the menu as well as our cakes. I am sad read you feel we are a little expensive biut take on baord your comments. I can only justify this will the fact we make everything in house and of course this in its self has costs. Everything that goes into making any dish has to be refelcted in the price and quality of the dish - homemade I feel sets us apart from other places and makes our dishes unique to us. Lastly thank you for visiting.

We were on holiday in the area and came across this little gem , the food and service are so good we visited 4 times !!! Breakfast , 2 lunches and tea /cakes . The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent quality and well presented. They recommend booking for busy times but we were lucky and never waited long for a table . Take a coat in case you sit outside by the river as the wind can be a bit sneaky . The chips are some of the best we've ever tasted , really brown and crispy , yum yum !!!!! Compliments to the chef and the great team . Liz and Steve from west Yorkshire.

This cafe is part of an antique and craft centre so a lovely half day out all round. We have eaten here before and found very generous portions for lunch but I would really recommend it for the super cake selection. The sizes are large so best enjoyed on their own with tea/ coffee as I find too much with a meal. Today we enjoyed Tiramisu with cream and Bakewell with ice cream. Very good coffee and peppermint tea. Delicious! Good, friendly service.

We came here to look at the antique centre (which was very pleasant), but the restaurant was amazing. The food was stunning. We had sandwiches to start, which came with an excellent mixed side salad (rather than the usual limp lettuce with a bit of tomato and cucumber). It all felt really fresh. The dessert options were fantastic. So much choice: home-baked cakes, trifles, ice cream sundaes, etc. We had coffee mocha cake where we could actually taste the coffee. Scrummy! The service was first rate too - friendly and helpful. All round top-notch. We will certainly find a way to go back even though it’s 60 miles away!

Looking for somewhere for a Sunday lunch ?!? Well you can’t go wrong with this hidden gem. The food was excellent piping hot and so tasty … while the staff were extremely helpful friendly and very happy to help. Serving locally brewed ales and a variety of soft drinks. We choose from the Sunday roasts ( the lamb was so tasty and melt in your mouth). The dessert menu is also not to be missed. Wide and varied selections. So to finish I’d say give it a visit you won’t regret it.

We have eaten here many times before and ALWAYS had wonderful food. Today I ordered Coronation chicken sandwiches. The weirdest coronation chicken ever. Thick slices of chicken with "coronation sauce" spread over so that the chicken didn't take on any flavour. Unfortunately the sauce didn't either and there was absolutely no taste or smell of curry. That said hubby's burger was fine and both our desserts were to die for. Great Covid precautions in place with screens between tables and more outdoor seating. Despite the coronation chicken I would still recommend. You definitely will not be disappointed in their cakes and I doubt in anything else as we never have been previously.

We were travelling home after walking our dog when my husband suggested lunch at Edenshine. We have eaten at Edenshine many times and each time is fab. Excellent food, friendly, efficient staff and always great cake choices. We sat outside in the cold and the very gusty wind and we weren't warm, but it was worth it for the food. We brought the cake home and had it later as we were full. My husband had the pork and apple stroganoff which he said was "very tasty and he would highly recommend it ". I never get past the cheese and onion quiche, its just so good that I can't get to the wonderful rarebit or jacket potato! Nevermind it's all tasty, local and a fair price too. Thankyou Edenshine.

These guys really looked after us. On a sunny day we sat outside near the river and friendly staff looked after us really well. My wife has allergies which were checked and catered for. The food was well cooked and tasty and local gin and ales provided. The restaurant has take away options so we bought frozen ready meals to eat the next day. The venue is built into the antique and craft centre so half an hour can be spent browsing after eating.
